How do i PERMANENTLY wipe all my data off my TREO 700w to dispose of it?

Hi - Just got a new Palm Pre for x-mas and am getting rid of my old Palm Treo 700w. How do i wipe off all data from my device so that I can safely give it away to charity w/o fear of my data being seen? I have already done a hard reset, but I have heard that this is not good enough, that some programs out there can still get at my data....

Use Find my IPhone on either iCloud, MobileMe or any other idevice. That is assuming you activated Find my iPhone on your phone. You can remotely lock it and see its location on a map. You can also remote wipe it but BEWARE you will not be able to track it once you have wiped it.

Apple can't do it, only you could potentially do it if you had enabled Find My iPad on it before it was stolen.
If it was stolen then you should report it to the police. As a safety precaution you should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.

Once you are in Recovery Mode, it's too late to do any backup. I am afraid you are going to lose your data.

No, but is something goes wrong with the installation you will wish you had a backup, so make one before upgrading.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

Hi there, my iphone4 does not turn on or connect to iTunes since it broke, however it was still working till the battery ran out ( I noticed it was still working because my app was on and the status showed up on my computer as I was online through my iPhone). So I believe that all of my data are still on that phone, it's just not responding to me, I hope that I could get my stuff back somehow, if this is too much to ask, at least I would like to wipe all my personal info before trade it in, any idea? Please could you let me know if you have any tips for preparing a phone to be sold or given to someone else. I have an N80.
I can take out the memory card, use an external usb reader, and securely wipe that without any problem.
However, it is the phone's internal memory I'm thinking about.
I have tried doing a factory settings reset, but this still leaves text messages, and some applications. I could manually delete / uninstall these, but I'd probably miss something.
I'm not necessarily looking for full secure overwriting (although that would be good), but just some way of deleting all personal data.

Turn the phone off, get someone to help you at this point. Whilst you hold down the green phone, the star(*) key and the number (3) key, get the other person to turn the phone back on. Keep holding down the keys as idicated until the unit prompts for the pin or if no sim is inserted plays the nokia hands welcome video.
Phone would have been restored to "out of box" state!

I am extremely disappointed and angry with Apple service. I am a writer and booked three weeks in Spain so that I could finish my book. On the second day my laptop cut out on me asI was working on it, so I took it to Goldenmack in Cadiz. Not only was I given someone else's macbook when I went back to collect it, but then when I returned to the UK, the Apple shop in Brighton managed to delete ALL my data from the hard drive because I was unlucky enough to get a trainee on her first day. I have since learned she should not have deleted my data without even running a diagnostic. She told me she was going to 'restore' the drive. I took this to mean she was going to restore my work. But no! She erased the lot.
I complained and eventually was put in touch with a supervisor, who I was told had authority to resolve the issue. She said she would get the shop to phone me. That was ten days ago and I'm still waiting.
Ok so there's nothing I can do now to get back the three chapters of my book that I have lost and didn't back up, but the hard drive on this laptop is still faulty. I try to back up my work every time I use the machine but as soon as I attach an external drive, the whole thing shuts down. I can't use it any more as I can't risk losing any more work. This laptop is only just over a year old and this is just not acceptable, especially since I have really looked after it.
This is an appalling service I have encountered from Apple, and I am not going to ignore it. I have contacted the young chap whose laptop I was erroneously given, and the repair of which I paid for! (although I did eventually get a refund), to ask him if he had been given mine as well. He said he had been completely unaware that his laptop had been given to me and he is furious as he had loads of "sensitive material" on it." I have no idea in whose hands my laptop has been either, or indeed what damage it sustained while it was supposed to be in for repair.

Look at classes Calendar and SimpleDateFormat.
And get your abstraction straight: you don't have two dates. You have two Strings that represent a date. To use them, you have to convert them to Date objects first with SDF.

How can I get my all my data on my new iphone 5?

I have a huge problem. Just received my iphone 5 today. I have an iphone 4 currently running v 4.2.1. I have not been able to update due to computer issues with my mac (I was planning to buy a new mac in the next few months so I didn't worry about it). I can't get cloud back up on my iphone 4. I can't sync my new iphone 5 to my mac because of it does not have the new version downloaded on it.
Am I stuck with this problem? Is there a solution to get all my data onto my new iphone?

There is no solution, not if your existing Mac is not able to run a compatible OS X and iTunes version.
