How do I open Word documents with docx extensions when I have Word 2004

How can I open Word docs with a docx extension when i have Word 2004?  I tried Open XML format files but can't get it to open.  Can I save the file in the old Word extension?

Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8 doesn't support more than one document opened at a time. Good feature request! Thanks.

  • Receiving word docs with .docx extension

I have been receiving word documents with .docx extension, which then open only in Text Edit rather than Word for Mac. It loses the formatting and the ability to edit and return to the sender. Is it because of the version of Word they are using? Can I convert it into a document I can open in Word?

Forgive my ignorance but I have never hear of iTunes Document Manager Pro. If you mean Document Manager Pro, i was able to find that. Back to your problem, have you tried opening one of those files in the iOS iWorks apps? Form the quick read that I did about this, .cwk files can be opened by Pages, Numbers or Keynote, depending on what type of document that it is and those files can be read by Document Manager Pro, after properly saving them. I don't see that you can go directly from the .cwk file in Document Manager Pro without converting them first.
I took a very quick look at the app, so I may be a missing something about its capability.

  • Regarding documents with .docx extension

we have a fully functional knowledge repository .my requirement is when i upload a document of extension .docx and when i try opening it the portal is not supporting the format . (same with pptx).
i have tried creating a new mime type under content mgmt/utilities/myme types.
where we need to specify the extension and the mime type  i gave ext as .docx and myme type as application/ms word .but still it dint work
can some one help me .is this the rite approach or there is any other property to check ...even the mime handler service is already activated.
say me whether the myme type i selected is correct
    thanks in advance
    any help will be rewarded
    regards
    swetha pola

    Hi Swetha,
The MIME type of docx file is
    "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document"
Prior to EP7, SP13, the MIME type handler could hold upto 50 chars. But as you can see the MIME type length is more than that, SAP has to increase it upto 256.
This has been taken care of in SP13 in case of KMC NetWeaver 7.0.
Please refer to SAP note [1062725|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1062725&nlang=EN&smpsrv=https%3a%2f%2fwebsmp206%2esap-ag%2ede] for details information.

  • How can u open a file with .exe extension after it was unpacked?

Thank you Linc Davis for THE ARCHIVER, I was able to unpacked the program. However, after it was unpacked, I clicked the file wtih .exe extension and I got a message that this file will not be extract with this program. Is there another way to open file with .exe extension after it was unpacked by THE ARCHIVER...??? Any assistance is highly appreciated.

.exe files are Windows executables and do not run in OS X.  You would have to install Windows to use it.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
    6. Last is Q.  Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs.  It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • How can i open a document with mac that has a windows OS?

i have installed a parallel and windows OS in my macbook pro. I am running some pdf illustrations... i have installed adobe but the document cannot be opened.

If the other posts have not answered your questions, then some more information is needed. What OS are you using, Windows does not say much. Also, what product did you install. Adobe is not a product, but the name of the company with many products. I suspect you meant Reader XI, but I have no clue.

  • Associating requirements in my Word Document with NI Gateway

What do I need to do in order to associate
requirements in my Word Document with NI Gateway? I have created a MS
Word Style defined as Requirement_ID and Requirement_Text and applied
them to their respective parts of the document but when I load the
document in NI Gateway I get no response.

    jstrong -
You could customize the Word NIRG Type to add a new Requirement element which uses a regular expression to parse Table information.
When you include requirements in a Table, NIRG parses that information into the intermediate file in the form of |d Requirement_ID     REQX: blah, where "|" specifies the beginning of a new cell in the row and d specifies the cell number.
Please take a look at the attached project which is a modification of the NIRG Word example. You'll notice that I use a custome Type called Word1 to load the Word Example - Requirements.doc file.
    Hope this helps!

  • Opening Word documents with Appleworks

I often receive Word documents as email attachments (though my hotmail account). I can download these Word documents to my desktop but when I click on them to open them I get an offer to purchase MS Word (which I do not have). I would like to be able to simply open the Word documents with Apple works--and I am hoping I can just click on them and have that happen automatically. But it doesn't. I have tried opening Appleworks and going into the wordprocessing program and then opening the Word document through that, but it only is successful part of the time. What can I do? I would like to have these Word douments open automatically in Appleworks but every time I click on them (i.e., their icon on my desktop) I get that advertisement from Microsoft asking me to buy Word. Is this ad blocking a normal function of Appleworks that would otherwise allow me to open Word documents with a click? And in any case, how can I proceed?

The ad for Word is almost certainly being tacked on through or at Hotmail (taglines or adware from Hotmail? Hoodathunk .....) ; it sure isn't coming from AppleWorks or from anything on your own system, unless you have that demo copy of Office still lurking somewhere. I suppose it could come from that, somehow.
Assuming you can get a clean attachment downloaded to your Desktop from Hotmail, the procedure for having what you want to happen automatically is fairly straightforward and, really, has nothing at all to do with Appleworks. Try the following:
--> Select (highlight) one of those downloaded .doc files from Word, then
--> use the Finder's Get Info command (⌘-I). In the window which appears,
--> see the "Open with" section, and set it to AppleWorks.

HELP!!!! I have spent hours trying to find out how to embed an image with a link, or embed a Microsoft Word document with a hyperlink built within the document -- not as an attachment into my email -- but where it shows as the email content when opened! Does ANYONE know the secret? Can it be done, or not? My PC clients do it all the time easily. Then I want to be able to send the embedded image/document (not as an attachment, but visable within the email when opened) to many email contacts at once, BUT the individuals receiveing them DO NOT SEE the other email contacts. Cannot seem to be able to find anything on being able to do these 2 tasks.PLEASE, SOMEONE, HELP!!!

  • Merging word document with pdf file how do you renumber pages?

After merging a word document with pdf file, how do you renumber pages?  The pdf has more pages than the word document.  I first converted the word document to a pdf, using Acrobat Standard 9.

    Hi Petek ,
After you merge the files or combine files ,click on the Page Thumbnails panel on the left hand side.
In the Page Thumbnail panel ,right click and you will get a drop down list .Select the option "Number Pages".
You will see a dialog box with several options .You can renumber the pages from there as per your requirement.
