How do i permanently remove "locations' from my mac network?

There are lots of answers on how to remove networks, but not "locations"? I know there is an edit bar that allows me to delete those locations, however, even after deleting, when I close and reopen, there they are again. Help! Thanks.

Do a backup.
Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

How can I permanently remove apps from my iphone, ipad, ipod operating in the iCloud?

Apps don't operate in the cloud - they're either downloaded to your device, or they're in your Purchased list. You can't permanently remove the history of apps you've purchased, but you can hide them. See this link:

How do I permanantly delete mail from my Mac?  I have tried several ways, always comes back.

If you are using iCloud, quit the Mail app if it's open.
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect Mail then re select it.
Relaunch the Mail app and try deleting mail.
If you aren't using iCloud. with the Mail app open, from the menu bar click Mailbox > Rebuild
    Then try deleting mail.

  • How do I permanently remove apps from iCloud?

I would like to permanently remove old and unwanted apps from iCloud and all my devices (iPad, iPhone, and iTunes), but there does not seem to be a way to do this. In fact, there seems to be an strong underlying effort to avoid this option. No discussions, no steps, no Support options.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The apps are not actually in your iCloud storage, they are links to the apps in the App Store. What you are seeing is your purchase history and as such cannot be deleted.
You can however hide your purchases, which you can do from the QuickLinks > Purchased option from the main page in the iTunes Store on your computer.

I just  don't understand what's happened to the Address Book I used to have when I was using previous systems.
This is very confusing, are you saying that on the iCloud website, in Contacts there is only 1 card? yes or no please and refer to the website only

  • How do I permanently remove music from iCloud?

There are many singles in the cloud that I don't want to have take up space, as well it's annoying having to scroll through stuff that's not really there..Thanks

Perhaps you failed to notice the difference between "from the cloud" and "from iCloud"
If you want to know what is in your iCloud, go to System Preferences>iCloud>Manage Storage, and look, it won't take long.

  • How can I permanently delete files from my Mac before I give it away?

I would like to get rid of any pictures, term papers, emails, but keep the Adobe Photoshop on there that I downloaded from iTunes. I'm sure someone would enjoy it.

Well, except you have no right to include purchased commercial software with it unless you also delete that software from your other machines and never use it again yourself (and you need to include any original purchased media for the software along with it).  You purchased a license for you to use it, not for you to sell or give it to someone else to also use.
Also, since you bought the software online from Apple, it is permanently tied to your AppleID, so nobody else could ever update it, or re-download it if needed anyway.
As far as getting rid of the machine, the best approach is to completely erase and re-install the base OS you bought it with.  That will erase all your information and data and give the new owner a nice clean slate to start with so they can set it all up as they wish to.

  • How can I completely remove iMessage from my Mac so that it looks brand new?

I already disabled the account in preferences. I don't want any of my message logs to be on my Mac and I do not know how to remove them. Can anyone help me? '
    I tried this:
Quit out of Messages for Mac
Hit Command+Shift+G to bring up the “Go To Folder” window
    Enter ~/Library/Messages/
Select all files in the Messages directory and move to trash, files will be named chat.db, chat.db-shm, chat.db-wal, etc
Empty the Trash and relaunch iMessages
This didn't work. Any other suggestions?

  • How do I COMPLETELY remove keychain from my mac?

The keychain pop up is on my screen literally every 30 seconds for me to type in a password. At first, I just typed the same password for all of them, but it still popped up just as often. Next, I tried clearing the key chains, locking keychain, and deleting all of the keychain passwords; the pop ups continued to appear. Any time I open an application or a program one of the keychain boxes pops up, and i have to click cancel about40 times in a row for it to go away. my sister has the same mac as I have and we got them the same day, but her's has never had the keychain pop up. I want it COMPLETELY GONE! There is nothing on my computer that requires that much security and it makes using my laptop a pain. HELP!!

This isn’t normal. What program is triggering it, can you tell? Have you opened Keychain Access and used the help menu to access the troubleshooting guide? If not give that a try.

  • HT5824 how do i permanently remove a song that i purchased from my itunes library ?

how do i permanently remove a song that i purchased from my itunes library on my iphone 5s ?

Unfortunately that was empty too. The Firefox upgrade at that time seemed to wipe an awful lot of stuff. After searching, re-installing etc, whatever was suggested, I gave up. It was a while back. I will remember your suggestions if it ever (hopefully not) happens again though. I did have a very old bookmarks backup, but that would not import, so I did use bits of it manually but it had saved as a massive merged line of sites without my folders, so was a bit too much to fiddle with. The loss of the classical music sites was what I regretted most, no idea what they were called and cannot find some of them now. Ah well, no point in fretting about it now I suppose.

    Hi Matt_G again
Sorry I lost the Post connection
Not sure if the beginning of this was posted or not.
To Continue.... I removed "Smart View" using Control Panel/Programs & Features.
Did another search for Zynga on Boot drive - No results for Zynga. PC restart.
No Desktop Icons for Zynga . Another search on boot drive - no Zynga .
    Hope it stays that way.
Not sure where I originally got stuck with Smartview or its purpose, but I'm happy without it , so far.
Hope that's some help to everyone with the annoying Zynga.
    Good luck

You need to uninstall '''McAfee Site Advisor''' which includes the Secure Search box.
The program has its own uninstaller which you need to run called '''Uninstall.exe''' which is located in ''C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\6066''
Follow the prompts to remove it completely from your system and then reboot.

  • How do I permanently delete contacts from my text message log?

How do I permanently delete contacts from my text message log?  It still shows old contacts once I've removed them from my phonebook

i know that!! After you delete them and then compose a new text it is still there. Basically you know when you send an email to someone and do not store them it still auto populates their name. This is what happens with my phone. I Google this issue and learn some knowledge about data eraser tips.  Maybe most people still don’t know that actual contents of file are not really deleted when performing simple deletion operation on your iPhone or other devices. But they are just marked for deletion and not shown in the file system of your iOS device. The actual data are still physically present on your iPhone. For iOS system, the only way to completely erase the data is to overwrite the original contents by using iPhone data eraser app. this is the guide on how to permanently delete contacts on iPhone.
The same thing happens to me, but it doesn't require deleting a contact. When I delete/replace a contact's number, the Messages.app still autocompletes the number with the contact's name and references it as "other".
