How do I open CR2 in CS6?

My MBP is running OS X 10.6.8 with installed registered version of Production Premium CS6.
In previous forum threads (a couple months ago) there were similar issues w/ inability of opening CR2 in Bridge 5.0.2.4 and Camera Raw 7.0.0.308, and these people were seemingly helped with a link to a Camera Raw plug-in download...then placing that plug-in in the appropriate folder on your hard disk.
I follow this link (from the forum threads) and it's dead: Error 404, This page cannot be found. You know the one.
Does anyone know where I can find this update? (yes, I've gone through the standard software updates--and everything claims to be up-to-date)
Thanks!

Let's start with: which Canon camera are your CR2 Raw files from?
Supported cameras are listed here
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Compatible Adobe applications are listed here
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
Which version of Camera Raw do you need? Is your CS6 compatible with the version of Camera Raw that you require?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • How do i open CR2 files with photoshop cs5?

Adobe camera raw will not open CR2 files in photoshop. How do i open these files? i have tried updating camera raw witht he last 8 updates but it still will not open. Camera raw shows a pop up box saying the file is not supported.

I believe the proglem is with in Adobe CS5 and something just isnt working correctly and that maybe why it cant read or do anything with RAW files. I also noticed that Adobe's site says that it supports canon 70D CS2 files. my camera files are CR2, im not sure if maybe that might have something to do with my issue.
Nothing to do with anything being faulty in CS5.
The reason has already been given by tpolakov above: The 70D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.2 which is only compatible with CS6 and later. CS5 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.2 so CS5 cannot read Raw files from the 70D. That's all there is to it.

Thanks Tomsm13, I actually tried to convert the files to DNG but that doesnt work either. I used the latest compatable Adobe DNG converter and i get a message that it can not find any camera RAW files to convert.
You select a folder containing CR2 files, not a CR2 file.
See Camera Raw: How to use Adobe DNG Converter - YouTube

  • How do I open a PhotoShop CS6 download with a .7z file extenstion

Downloading, Installing, Setting Up downloaded Photoshop CS6 from adobe and now it's asking me how I want to open the file and gives me various options such as the store, paint, windows photo viewer etc?

You need two files. One with a .exe extension and one with a .7z extension.
Then you double click the .exe file and follow the prompts.

  • How do I open .CR2 files in CS (1) ?

Does anyone know how I can do this? I downloaded the RAW plugin for Elements 5.0 but cannot easily batch process, and there is no File Browser in Elements 5.0? Where would I go to get a plug-in so I can directly open my .CR2 files from my Canon XTi camera in Photoshop CS (1)? Thank you.

The DNG format has been developed by Adobe to sort of "standardize" the RAW format. The data is still raw data, and it is opened just like any other raw image in the Camera Raw utility that you have been using. You are able to make all the same adjustments, and you have all the same flexibility that you are accustomed to.
The DNG converter is a freestanding program that runs independently from Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. You use it to convert your images, and then you just continue working in Photoshop as you are accustomed to working. The converter comes packaged with Camera Raw. You simply put the program wherever you want it. After you open the DNG converter, simply configure it for your specific conversion. That is really all there is to it. • How do I open Premiere Pro CS6 after install

i keep trying to open the trail version of Premiere Pro CS6 ...it says that it's been installed but when i try to open it it just tries to reinstall it again ...HELP . Mac OS Snow L

It seems that you're running the installer again.
If the install is successful, it would have created the application directory and files. Look inside /Applications/Adobe/... to launch the software from there.

  • How do I open .CR2 Canon Raw Files in PS Elements 8 for iMac

When I open a .CR2 Canon Raw File (Canon T3i camera) in PSE 8 for iMac, I get all greys - no color.  It is showing as color as a .CR2 on my desktop - when I bring it into PSE, it is grey.  I chose first 16 bit, then 8 bit.  Same result.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks.  George

Thank you Barbara for pointing this out. Since I'm new to forum stuff so missed the catch here. Got exactly same information as you posted. Got to know that ACR 6.2 doesn't support T3i files. It's ACR 6.4 which supports them but is incompatible with PSE8 ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html ).
So the solution seems to be either upgrade to a newer version of Elements or download the free DNG Converter ( http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html ) and convert the raw files to DNG.
Thanks again for correcting me here

  • How can i open CR2 canon 7d mark II

    what to do?
i cant open the new Canon 7d Mark II CR2 file ???

Currently it's not supported by ACR.  You'll have to use the Canon DPP software provided with your camera and convert it to something LR/PS can read, such as a TIFF.  It may export to DNG, I'm not sure.  If not keep an eye out for an update to Adobe's DNG Converter, that will probably be updated to accept the RAW files before ACR/PS/LR will.

  • Photoshop Elements 10. Cannot open .cr2 files (Canon 650D)

Running win 7. Latest version camera raw is 6.7. It will not open .cr2 files from Canon 650d. Adobe says need camera raw 7.1 which supports 650d. Cannot update Elements 10 with 7.1 as it is not for this software.
How do i open cr2 files?

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.4
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • My friend is unable to open CR2 files in bridge but I can in CS6. How can I help him

My friend is unable to open CR2 files in bridge but I can in CS6. How can I help him

What version of Bridge and Camera Raw is your friend using?  And what camera is this from?
Each camera must be supported specifically and older versions of Adobe products don’t get updated for newer cameras.
Your CS6 is obviously new enough and has been updated to a new enough version of the Camera Raw plug-in but perhaps theirs is older or hasn’t been updated.
Here is a list of cameras that Adobe supports along with the version of the Camera Raw plug-in that is needed to read them:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
For versions older than CS6, the highest CR version is +1 of the CS version—CS5 can use CR6.x but not CR 7 or 8.
The exception is CS6 which is still be sold by Adobe so can be updated to CR8 even though it initially shipped with CR7.

  • I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1.  An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6.  If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates.  If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

  • How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?

How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?
I have several files that has been saved in a cc2014 version and I can't open them in my CS6 version of Indesign.
I don t have access to anyone who have the cc 2014 version to convert the file.
How can I do it from my cs6 version?
    THANKS!

You can't do it from CS6.
You have to export to IDML from InDesign CC2014 (or whatever the version it was created in) and then open the IDML in the earlier versoin of InDesign.
All explained in the FAQ on the main forum page.

  • How to open CR2 files in photoshop elements 10

Who knows how to open CR2-files from a Canon Powershot S100 in Photoshop Elements 10?

    Hi,
The version of Camera Raw that you reported should support the S100 CR2 images.
If you load the editor, go to the File menu and select Open, then point to the file, are you saying that it displays the error message?
Have you tried opening the file with Canon's Zoombrowser?
Which operating system are you running on?
