How do i open email attachments

I've seen this question unanswered on here many times - really need an answer. How do I open my email attachments in Firefox? Are there settings somewhere? I have Power Point in my computer but it isn't working with Firefox like it did with IE. Been looking all over for instructions but haven't found any yet. Please help.

Attachments do open immediately via my yahoo mail.
Really - now that's interesting because that is one of my pet peeves with my Yahoo Mail (accessed via browser): I have to download the attachments, they refuse to open within the message window. Especially one friend who likes to send 50 photos at once and I'd rather take a look before deciding which ones (if any) to download. Can't do it - can download one at a time, but it is still a download.....

  • How can I open email attachments in Pages?

I am unable to open email attachments such as Word docs and PDFs in Pages. If I select them I get "open in mover lite." Until recently, when I selected them I could open in iBooks but that is no longer an option for me. I am not sure iBooks would help anyway!

    according to MS KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278061
That file is made when someone is using Rich text format and attaches a file. Have them switch to either HTML or plain text and reatatch the file and you should see the proper attachments.

  • How can I open email attachments from an Exchange server?

When I am at home and accessing emails on my business email address I have to go through a Microsoft Exchange server. I can read the emails but whenever I try to open or download an attachment, I get the message: "To open this attachment, you must save it to your disk. Right-click the link, and then click Save. With a single-button mouse, hold the button down over the link, and then click Save."

Unless you believe middle-click is yours and don't like it being usurped, mine is set globally to "Enter".

How do I stop iCloud from automatically opening email attachments in Firefox?

    Hi
This may have something to do with the "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" option being enabled? Click on the iCal Menu > Preferences > Advanced. It may also be the Alarms setting? This is for 10.6 iCal so it may be in a different place for 10.5?

  • How can i download or open email attachments on iphone 6

    Hi,
How can I download or open email attachments on my iphone 6. attachments like excel, word or pdf files.
    Bichitra

    Hello Bichitra84,
You should be able download and view most attachments from within the Mail app on your iPhone. All you would need to do is tap on the attachment to download it and then tap it again to view it. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • HT2523 My TextEdit will not open email attachments ending docx. How can I remedy this?

My TextEdit will not open email attachments ending docx. How can I remedy this?

No, TextEdit cannot read those. You will need to convert them to .doc files first:
Mac users using Word 2004 who receive a Word 2008 for Mac, (or Word 2007 for Windows) document, will not be able to read this without having the Open XML Converter installed, which can be downloaded from Microsoft.
    Go to this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx
and click on the right under Most Popular, 'Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2'
This opens a window at the bottom of the page. Scroll that to the bottom and click on English.dmg, and it will download for you as a disk image, which can be installed in the usual way.
After installation you can open and read .xml formatted Word 2008 documents in Word 2004.
Update: This link  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976831  takes you to a newer version 1.1.3 (released Nov 10, 2009).

  • Can't see, quickview or open email attachments...

iPad 2-I can receive emails fine, but cannot see, quickview or open email attachments. I've been sent PDFs and can see a paper clip icon in email list view, but no PDF icon in the email.
    Why?
    Thanks.

How about something really crazy and unheard of?
I have two email accounts with Google Mail.  Both are the only ones set up in the Mail app inside my iPad2.  One would load everything: .jpeg, .docx, .pdf, and everything.  The other would not.
I tried hard reset multiple times, deleting both email accounts and hard resetting.  I cut all processes using SBSettings and killed all processes related to mail.  So I have nothing running now, and I deleted all of the readers, Doc to Go, Quick Office, and other apps I had added.
Now I have nothing running and no apps installed.
Then I set up mail again from the bottom, as if the iPad came in the mail today.  One gmail account still automatically opens and previews .jpg attachments, and show .doc, .pdf attachments with their respective icons.  THE OTHER GMAIL ACCOUNT IN THE SAME iPAD MAIL APP DOES NOT OPEN THE SAME MESSAGES I HAVE FORWARDED TO BOTH.  I would see an arrow pointed down in the icon inside that "faulty" mail account, and the name of the attachment below the icon.  I have pressed my finger a gadzillion times on those icons, only to see the spinning wheel briefly and nothing.  Holding them down would do nothing, and i can't open in other apps.
The wackiest thing is... when I hit forward (by tapping the curved arrow at the top), I get a drop-down choice list: "INCLUDE" and "DON'T INCLUDE" attachments.  When I tap on INCLUDE, .jpg files immediately load and show in the reply message, only two of four .pdfs load and open, but no .docx attachments would.
How would we be supposed to troubleshoot or fix something like this?

