No I diddent ekes plane my self vel.
When I am on a website, and want to open ore paste a document, and I press open file, it just opens onto photos.
Why don't it suggest other programs I have on my phone?

If Reader ISN'T in the list of prpgrams to open with, click "Browse"
In the "Browse window" go to C/Program files [or Program Files (x86)]/Adobe/Reader 11/Reader
Select "AcroRd32.exe" and click "Open"
Make sure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked and click "OK".

I have documents I created in Appleworks and Pages 4.3 that I can't open in Pages 5.1 using Mavericks. How can I open those files?

Mavericks is the Operating System (OSX).
LibreOffice [free] may be able to open your AppleWorks files but probably not perfectly.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but will alter/damage them.

If you want to always open Word documents with Pages, you can set OS X to do that. Highlight a known Word document in the Finder, highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose Pages. If Pages is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the Pages application. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with Pages. You can then double-click the Word documents & they will open in Pages. Note that the icon for the Word files will have a plain, white icon.

First of all it has to be compatible with Pages. It has to be a .doc, .docx, or a native Pages document or you will not be able to open and edit it in Pages. If it is one of those file types' just tap and hold down on the attachment icon in order to bring up the Open In window. I am currently running Mac OS X v.10.4.11, but I am turning in my old mac for a new one in about a week. Almost all of my important files are AppleWorks 6 files and my new mac will not have this program since it has been replaced with Pages. I currently have AppleWorks 6, Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, and Pages 08 on my old mac. I am unsure as to what applications I will have on my new mac (I am a teacher and the macs are school computers so I do not have control over the software), but I think it will have both Word 2008 and Pages 08 or 09. So far I have not had any luck opening my AppleWorks files in Pages or Word. I have been able to copy and paste the AppleWorks files into Pages (they are mostly Draw documents, not simple word processing), but they become an image so I cannot edit the content. I need to be able to edit my documents on my new computer and do not have time to open each AppleWorks file and copy it to Pages anyway. Any suggestions to help me with this compatibility problem?

AppleWorks will run fine on your new Mac, though if you transfer it from the old one you should delete it from there to stay within the terms of the licence. You would need to copy the Appleworks folder over, not just the application.
Pages can open Appleworks 6 word processing documents, Numbers can open Appleworks 6 spreadsheets. It's possible to open AW Draw documents in Eazydraw, or in Pages through a workaround. Nothing will open AW Database documents.

I brought a document created at work on microsoft word home and am trying to work with it on my mac using pages. But when I open it a lot of the form is in disarray and I can't work with it. Is there a way to open a word doument in pages without losing so much text? I am a new mac user.

Pages does not do Enter fields for forms so it sounds like those are simply being converted to some other space.

It strikes me that it should be possible to do that (or something similar) by building a safari extension, TC. Both Sessions and SafariRestore are able to launch multiple tabs from a previous session, so it seems like you should be able to create an extension that launches multiple tabs open to specific sites when Safari is launched.

Like AI files, Draw files can be saved with our without compression. AI cannot open compressed .cdr files. This is a very common situation among AI users who think that AI cannot open their Draw files, because the collections of kazillions of clipart files which always ship with Draw are saved with compression.
So get your client to check whether he saved the file with compression turned on. If so, ask him to send it again, but without the compression option.

As a business short cut I cut and paste from one copy of a web page to another copy. Your new feature disallows two copies of same page. Is there a way to force two copies?

Are these four steps in a procedure, or are they four different ways to accomplish the goal? I've never used the versions of Firefox since that feature was implemented so I can't visualize doing any of them either way.

The Switch To Tab "feature" is the primary reason that I have declined to Switch To "Rapid-Bug-Development" Firefox and plan to remain with Firefox 3.6 indefinitely.
Whichever person(s) decided to implement this "feature" obviously did not have a clue as to the usefulness of ''opening a tab which is identical to an existing tab'' while, for example, investigating a labyrinth of data sheets on a technical website. After it is opened, browsing continues on the new tab, which makes it easy to return to the page from which one departed without hitting the Back key umpteen times and waiting while the pages are re-displayed in reverse order (among other less efficient alternatives). The "user" just returns to the tab for the page-of-departure to resume, regardless of whether s/he also wants to close the tab on which s/he continued browsing.

I have been sent a pages document that will not open. (I have pages 5.2)
I get an error message that says that I must upgrade to Yosemite and use new pages.
Does anyone have a work round? (I do not wish to upgrade - I have heard too many bad things about Yosemite on older computers)
While I realise that apple has never been good at backward compatibility, for as basic a product as a word processor, this is vital.
At least Microsoft provided a conversion utility that allowed old versions of word to read docx files.

The default file format on Yosemite with Pages v5.5.2 is single file format. Pages v5.2.2 on Mavericks can only read package file format.
Tell the person that sent you the document to open that document in Pages v5.5.2, and then in the File menu:
Advanced ▸ Change File Type ▸ Package
Follow this document conversion with a File ▸ Save. That is important. Then they can send the document to you and Pages v5.2.2 can open it.
