How do I open my home page in new tab in firefox 13, like I had been doing for years?

Since I just updated to firefox 13, I can no longer customize where a new tab opens, thanks to the new 'new tab page' feature. I've had my new tabs open to my home page for years now, it's how I'm accustomed to it, and it's frustrating that I now have spent so much time trying to work around this new 'convenience'. Just to clarify: I would like my new tabs to open to my home page. not a blank page, and not frequently visited tabs page.

kinda silly that we have to do this just to keep things like they were before. but, yes it did work. thank you!

• Can I make the home page my new tab page?

I referenced [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/824876?s=make+the+home+page+my+new+tab+page&as=s] and attempted to use about:home for the url but nothing happened.

The referenced link deals with a different matter; the user wanted a blank tab to open but was getting an arbitrary page opening instead.

• When I left-click the home button, how can it open my home page in a new tab?

I thought it used to do that. I had to do a clean install of Windows, I believe I was only on FF 22 or 23 when this happened. Now I'm on FF 26 and obviously all my settings are gone.
I'm 99% sure that when I left-clicked on my home button, it opened my home page in a new tab. I know I can middle-click to get that affect, but it used to be left-click and I do that automatically now. But I don't want to lose the current window I have up, so something's wrong.
Anyone know how to fix this? Or an add-on to do this?

If you hold down the Ctrl key while left clicking the Home button then the home page opens in a new tab.
You can also middle-click the home button like you can with any other link

• New Tab - How to prevent opening the Home Page

I've got Safari set to open the 'BBC News' web page as my Home Page on start up.
For some reason it has also started opening this page when I click 'Add Tab". If I click 'Add Tab' when I want to navigate to somewhere else (but not lose where I current am in a stack of pages) it has started opening my Home Page every time. Until recently, when I added a tab it would wait for me to add (or search for) a URL before loading it. Now it immediately loads my home page instead.
I don't like this so I would love to know how one turns this feature off? Lord knows how it came to be turn on. I've looked in Safari Prefs of course but I have been unable to identify the correct setting.

Hi,

• How do I get the home button in Firefox 18.0.1 to open the home pages in existing tabs instead of new tabs? I have tried some add on with no luck.

I have tried the following Add on - Tab Utilities and Tab Mix Plus.
Basically on start up of Mozilla, I have five tabs that load. After surfing/working a bit online, I would like to reload the five original tabs back to the original home page/load settings. If I click on the home button, five more tabs load, giving me ten tabs instead of the five original that I desire.
Are there any other add on that would fix this. I tried the two above but either they do not offer it or I don't know what settings to choose.

The best way to keep your home page in the tab is to open other links in a new tab with a middle-click.
Clicking the home page always open a new set, so you would have to close the current tabs first to prevent getting multiple home page sets.
I don't know if there is still an extension that can open the home pages and replace the current set.

Hi,

We have achieved session sharing and launching the Custom ADF app from EBS menu. The problem is, the Custom ADF page opens in the same page.
Is there anyway to open the ADF application in new tab or window while launching from EBS Menu ?

• How do you change the home page of a tab?

My home page is google.nl, but if I open a tab, I don't see google.nl.

Your new tab can be changed to a different page. First, I suggest copying the URL of the page you want from the address bar, then:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter the desired value:
''(i) Page thumbnails (default)''
about:newtab
''(ii) Blank tab''
about:blank
''(iii) Built-in Firefox home page''
about:home
''(iv) Any other page''
full URL to the page (paste what you copied)
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

• After going from firefox to another app. such as mail, I can't go to the dock and re-open my home page. The bar says firefox, but the previous app is on screen and douple-clicking the icon in the dock does nothing.

Problem seems to have started today after alothome.com hijacked my home page and I had to re-select original homepage as default.

I went to add-ons manager and removed ALOT and the problem went away. Post office recommended using ALOT to track a package but it screws up firefox.
Problem solved.

