How do i open my RAW files in CS6?

I recently bought the Nikon D800 and cannot open/import my RAW files into cs6. So i did some research and found that you have to convert them into DNG's that are compatible. I downloaded the Adobe DNG converter and that program is also telling me that there are no found camera files that are supported...
Can anyone help?!?!

DNG Converter 7.1 RC (beta) can convert D800 files. It's available at Labs.Adobe.com which also has ACR 7.1 RC that will process D800 files in Photoshop CS6.

  • How do I open my raw files in photoshop elements 12 editor-..my files convert to jpegs

How do I open my raw files in photoshop elements 12 editor.  I have a MacBook. I use the iPhoto and move the files I want to work on into elements, but it converts the raw files into jpeg files.
    Thanks for your help!!!

Are you opening the image directly from iPhoto? Right click & choose Edit in >> Photoshop Elements Editor
This link is old but gives information on set up. It relates to PSE11 but the principle is the same. In iPhoto prefs you navigate to the editor application in the support files folder. Start from Finder by holding down the Alt (Optn key) and choosing Library.

  • How do i open a raw file in lightroom

how do I open a raw file in lightroom?

Yes, those are good links, but let's clean up the terminology too so we're all talking the same language.
There is no "open" in Lightroom when referring to photos.
You can "import" photos into Lightroom ... this means that now Lightroom has registered the photo's location and other pertinent information into its database, but it does not store the photo itself in the Lightroom database (or anywhere else in Lightroom), so Lightroom never contains your photos; the photo continues to be stored on one of your hard drives, wherever you want it to be, and the file is visible in your operating system.
Once you have imported the photos, then Lightroom can perform tasks on the photos, such as Develop, Print, e-mail or upload, etc. and once you have imported photos into Lightroom, you should not move or rename or delete them outside of Lightroom.

  • I have a Fuji X-Pro1 camera. How do I open its RAW files using Photoshop CS5. I use Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5

I have a Fuji X-Pro1 camera. I use Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5  I have Photoshop CS5.  How do I open its RAW files?

Since photoshop cs5 can't use past the camera raw 6.7 plugin and that camera requires at least the camera raw 7.1 plugin, you could use the 8.7.1 dng converter
to convert the files to dng copies, which then photoshop cs5 should be able to open.

  • How can I open 100D RAW files in CS4, I have tried everything.

Hi guys, can someone please help me.  I am trying to open 100D RAW files in PS CS4.  I have tried so many things including downloading the plug in and even DNG converting but would rather be able to open RAW files direct and not have to convert everything to DNG anyway as it is time wasting.  Can someone please help!  Thanks, Jen.

    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The 100D is supported from ACR 7.4, which was released shortly after the camera came on market. ACR 7.x requires Photoshop CS6 to run, and won't work in the by now very old Photoshop CS4.
So your only option is to convert to DNG and open those in ACR 5.x / PS CS4. (or upgrade, of course, but I take it you don't want that).
    EDIT: assuming Canon 100D.

  • Opening a RAW file in CS6

When I open a RAW file, it no longer opens in the RAWsettings.  How do I make sure a file opens in RAW settings.

Ask in the PS/ ACR forum and provide details about your system, what RAW file and so on. Nobody can operate based on such vague and generic info.

I'd really appreciate some simple 'idiot steps' that will enable me to open camera raw files (nefs) in CS6...
you will have to assume that I am an idiot and know nothing about Macs (one of which is true, the other debateable!)
    thank you

I bought CS6 to open my raw files from Nikon D 800 and cannot open them ...

    Hi Yasinaros,
Have you installed the updates for photoshop cs6?
From within photoshop cs6 go to Help>Updates.
That should include the latest version of camera raw which is 7.3

  • How do I open my raw files from my nikon 7100 (NEF files) in adobe photoshop

I recently downloaded a trial version of photoshop cc along with bridge and the adobe dng converter. All of which was suggested after finding out that my CS4 suite was no longer supported. I am sad to report that I still cannot open the files and the adobe support link offered no assistance on a trial version. How am I to know if it works or to be encouraged to continue with the cc versions after the trial? Any suggestions?

Thanks!! Eventhough I had loaded the newest version of the Nikon software that came with my camera, I did not do it until after I had transferred my images using the pevious version for an older camera. Didn't think it mattered at the time since it seemed to transfer fine. I deleted all my raw files and repeated the transfer. Thank God I didn't have delete upon transfer selected and still had the images on my camera. Anyway, it worked and you have brought me up to speed and out of the frustrated artist mode I was slipping into. I no longer need the converter.

  • How do I open muliple raw files in ACR hosted by Photoshop?

