How do I overlay text or a logo in VLC on a mac?

I want to add text to a video file. I've been trying, but I can't figure it out. i mess around with the filters, but it won't show up in my extended controls. If there's a better way to do it (besides converting the files and using iMovie or paying for new software) that would help too!

Thanks for your input. I Highlighted the article and then I went to Safari Preference, advanced and turned on highlighting. However when I scrolled down the page and tried to highlilght elsewhere the highlight disappeared. Also the highlight was in blue. What else should I do?

I am trying to design a text logo that will have different faces of people of different race on it, please how can I develop the text such that the pictures of those faces will be on it?
Does the picture have to be at the background? Which platform (Photos, Illustrator etc) do I have have to use?

Place your video clip (or still image clip) on track v1. Then place your text clip immediately above it on track v2. The text will overlay the image. (Note: it doesn't necessarily have to be v1 & v2 - what's important is that the text clip be on a video track higher than the video clip/image clip.)
Generally best to use white text, sans-serif font, larger than you might think you initially wanted.

Many users find the excellent and highly-recommended BorderFX more than meets their needs.
A couple of things to note:
- "Photos" misleads us into an understanding of what we manipulate with our computers that differs from what our computers are programmed to manipulate. Within Aperture, you have Images (called, imho confusingly, also Versions and also Photos); outside of Aperture you have image-format files that you see listed in the Finder and use in other programs. BorderFX lets you overlay text and watermarks, and add borders, to Images in Aperture. When you do this, a new file is created and automatically imported (it becomes a new Original). You can also export via BorderFX, in which case a file based on your Image and the changes you've set in BorderFX is saved to the location (outside of Aperture) that you specify.
- Adding text to an Image is a _graphics_ operation, and not a _digital camera file_ operation: it is outside the remit of Aperture, which hews to being a photographer's non-destructive RAW digital camera file storage and development workspace. You use Aperture to store, organize, and develop (make as good as possible for a particular use) digital camera files. When you need a new graphics file, you (generally) export your Image from Aperture, and create new graphics files using a graphics program (e.g.: Photoshop, Pixelmator, GIMP, etc.). Graphics programs are built from the ground up as compositors. Aperture does almost no compositing. BorderFX is a slick, purpose-driven compositing plug-in.

I attached a SubVI which I used to place an overlay next to a Pattern, found by a Pattern Match before:
As you can see, you simply pass the image reference and the Array of Matches to the VI along with the String you want to have as an overlay next to the Match.
I also modified your VI a bit, but didn't test it. I created an Array of clusters, each elment containing the template path along with the respective text.
Please note that this is just a hint!

How to make a text becoming more and more visible?

Maybe I didn't use google well, but I didn't find anything in the internet what could solve my question.
I basically want to work with a white background, where a text is on which becomes more and more visible the more it comes closer to the bottom. The tricky thing is, it's for a website, so it has to be responsive for smartphones or tablets for example (first idea: put the white background layer to the front like it makes the text behind it more and more visible/invisible?). Any ideas how to solve that? Would be so great to know.

I'm not sure what it means to "be responsive for smartphones or tablets"... People put complex graphics on those things all the time. They have unprecedented power.
Photoshop can help you do what you're describing. What you want is no more complex than putting a gradient mask on a layer so as to create partial transparency. You could have fading text (as a graphic) or a fading solid color fill that would overlay text rendered by a browser.
Just some graphic ideas...
Save as a PNG-24 to get partial transparency that a browser can render.

That's the same question:
how can I access something (a page item) on a page…
Answer: you need something unique in that object you can get a handle on.
Or you use the selection a user of your script is doing and work with that selection…
A "scrollable frame" is nothing special. What it makes it a "scrollable frame" is the DPS software.
So you have to look for attached labels on the object, that identify the object for the PDS plug-in "Overlay Creator" as a "scrollable frame". That's possible with the "extractLabel("KeyString")" function. But you need to know the appropriate key-string in advance.
In another of your thread in the DPS forum, I basically answered the question how to obtain those key-strings.
When knowing the key-string you could loop through all your page items (you can skip all text frames) in the allPageItems-collection, to identify the "scrollable frame" by extracting the right label.
If you have more than one "scollable frames" you need a second unique identifier for the particular object.
That could be nearly any property.
Keep in mind, there is no "scrollableFrames" collection in the DOM !

IMAQ Overlay Text.vi: "User-specified Font" ignored

I'm trying to use "IMAQ Overlay Text.vi" use draw a fixed-width tag on an image. In my trials so far, I cannot determine how to use any other font but the default. The "User-specified Font" choice appears to ignore my font requests, but does use my size and bold settings.
What I've tried so far:
Use LabVIEW to tell me font names via the application drop-down menu, and then type one in verbatim into the "Font Name" component of the "User Specified Font" cluster.
Use another Windows program (like Write.exe) to give me font names, and then typing one in verbatim as before.
Use a nonsense font name to provoke some kind of "font not found" error, but none were raised.
This third data point makes me think that a default font is selected if the user's is not found. How do I learn which font names this VI will use? LabVIEW can see and use the font I want, but not IMAQ :-(

Please make your examples easier to discover and find. With help from Silver_Shaper, I was able to find the example, but the directions on your website are incomplete and misleading. To experience the frustration first hand, follow the link in Silver_Shaper's post and read and follow the text.
You will find that it is incomplete: the article takes you halfway there, pointing you to to "Help » Find Examples... » Toolkits and Modules", but doesn't follow through and ask you to expand "Vision » Functions" before you find the example.
But once you're there, you will also find that the article is misleading. The article is called "Overlay Text on Image" and the same title is used in the overview, but on disk it is called "DrawText Example.vi" and the real name can only be found in the front panel image.
Please confirm the bug or my misunderstanding of "IMAQ Overlay Text.vi", and please confirm that you will update that article.
