How do I permanently prevent Yosemite installing on my Mac?

I accidentally clicked on Install All in the App Store when I did not mean to update from Snow Leopard to Yosemite.
I immediately hit Pause to stop it getting any further but am concerned it may continue the installation when I restart, which I absolutely do not want!
Is there a method to uncheck the Install option in the App Store?
I am running Yosemite from an external hard drive but do not want it on my internal hard drive.

This is very good advice. You will not be forced to install Yosemite, since you can just Quit rather than click on the "Continue" button that you see when the installer lunches. But having a copy of the installer stored for future use is a good idea. If you are chronically short of disk space, consider backing up to an external drive.

There is no way to change the language in Palm Desktop that I am aware of once it is installed.
You may need to remove the current Palm desktop and then download an english version of PD.

They are not taking up storage space. Apple knows you installed them at one time (="purchased", whether you paid money or not), and merely keeps a list so that if you wish to reinstall any of them on this or a future device, you can. This is useful if maybe you deleted them due to space constraints, and now have a device with more memory and wish to reinstall.
It's also useful for taking a trip down Memory Lane looking at all the useless apps you installed once then immediately deleted once you realized they were total garbage ...

Everytime I save a Favorite it goes into the Recently Bookmarked folder which is not what I want. How can I permanently prevent this from happening?

If I copy/paste a link from Recently Bookmarked into Unsorted Bookmarks and then delete the link from Recently Bookmarked the link is then also deleted from Unsorted Bookmarks. WTF!! I have tried numerous way to get a Favorite into Unsorted Bookmarks or one of my other folders to no avail. It always goes into Recently Bookmarked. What's the point of the Recently Bookmarked folder if I then can't organize my Favorites the way way I want them. At this point I hate Recently Bookmarked and want to permanently banish it or I'm just going back to Windows Explorer. At least Explorer's bookmarking system works. BTW, I run Windows 7 Home Premium.

How do I PERMANENTLY PREVENT ff 28 changing to 29 against my will

This has been asked by many people here. NO usable fix was offered to anyone! I respectfully DEMAND a straightforward accurate and complete fix to this issue. I will NOT use FF29 under any circumstances. I WANT 28 to open every time! I do NOT want 28 to be changed to 29 EVER! "NEVER CHECK FOR UPDATES" IS checked. I do not care about the supposed security risks. I have been using FF since version 2 with no issues. That says a lot about your product. There must be a permanent fix for it. I NEED AND WANT IT! The overall version 29 interface is simply not to my liking. As it is not to many users liking either. As long as I could prevent 28 from changing to 29 or future versions I may not like I will stick to it. Since my first email, I saw ONE UPDATE AVAILABLE pop up. It appeared for a few seconds. 28 remained. Maybe this issue fixed itself. Only time will tell. If this issue returns I will try PALE MOON. Not that I have anything against updates as a concept but it should always be a choice and the update should be confined to the issue(s) at hand instead of making major changes that make the update totally different disappointing your users. Or worse making them angry.

There exist some vulnerability in Yosemite.. The last 5 months i have had to remove Superfish 5 times, and Ransomeware 15 times.. Only browser i use is safari, closed source. I have 2 ext Web of Trust, Blur.. Whenever i would sign off from internet a full white screen flashed and then desktop appeared, this also occurs on startup, full white screen flashed then desktop... I had to re calibrate the monitor setting each time this occurs,. WHY??????? Startup got a full white screen for 5 seconds then desktop appeared, started ff and when window and tabs showed white screen flashed tabs then normal window for tabs appeared, when i quite ff the full white screen appeared and then the desktop, after update to 10.10.2 those problems did not occur on ff 35.0.1 . I decided to test with older ff vol and thats when superfish script would run and white screen when ever i went to another application, Suspect ff 28 to be corrupt, or some superfish tool bar may be on the mac..

How many hard drives can i install in my mac pro

How do I know what size hard drives I can install? I currently have 4 x 2TB drives installed and am looking to go bigger. 4 x 4TB would be ideal and if you have suggestions on which drives might give me best performance for HD video editing that would be nice too.
Also can I install more RAM?

