How do I pause screen saver?

I have a number of pictures set up as a slide show for my screen saver.  Sometimes, I want to pause and look at the picture for a a while longer ... but not exit out of slide show.  I have been a Mac user for a long time and have lived through several iterations of screen pause commands.  In Windows (sorry to invoke the dreaded "W" word), the process is quite simple: One presses the space bar to pause and presses the bar again when one wishes to resume the slide show on the screen saver.  One can also hit the "back " key to look at a previous picture.  I have tried a variety of combinations with my Mac - using OS 10.8.4.  Any suggestions?

Don't get me wrong, but the concept of "pausing" is ill-applied to a screensaver, whose purpose is to maintain permanent on-screen movement in order to avoid burn-in or image retention.  Additionally, the typical method of coming out of a screensaver is keyboard interaction.
Maybe you should find some dedicated screensaver software that you can launch/activate with a simple keystroke instead of using the OS X Screensaver for this purpose?  At the moment, your aims are at odds with the tool you're employing.
Good luck

    HI All,
How to Change the  Screen Saver Settings to Mystify in Windows 7 using vbscript?

    First: What is a GPO?
Second: jrv, that was not too helpful in general. someone should do some actual code.
Bob Blork - Mark as answer if it helped!
This is a forum for technicians and not for home users.  GPO is what technical people use to manage Windows. THe script to do this is in the link I posted - how is that not helpful?
I know this is all over your head.  I am curious as to why you would respond in a technical forum to a question you do not understand.
We do not provide free scripts.  We also will point users at correct answers.
This is not a forum for homw users or for simple support questions.  It is also a thread that has been  answered for a long time.  Perhaps you should start a new thread if you have an actual question about scripting.

HA!  I figured the find my iphone out!!!!! You can have more than one icloud account in "Mail, Contacts and Calendars".  So my husband's & kids' phone icloud account under "settings, icloud "is their individual @me.com account.  Set it to everything you want EXCEPT Find My Iphone.  Then under "settings, mail/contacts/calendars" you set up both accounts (your @me.com which may already be there), then add another with the main appleID and enable ONLY Find My Iphone.  Now when any of us log into Find My Iphone from any device with our main apple ID for the app store, all the devices show up!!!! YIPPEE.  I made my own day!
I think the message I got previously was because I hadn't disabled the find my iphone on the @me.com account first.

  • How to stop the screen saver?

Twice in the past two weeks, the screen saver come on when i'm watching a moving and pressing the D key or esc doesn't get it to disappear.  I've been powering off entirely and i know this isn't good.  Any advice as to what might be causing this and of course, how to correct it when its happening will be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Try resetting the NVRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
    Release the keys.

  • How to erase the screen saver history/library

How do I erase (or empty) the screen saver library and history?
    I've already gone to both
    <Users>/<user>/Library/Screen Savers
    <drive>/Library/Screen Savers
    Those folders are empty
I can't seem to get into <Users>/<admin>/Library/ -- that folder is totally locked (despite me being logged as the administrator)
    suggestions?
    thanks

You need to close System Preferences and open filder
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
    Delete a file called
    com.apple.screensaver.*.plist
Your file will have a random sequence of numbers and letters, I have replaced them in this example with an asterisk.

  • How to turn off screen saver?

Why does my ipone go blank after i dial a number?  Is there a screen saver option?

You mean when you hold it up to your face to talk? It's supposed to do that so you don't press buttons with your cheek... If you are on speakerphone or headphones, the screen will dim, then blank after a short time to save battery.

  • How do i change screen saver setting, it's on and i can't turn it off

ugh, can't view anything on the tv but the APPLE.  voice says screen saver is "on" and i can't find any documentation about screen saver.

You'd need to enable/disable/setup under Settings menus.
If you can't get out of it unplug the unit and restart.
If still no joy you may need to restore the unit connected to iTunes computer using a microUSB cable.

  • AppleTV- how to keep the screen saver going indefinitely...

..or at least until it puts itself to sleep.
I have a lovely AppleTV whose floating picture gallery kinda makes me (and my in-laws) happy.
But for some reason it goes away after 15minutes (+/-).
It does not bear any relation to the sleep time of the device (1 hour).
There doesn't seem to be any setting that accounts for this.
    I'm totally bewildered!

It just goes dark. It just...goes away.
It's like it sleeps but it's not set to sleep for 1 hour.
    Weird.
    (AppleTV2 btw)

  • HT204379 Choose how long each screen saver slide shows for?

There used to be an option to choose how many seconds each "slide" would show in Screen Saver. I don't see that option in Mountain Lion, only how many minutes until Screen Saver comes on. Is there still any way to do that?  My slides change more quickly than I want them to...

Thank you for the advice, but I think you misunderstood what I am trying to do.  I know about Home Sharing and have set this up along with many of my photo albums.  I can access them when my Apple TV is on.
I am trying to customize the screen saver for the Apple TV.  When I go into settings - Screen Saver, I get a list including National Geographic, Flowers, etc. and also My ICloud.  I choose My ICloud and it gives me two Options - Photo Streaming (which contains pictures taken in the last 30 days) and a second Option - Activity.  I am guessing this would allow me to use specific photos.   But it says "This album is empty."  I would like to use about 30 - 40 photos as my screen saver but have no idea how to get them into that Activity album.
I created an Activity Album in IPhoto, filled it with the photos I want to use, then tried to share it to ICloud.  The color wheel stays on for awhile which I thought  was indicating the transfer.  But I go back to Apple TV, turn it on, go to Settings - Screen Saver but it still shows Activity is empty.

  • When is Apple going to fix the screen saver

I've read some threads on how to stop the screen saver from changing back from settings that the user applies and none of them seem to work. So, When is Apple going to fix this problem?

These are mostly user to user discussions, so we don't know.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
    Feedback
Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.

  • Not all pictures appears in my screen saver

How come with my screen saver picture from my photos flux only the last three appear.
I have 175 photos in my flux and only the last 3 one's appear.

As I said the photo stream will only have access to photos from the last 30 days. You cannot change that.
If you want to choose photos from your computer then make sure home sharing is enabled on Apple TV and iTunes. In iTunes select file - home sharing - choose photos to share. Keep on mind it only caches a small amount for the screensaver, typically around 100 photos.

Does anyone know of a tutorial that shows how to make a

There is no tutorials because you can't make screen saver in
    Flash program.
You need 3rd party tools that will convert the swf or exe
    into save, flash itself
    can't do it.
Check www.flashjester.com , tool call Creator

What Mac OS version are you running and what processor type is in your computer?
You can find both by clicking the Apple icon at the left end of the menubar and selecting "About this Mac" from the menu that appears. The info I requested will be in the About ths Mac window:
The two lines I've indicated with red arrrows will tell us a lot about your iMac.
