How do I organise bookmarks so they appear in a permanent column at the left side of the Firefox window?

If I open Bookmarks and select a folder that is longer than the Firefox window is high, the part of the bookmarks list that falls outside the window remains on the desktop when I leave bookmarks or close the window. I must then do a refresh of the desktop to get rid of the junk. Does not happen with MS IE9. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a SONY VAIO laptop. It started when I went to the VAIO last November. A "Show Desktop" or a refresh of the desktop cleans it up.
Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches with some graphic cards/drivers.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

I like the bookmarks on the left side of the screen. I don't want to be navigating through a tree of all of my various bookmarks. How can I display all of my bookmarks along the left side of my browser window like earlier versions of Firefox?

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

I switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox and my bookmarks don't appear to have been transferred. The FAQ's say it should be in a folder marked Internet Explorer in the "Bookmarks Menu", but it's not there.
Did you see a "Bookmark" tab in your Menu Bar? All of your IE Favorites should be there if you pull it down.

Why are some jpg images scrambled when they appear in my screen saver? The same images look fine in Preview and Finder. Some images appear scrambled in the screen saver 'preview' window and the actual screen saver. Other jpg images look fine.
The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos. However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled. What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

When a stranger's Apple ID appears on your Mac in conjunction with an update for an app that you have never installed, you have a pirated app on your Mac. The pirated app is not the app calling for the update. This pirated app has been cracked with the MAS receipt from usually a free app, often Angry Birds or Twitter, acquired by the person whose Apple ID you see.
You may not have realized that it was a pirated app when you installed it. You may have believed that it was a trail version or a "free" version.
All MAS apps have a MAS receipt in their app bundle. Check any app acquired from the MAS. Right click on the app's icon in your Apps folder and choose Show package contents. In the Contents folder is a _MASReceipt folder and in that folder is the coded MAS receipt. It has the Apple ID of the MAS account that bought/acquired the app from the MAS. It is that receipt that the MAS uses to alert you that an app has an update. There would not be a notice of an update with someone else's Apple ID showing in the MAS on your Mac, if there was not an app with a receipt from this person's account somewhere on your Mac.

This app is easier to use and seems to be more powerful than Spotlight. Open FAF and in the box type _MASReceipt and press Find. It should come up with a list of every app on the Mac with a MAS receipt. Compare the apps with receipts in FAF's list with your purchased apps list in the Mac App Store. The odd app out should be the pirated app. -
My songs I add from my external harddrive do not play in itunes. They appear when I search them in the search bar in Itunes but if I click on the album it does not come up instead an album from icloud plays.HELP!

The simple fact that it shows up in iTunes Search means it is in the iTune library.
It is a bug where some imports do not show up in the iTunes library (but they usually show up in Recently Imported playlist) until a restart of iTunes, which usually fixes it. -
I tried to install an app from Channel 4 in the UK and got a message that my account would not allow that. Now I appear to be permanently connected to the UK ITunes Store. How to get back to the USA store?

Since wednesday morning the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth of my iPhone 4S have not been wirking any more. They appear as "unactive". I restored the system, updated it to 7.0.4., but nothing changed. Can anyone please help me?Last night I wiped the phone and did a complete restore. Lo and behold the wifi was working again after the restore finished. GREAT. 30 minutes later went to look at the phone and no wifi again, great!
So if my wifi chip coincidentally fried itself during the update, I supposed it coincidentally unfried itself during the restore, only to fry itself again later. Clever chips these. -
I find the "view Coupon" ad that appears in the upper right hand corner of the Firefox window a great annoyance. I would like to remove it from my computer. Can you tell me how to do this?

All of the instructions seem to ask me to start with the firefox window. I cant get this to appear. As an alternate, I have opened Mozilla and clicked on the icon in the upper left corner, but no Options" appears in the drop down menu. (the only items listd are restore, size, etc). What can I do?
You most likely have the menu bar visible instead of the Firefox button, [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]

it is very slow online and when i went on today there was a message to reset to default settings. when i clicked that, it told me to go to the firefox window so i could reset. i don't know how to get to the firefox window. firefox immediately goes to my browser which is comcast. when i click on firefox above, it stays in comcast.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

How do I report an obvious attack website to Mozilla for addition to the Firefox filter?
I went to this URL http:// uqam-antispyware. co. cc/ fast-scan/ (obviously don't go there) which makes the firefox window as small as possible and starts churning through cookie information. Highly suspicious behavior in my mind and the resize makes me think it should be part of the filter. I have no idea how to contribute to that filter because your website is a bigger mess than Western Japan is right now.

Sorry, that isn't possible any more in Firefox, except for pop-up windows that a web site opens itself, and that can be overridden by the user with a simple preference setting in Options.
Users can't change or set the window size in their own browser from the URL bar any longer, they have to do it via the Scratch Pad in Web Developer menu under the Firefox button. -
I'm running Windows 7 and Firefox 6.0.2. When I have all Firefox windows minimized and am working in another program, the Firefox windows just randomly open in front of my other app and interrupt me. I have to minimize them again. It is extremely distracting and annoying, and often interrupts in the middle of something important. How can I stop Firefox from doing this?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