• Babylon Search Engine overrides Home Page and New Tabs - About: Config Reset does not work

Tried new tab homepage addon as well.
Tried uninstalling Babylonobject installer with Revo Uninstaller forced uninstal.
Tried reinstalling firefox.
Setting Homepage to Show a Blank Page works for the startup but means I cannot have a homepage setup.
Firefox detects something trying to change the homepage on start up but does nothing about preventing Babylon even if the change is denied.

It sounds like you have a Third-Party Toolbar that has taken over your Search Engine, Home Page, and/or the Default New Tab Page. Fortunately this can be remedied easily:
# At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
# In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
# Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
# Click the Remove button.
# Click Restart now if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

• Pressing mouse wheel (or Ctrl + Left Mouse Click) on navigation arrows does not open previous/next page in new tab anymore

I am using the new Firefox Developer Edition as a stand-alone on Ubuntu, so I can still use the "old" version, too.
Everything seems to be working fine, as in I am logged in and setup sync. But a few features I got very much used to are no longer working.
When I click on "About Firefox Developer Edition", it shows these details:
Firefox Developer Edition 36.0a2 (2014-12-09)
Firefox Developer Edition is up to date
You are currently on the aurora update channel.
In my "old" Firefox, I can:
1. Click with the mouse wheel on the navigation arrows to open the previous or next page in a new tab.
2. "right mouse click" on the navigation arrows to see the list of previously visited pages of the current tab, and the ones I visited after the page I am on, if I clicked "back" once or more times. I can then click the mouse wheel or "Ctrl + Left Mouse Button" to open any of the pages in the list in a new tab.
None of this works in the Developer Edition.

To clarify, the list of previously or later visited pages does still show up when I right click on the navigation arrows in the Developer Version, but I cannot open any of the links in the list in a new tab with the mouse wheel or "Ctrl + Left Mouse Click".

• How to get most recently view pages in new tab on the new version of firefox

upgraded to the new firefox and now i cannot get my recently viewed site to show when i open a new tab. the little square that is supposed to turn them on and off is not showing up.

You can check if the new tab is still set to the about:newtab page.
You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page.
* browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

• How do I set the Home Page for a newly open tab using the File Tab Menu??

When I open a new tab, is there a way to set the home page the new tab will use when it is opened, or will new tabs always be opened as blank pages?

I have new windows opening when I click on a link. Or when I click on the FF-Icon. New windows are the default setting.
When a new window opens, I get a Google home page and can instantly type in a search phrase.
With the above in mind, sometimes I want to keep search classes in the same window. In a sense I'm using the Window with no tabs, to generate a tab by using the File Tab option.
When a Tab is selected where new windows will launch a new page, and not a new tab, the process of forcing a new tab onto the window will produce a tab page that is Blank, and the new tab label description displayed in the tab area shows the words "New Tab". That tab's URL address bar is blank. Zip - nothing displayed.
When a blank page tab appears, I click on the HOME button you helped me remodel, and the "New Tab" description in the tab label area changes from "New Tab" to "Google".
My question was to ask, if there was a way I could do something to make FF4 do that Home page assignment on its own. In the early FF days I found you could sometimes go into the bowels of FF, find some form of INI or SETTINGS type file, look for a Keyword reference that would tell FF to do something different, and Viola, emotional issue resolved. In this case, I'm trying to "Gild the Lilly" by asking if you, or someone else might have a rabbit they can pull out of their hat, just like you did when you helped me move my Home button, and have that rabbit show me how to do something that default FF-Options section doesn't support.
Did I do a better job of explaining the issue this time?
Thanks again for the response.

• How do I get new pages in new tabs to automatically go the same setting as my home page? Google is my home page, and I want the opening in new tabs to default to Google also.

Whenever I open a new tab, I want the new page to open to the same setting as my Home Page (in my case, Google). Instead it takes me to Bing. Even my Home Page reverts to Bing after I've set it to Google.

The default New Tab in Firefox is a blank page and there is no built-in option to change that.