  • Why can't I open email attachments in Firefox?

I can open my e-mail attachments if I'm in Internet Explorer but I cannot open email attachments if I'm using Firefox. Why?

I've been on here for hours trying to figure out where the directions are for this - there's never an answer but finally found it. Go to Tools, Options, Applications and then Help. That's where the instructions are for Firefox File Handling - it helped me alot, although I still like the way IE opens attachments better. I am getting so I really like Firefox though, especially how incredibly fast it is. :)

  • Trouble opening email attachments sent from another mac

When I try to open email attachments from my new email acct at Charter.net they come out as giberish! Charter is unable to help me. They have no idea why this is happening. with my hotmail acct I can open them inconsistantly. I am sending things from my work mac to my mac at home. Both use system 10 and both computers have Word so that can't be the problem. I also make sure that the attachments say .doc in the title of the attachment. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

DOS 8.3 refers back to the pre-Windows days when file names were restricted to no more than 8 characters in the filename plus a three letter extension that identified the type of file; e.g., filename.doc for Word documents. A surprisingly amount of Windows code is still based on DOS, and some programs still behave oddly if you try using longer filenames or filenames with spaces or non-standard (letters and numbers and underscores) in the name.
On the Entourage machines, check Preferences> Compose and make sure the 'encode for' pull-down fiels reads 'any computer (Apple Double)'.
Your correct that Hotmail is rather well-known for mungling attachments sent from Macs. For that matter, it's prone to mungle attachments sent from or read by any browser other than Internet Explorer for Windows (e.g., if you use Firefox on Windows, Hotmail will corrupt the mail's formatting). It's possible to have either Safari or Firefox to pretend to be IE for Windows but I've never found that to actually help with Hotmail, probablly because it's checking for ActiveX which is Windows only. I have no knowledge of charter.net or how it's webmail works. One thing that may help with either email at home: try saving the attachments to the hard drive and then open the program you want to use and open the saved file from within the program (as opposed to trying to open the attachment from within the webmail browser or saving the attachment to disk and double-clicking it on the desktop to launch the associated program).
One thing that might work well is to bypass the webamil approach at home and use a stand-alone mail program, such as Apple's own Mail program in the applications folder or the free download of Mozilla Thunderbird. You mention using Entourage at school; that suggests you'd qualify for the student-teacher version of Microsoft Office, which would let you use Entourage at home as well (that's essentially my home Mac situation; Entourage-to-Entourage works quite well).

  • After my OS update I can no longer open email attachments.  What could be the issue??

After my latest OS update I can no longer open email attachments.  What might be in the issue??

    Quit Mail and restart.
Select each of your mailboxes and select Rebuild under the Mailboxes menu.
If those don't help, then reinstall Yosemite:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I can't open email attachments on my ipad that have an arrow on them.  Those with a W open just fine. Also can't open jpeg files-- they also have an arrow on them. Any ideas?

Hi, I can't open email attachments that have an arrow on them. Attachments with a W (windows) open just fine. I have an ipad 3. Thanks for any ideas.

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

  • Opening email attachments in Word

    Hi
I want to buy the Curve 8520. I am new to blackberries, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
Will i be able to  open email attachments that are word docs? Or will i need to buy a software product to facilitate this?
I just bought another phone and was told in the shop it would open Word docs - which it doesn't!
With the blackberry, i don't want to sign up to a contract to then find i can't open Word Docs
    Thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I cannot say 100% what happens at this moment and with every carrier/reseller, but normally BB's come pre-installed with the Standard Edition of Desktop-To-Go, which includes an app to render Word docs. Check with your seller and see if that app is included.
    Good luck!

  • Opening email attachments created by microsoft

first week with ibook going smooth but minor problem can't open email attachments created by microsoft word or excel, any suggestions would help

    camryn,
Since your iBook is new you may have a trial version of Pages and Office 2004. It may have also come with AppleWorks.
    Look in your Applications folder.
If you have any of these programs control click on the attachment and >open with, Navigate to said program.
Pages does agood job of opening Word files, AppleWorks is IMHO not so good. I'm not sure about the Excel files, maybe someone else can offer more on that.
You can go here to check other alterntives:
