How do I open/import Mainstage 2 concert and patch files?

MS 3 seems not to recognize anything from MS 2...

The first suggestion fails with the same error - cannot open this document, blah.. (I no longer have Mainstage 2 on the machine)
Second suggestion appears to work. Concert versus Patch in 2 seems to be lost in 3, all are Concert. This should at least allow me to minimize reconstructing all patches, all concerts from 2.

I recently bought Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 two days ago and I am having trouble opening up my old Final Cut Express 4.0 files. When I do go to open up these files they only open up with Final Cut Express and I always get the message: file's format is too new for this version of the application.

TThere is no way to go directly from FCE to FCPX. If you know somehow who has FCP7, they can open the FCE projects and export XML files. These can be converted to FCPX XML format using the 7toX utility.

You can copy more than just the bookmarks. The user data, such as bookmarks and passwords, are stored in the profile folder. You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!

I had a similar problem with Safari opening .pdf files. It went away when I went into the following folder: Your Home Folder/Library/Internet Plug-ins, and dragged out any files that looked as if they might make a difference, just one at a time, onto the Desktop. (N.B. I did not Trash them; and if removal made no difference, I replaced the file into the Plug-ins folder.) You will have to restart Safari on each occasion; and on a couple of occasions I found that re-setting Safari (Safari Menu) was necessary to give the application a start-from-scratch with each download attempt.
That's a somewhat makeshift way of approaching it; but provided you don't trash the plugins, and provided you restore those that make no difference, it can't do any harm -- within my experience anyway.

I cant import or place tiff and psd files, but jpg - its ok. This trouble is on User Account. In Admin Acc - there is no problem. Illustrator CS5 (UA).

I just upgraded computers - how do I remind Logic where the SFX and Instrument files are located? On my old computer it was set up on an external drive, on this computer it's all internal, but how and where do I create the paths?

You could try calling one of the following BAPIs - see which one meets your requirement. They are documented well so shouldn't be a problem finding out the correct one for your requirements.

For example, and this is just an example, I want to write a Java program that opens MS Paint and then manipulates that program. This can be useful to automate certain tasks.

1. If you want to open (run) the program and then shut (kill) it down it is possible and fairly trivial to do in java. Look up Runtime and Process classes in java.lang package
2. If you want to open the program and edit some image/document in the opened program. It is very difficult in java. May be possible... using some Java/COM bridge, assuming your native program is COM/Active-x compliant. Note: these things go beyond the boundary of JVM and needs to interact with host OS and involves shared memory, ipc and all "low level" stuffs.
If you want to be able to play around with these COM/Activex apps- choose .NET instead :-)
3) You can open the program from java and pass it some command line arg as in (1) above and then the program will load that document/image at startup automatically. You may then edit the doc/image thru that program itself. However, Java is not doing anything for you here, other than just starting off your native mspaint.exe ot notepad.exe.

How do I stop Safari from displaying .rtf and .doc files?

I have placed a number of .rtf and .doc files on my website for downloading. I've notice that my other browsers download the actual file when I type in the exact web address to where they are stored, whereas Safari just displays the text in Safari--there's no physical file download. What can I do to force Safari to download the physical file? (Am I not storing the file for download properly?)

How to use third party library (like .dll and .lib files) in flascc?

I have a number of .dll and .lib files of the third party library, which are generated from C++ code.
I read about flascc on other web site says:
"If you want to use third party library in your Flascc project,you must have either the source code or the linkable file which is compiled of the third party library "
Dose the linkable file mean .dll file or .lib file?

How can I use the fuctions in them in my flascc project.?

Native code is not interchangeable between platform.
It means that you can't use library that wasn't build specifically for flascc.
And when they say linkable files they mean libraries compiled for flascc, not any libraries.
So if your libs are for windows, no luck, you have to recompile everything

Correction! It is a CD and there are two partitions with Mac and Windows files.

I m facing a bandwidth problem because i m accessing an application from a PDA and i noticed that it takes a very long time to load a very simple page. After some investigation, i noticed that its because the JS and CSS files downloaded are rather big.

sapWdSsr_ie6.js (Size: 79 KB)
ur_ie6.css (Size: 247KB).
Any idea how to minimize the size of these files or any workaround as to this problem ?
