How do I permanently uninstall Safari in Lion?

I just bought this Imac as my 3rd apple computer. The Safari in my MacAir and MacPro is fine but this ******* safari in Imac is *&^(*&^%*&^$%*^&%*&&^n me off and wasted all my research and setup times ; when one page refreshes, all 15 tabs refresh with it. I mean this is the new milleniuym age where we are supposed to be using super computers but it seems the higher you upgrade, the more frustrating you get. Am done with it for the XXX times.
I researched the forums and read that there is a chance that Mac OS will be unstable if forced attempt to remove Safari. Has anyone found any way or experienced this destabalizing of the OS?

Paul - I am pretty mad on what Safari did to me and wasted my days of research so I just didnt want to see it. IN addition, one would want to rid any products thta are obviously bugged and flawed and also to prevetn other users from using it and reach the same fate.

Before upgrading to Lion, I was using Snow Leopard. That was when I downloaded and installed Safari 5.1. After that, I upgraded to Lion.
1st problem, Apple.com doesn't offer a Safari for Lion; only Snow Leopard but it's still 5.1

You mentioned that the problems started after the upgrade. It's possible you have a third party add on installed that was compatible with prior versions of Safari but not 5.1.
Manually uninstall third-party add-ons
If the software doesn't have an uninstall feature, quit Safari and try manually removing the third-party add-on files. These files are usually installed in one or more of the following locations:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
/Library/Input Methods/
/Library/InputManagers/
/Library/ScriptingAdditions
~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
~/Library/Input Methods/
~/Library/InputManagers/
~/Library/ScriptingAdditions
The first four locations listed are in the root-level Library on your hard disk, not the user-level Library in your Home folder.The tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library.

Before I had some problems with Mountain Lion, I came back to Lion, but when I migrated my Time Machine backup, I had some compatibility problems with Safari, Mail ans iChat, and they are not opening now because of the version. I tried to reinstall the programs, but a message saying that the version I have is newer appeared and I couldn't install it.
Trying to uninstall the programs, I had problems saying that as the programs are required for mac os x it could'nt be uninstalled.
I tried to repair the permissions but it didn't work.
How can I uninstall Safari, Mail and iChat without problems to the system?

How did you migrate your TM backup? You should have just started from the recovery drive, erase the hard drive, and do a full restore from TM from the last known good backup of Lion. Then everything would have been the correct versions.
The OS will probably not let you delete those applications directly, but you can try moving them to the desktop, then later to the trash when you replace them in the application folder from wherever you are getting the older versions.
But, if you really want to go back to before ML, I would just do a erase and full restore.
On the other hand, I find ML so much better than Lion. Why in the world would you want to go back. Maybe state what problems you have with Mountain Lion and someone else might have advise to help solve those problems.

I downloaded a Safari update when c/net techtracker, which I subscribe to, told me it was out-of-date.
When it downloaded it I realised it was for Mountain Lion and I'm running Lion.
Now I don't have Safari at all. How do I get it back?
I've been in to the App Store and can't find a Safari download for Lion.

The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

Uninstalling Safari on Lion, or a LeechBlock-like extension for Safari?

Hi all,
Hoping for some site-blocker advice
I use Firefox exclusively on my Mac in order for the LeechBlock add-on to be effective (having other browsers that circumvent the block kinda defeats the purpose of having a site blocker). In the past, I just deleted Safari from my Mac and everything was dandy. Now that I've recently upgraded to Lion, it refuses to let me delete Safari, and I've been told Safari doesn't have a LeechBlock equivalent.
Is there a way to get rid of Safari, or better yet, a LeechBlock-like Safari extension that I can install?

Apparently there is one solution. You can install the extension "WastNoTime". It is as good as Leechblock.
For that you have to go to Safari preferences and turn on extensions. You can then download and install the extension from this link: http://bumblebeesystems.dyndns.org/wastenotime/ or you can browse https://extensions.apple.com/ and find it under productivity category.
I am happy that this extension is finally out. I was almost moving to Firefox.

I've tried opening FF in safe mode to uninstall, but the uninstall button for the Norton toolbar extension is STILL locked.

How can I permanently uninstall a trial plug-in in order to install an OLDER version of the same plug-in?

I installed a trial version of the newest Tiffen DFX Photoshop CS4 plug-in, but then tried to install a full but older version of the plug-in directly from a CD. I deleted the plug-in from the applications folder, but now the old version won't install since it says I've got a newer version already installed. But now the trial version is no longer available as an option in Photoshop itself. Help!

In Photoshop, go to the Help menu > System Info. You'll need to scroll down as needed, it's a mighty long list of stuff.
But I just got another thought: Would you happen to have a bootable clone or cloned backup connected to your machine? Maybe you have an installed copy of the plug-in on that machine. The installer would certainly detect it. Just another thought…

Uninstalling Safari??

I know there are a lot of topics on here about this but I cant find helpfull answers. I just did the update for Mac OS X which installed Safari 4 on it. I didn't do the Safari update before because I don't want Safari 4. How do you COMPLETELY UNINSTALL Safari 4 so I can install Safari 3.2.3 back on? I dont have a Time Machine Backup or anything and I am not doing a Archive and Install. Thanks so much.

You can use Pacifist to install just Safari from your original Leopard system disks. I think this gets you Safari 3.2.1. But I don't think you'll be able to upgrade that to 3.2.3.
I think you'll need to do an Archive and Install (followed by an install of 3.2.3) if you really want 3.2.3.

Rather than fiddle with the tar file, if it wasn't saved, or using Pacifist, simply DL and install the
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. It'll wipe all Safari 5.1 components and install Safari 5.0.5.

I am a new mac user so any help would be appreciated. I have a new macbook. I downloaded and installed safari 4 beta and don't like the problems it causes. I can't access hotmail. That would normally work if there was a previous version installed. However, I deleted all my previous versions and the Uninstaller will not uninstall Safari since it can't find a previous version. I downloaded an earlier version 3.2.3 but it tells me that I have a later version installed and won't install 3.2.3. Furthermore, whatever version I bring up has concierge in its header line which I can't get rid of either. Finally, Safari continues to crash even after I reset it, delete whatever concierge items I can find on my computer, etc. Help is disparately needed. Fortunately, I am an old Firefox user, and now trying Camino and Opera but I would like help in figuring out how to use Safari. Thanks.

How do I permanently turn off fullscreen view in Safari? I never want my menubar to autohide and it has been doing so since the last update. Once I click on the little blue arrows at the top right of the screen, it is temporarily fixed but then resets to fullscreen when I re-open Safari.

in any Safari version since full screen was added to OSX.
It almost sounds as if the preference file for Safari may be
corrupted or some other setting file. However, before messing
with that, export your bookmarks (File->Export Bookmarks...)
so you can retrieve them and under the Safari menu, select reset
Safari. If this doesn't resolve things, and since you saved your
bookmarks, in Finder hold down Option key and on the Go menu
select library. In the Preferences folder, find:
com.apple.Safari.plist
and move it to Desktop or trash it. Next time Safari opens it
will recreate the file and see if this fixes the issue.