    Hi,
This one is annoying the hell out of me.  I used to highlight multiple raw files in Bridge and just press Enter (being the equivalent to File -> Open) and the images would all open together in one ACR interface with the filmstrip down the side.  Now, however, one file opens and if I hit cancel or done, the second image THEN opens, and so on and so forth.  If instead of pressing Enter I choose File -> Open in Camera Raw or I right-click and Open in Camera Raw, it works fine and does what I want (or if I click the aperture symbol on the toolbar at the top).  It's a minor annoyance I suppose but and annoyance nonetheless.
The worst part is that it worked fine until I uninstalled CS5.1.  I had CS5.1 no problem, then installed CS6/CC alongside it.  I got eveything working how I wanted in CS6/CC and then uninstalled CS5.1.  I may be wrong on the exact timing of the problem and therefore it may be a Red Herring, but it seems fairly close together when this started.
Notes:  There is no expansion bar on the left of ACR that is just hiding the filmstrip.  Which is consistant with the fact that the second image does in fact open after I close the first.  So they are clearly being treated as seperate open actions.  Also, in Bridge, Edit -> Preferences -> General: 'Double-click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge', ticked or unticked makes no difference.  Also in Photoshop, Edit - Preferences -> File Handling: 'Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Supported Raw Files', ticked or unticked makes no difference.
I have also tried changing the above mentioned options, closing PS and Bridge so the preferences file is updates, changing them back to how I want and closing so the preferences file is updated and I get the same results.
I hope I've made it clear what the issue is, and any help would be much appreciated for what may seem a minor thing.
    Cheers

I don't have CC just CS6.  In Photoshop if I use open and select multiple raw file and click open Raw file open one at a time in ACR. One after the other.  If I use Adobe Bridge and select mutiple raw files and open with the default application ACR open with all raw file or double click. It also opens like that from CS6 mini brdge.  In any case the bridge must be running.

  • How do I open my raw files in Photoshop that have been shot with a Nikon D1700?

I can't open my raw images in Photoshop, I have updated Photoshop but it is still coming up with ...' Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information'.  The photos have been taken with a Nikon D1700

It means that you'll either have to use the Adobe DNG converter and convert your RAW files to DNG first, or upgrade to CS6, or use Lightroom to export (TIFF) to Photoshop.
I used the DNG converter for years before finally upgrading Photoshop.  It was an extra step, but it just became part of my workflow - put card into reader, download RAW files, go grab a beer, batch convert to DNG, drink beer, edit in Photoshop.  But had I known about how powerful Lightroom was I would have switched over to LR long before and just used that to export to Photoshop when necessary.

  • Open a RAW file in CS6 sent from LR4

    I am running LR4 and CS6 on a PC, Windows 7 OS.
I would like to send a raw file (CR2 or .ORF) from LR using the "Edit In" mode to CS6 and have it open in ACR, or be able to open it in ACR.  Is this possible, if so how?
I have tried a number of approaches, none have worked.  Lightroom support told me I needed to uninstall LR and reinstall.  Before that I thought I would ask the question here.
    Thanks,
    Allen816

    Hi Allen
Simply click on your thumbnail in the Library module and then click Develop. You will then save yourself the round trip. Develop is the same as ACR.
When you click Edit In, Lightroom will render an export copy for pixel editing based upon your handling settings in the external preferences tab. Clearly you don’t want pixel editing so stay in Lightroom.

  • Nikon D4s - How do I open this RAW file?

Could someone please tell me how to open a NIkon d4s file in LIghtroom5?  I understand this camera is not yet supported.
When might an update be available?  Any means around this issue?  Bridge? Photoshop?  I am not a CC user at this time.
    Thank you,

Adobe issued a "Release Candidate for Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 RC" and you will need PS CS6 or CC to update to this version of Camera Raw.
Info is available at the following link.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/
It is expected that an update to Lightroom 5.4 should be released soon (Adobe does not usually supply this info as to when), so soon can mean "when its tested and ready".
In the meantime you can use the Adobe DNG Converter version 8.4 RC, to convert your NEF files to DNG and then you will be able to use the DNG in PS CS5 and LR 5.3. Make sure that when you use the converter you take the option to  retain a copy of your NEF file for use in the event the profile for your camera is improved/enhanced.

  • How do I open RAW files in CS6?

Hi sorry if this has been posted before but I dont really know what im doing on here. I was wondering how i can open my RAW files in photoshop to edit them. Do I need a plug in? If so which one and how would I go about installling it. My camera is a Canon 500d that the RAW files are coming from.
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Have you copied the images from your camera to your computer?
After that in photoshop, you should just be able to go to File>Open, pick one of the camera raw files from your camera and camera raw dialog should open.
When your done in camera raw, press the Open button to open the photo into photoshop.