Please Help!!! - How do I Permanently Save iPhone Messages to a Mac?

I currently have an iPhone 4s 16 GB and am quickly running out of storage space. I only have about 700 MB of space remaining and my "Other" category is taking up 6.27 GB of space! I believe that most of this is because of my text messages; I have never deleted any of them and I'm in a group message that easily accumulates over 150 texts per day, so I need space, and fast!!! I have read about several programs and am definitely willing to buy one, but I would like first-hand information about these programs. I'm looking for a program that will save my SMS, MMS, and iMessage text messages to my MackBook so that I can delete them from my iPhone. I would need a program that will save the messages permanently. I want to be able to save the messages to the program, delete them from my phone, connect my phone to the program at later dates and save additional messages, and not lose any messages at all. I don't want an app that I can only save messages to once because if I try to save more, it gets rid of the old ones and only saves the new ones. I'm not sure how any of the programs work as far as that goes, so if anyone could reccommend a program to me that would do what I'm looking for, I'd GREATLY appreciate it!!!

Your "other" of 6 GB may include corrupted data or file sytem errors. If after removing the messages there is still >2GB, you will need to restore the phone in iTunes, first using a backup (made after deleting the messages) and if needed as a new iPhone.

Corrupt directory and damage are best handled by booting from another hard drive with latest OS, latest Disk Utility, and ultimately, with SuperDuper.
In some cases it is best to clone and repair, then restore back to original, in this case your SSD.
Just as important, to find out why.
Is it the make/model and firmware of the SSD?
Is it known issue with that model?
Are you using Crucial, OWC, what brand?

If you want to be sure, though, you could download [Little Snitch|http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch> to make sure nothing is making unwanted outgoing connections. (A keylogger installed by someone interested in phishing would be basically worthless if it didn't transmit the information it collected back to the "phisher.") You could also scan through the processes running in Activity Monitor and look for something strange, if you know what processes you should expect to see. However, I agree with Barry that you're likely absolutely fine.

How do I restore mail from Time Machine after a clean Yosemite install?

I've been having various performance issues with my iMac recently (wifi keeps dropping off, scan functionality on my multifunction printer stopped working, whole system periodically hangs) so decided to do a clean install of Yosemite. I also have a MacBook Air, also running Yosemite, and on which I have no issues with the wifi, printer or system performance.
Before doing the clean install, I made sure I had a current Time Machine backup. The process appears to have worked so far, but I have run into an issue restoring my mail. I think it best if I describe how I have restored my documents and then I can show at what point I run into a problem.
To restore documents, I opened Time Machine, used the keyboard shortcut command-shift-C to show the backups prior to the clean install, and then selected the documents I wanted to restore. This was simple and worked perfectly.
To restore my mail, I opened Mail, selected 'Enter Time Machine' from the shortcut menu at the top of the screen and then used the keyboard shortcut command-shift-C to show the backups prior to the clean install. This is where I got stuck as command-shift-C is a default shortcut in Mail that shows the colours dialog box. Hence I have been unable to view the correct backup. The backup I want is listed on the right hand side of the screen in Time Machine, but I can't work out how to select it.
I thought changing the shortcut in Mail might work, but I couldn't find a way to do that either since it is not listed in the Keyboard section of System Preferences.
Any ideas gratefully received.

It sounds like you're still having trouble exposing the proper library folder. You can use the following terminal command to do it globally (this will show all hidden files)
Open Terminal from your appliications folder and copy/paste this into it:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE (press return)
**After that last line you'll need to restart the finder so use:
killall Finder (press return)
Now if you enter Time Machine the correct Library should be visible. To re-hide your hidden files repeat the process above but replace TRUE with FALSE, then use the "killall Finder" again.
I agree with the commenters above, you should restore the Mail library to the desktop and then re-import it to Mail. This is how I was instructed to solve this problem by Mac help, who I chatted with online for quite a while before they figured it out.
