How do I place tabs in a large PDF to create sections?

I want to make my file more user-friendly by placing tabs and bookmarks in the file for navigation. I have already gotten the bookmarking down, I just can't seem to figure out how to create tabs. When I say tabs I mean like binder tabs that run along the side of the navigation pane. I cannot seem to find this information anywhere. I have Adobe Pro and InDesign available to use and I do not know which one to use either....

Hi,
Copy the content of PDF file in Adobe Reader and paset it to MS Word then create PDF file from the Word file.
This may not work for all PDF files as some PDF files are not created correctly or some content cannot be copied.

comment the myTaskHomeOperation managed bean. For inidivual links , comment the respective Task related managed beans from the XMl.
There on, save the changes and update the oim.ear deployment from weblogic admin console.

How do i extract pages from a large pdf file?

I have Windows XP, with Adobe Reader 9 and PDF version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) installed. I received a large pdf file (19,000KB) with 25 pages of architectural drawings. I want to extract just 8 pages from that document. Under the Documents Properties Tab, it states page extraction is allowed. How do i do this?

I'm not an Acrobat user. But if you have a PDF print driver or if Acrobat 5 5 has a print PDF mode you can tell the PDF print driver to print the page number that you want and it should prompt you to save the individual page in PDF format. If you don't have a PDF print driver you can Google PDFCreate and got to its website and download it and install it.

There are various ways this can be done. One way is to use a back-end application to pre-populate a copy of the PDF with the data and then serve it to the user, but that is quite complex to implement. Another way would be to use parameters in the URL to do it. That can be done more easily with a script.

Why can't I 'place' a signature into a .pdf form created in LiveCycle Designer 9???

I have been pulling my hair out all afternoon!
I have created a dynamic form in LiveCycle Designer 9 - saved it as a Dynamic XML Form - opened it in Acrobat X - saved it as Reader Extended PDF and Enabled Additional Features. My colleagues will then need to open it in Reader X and select the option to draw and place thier signature in the text field I have provided them with. When I open the form in Reader X and click on the SIGN tab I get the following error message:
The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill and sign this document you need to print it out.
I have looked for help on this issue everywhere, yet to no avail.
I do not want to hear about using digital signatures or Echosign, We only want and need to have staff sign forms by drawing their signature.

I am not aware of Reader Enabled PDF from Acrobat X.
Have you tried enabling digital signature using Reader Extensions which comes with LiveCycle Server. viz http://I.P:Port/ReaderExtensions

How to add hyperlink to file path of pdf when creating email using the email submit button?

I have a form with an e-mail submit button that opens an outlook email with the .pdf file as an attachmnet, and addressed to the e-mail addresses i put in tthe address field.
What we are trying to abvoid is sending a bunch of attchement to numerous people, clogging up email space/server space.
What we would like is not to have the .pdf attched, but rather in the body of the email have a hyperlink to the path of the document. Can this be done, and if so can anyone give me some guidance.

Then you can use something like this:

The path that will be inserted is a so-called "device-independent path", though, so they may not be able to use it directly.
It's possible to convert it to a "normal" file path, but that is a more complex scripting task.

How to automate filling of a multiple lines pdf document created by Adobe LiveCycle

Hello to all.
I have a pdf document which was created by Adobe LiveCycle Designer 11.0. This document inittialy contains a single line but we can add as much lines as we need.
I have to fill this document lines with information from MS Excel 2007 worksheets (more than 3000 lines/Week). I have tried a lot of techniques and tools but was never able to automate the process.
Can someone please let me know if there is a way to automatically copy the data from Excel to the pdf document?

How to convert a protected document into a PDF?

Hello,
I need to develop a plugin that needs to convert a protected document in office format into a pdf. I looked into the sdk and found the method AVConversionConvertToPDFWithHandler (). But can this method also apply the digital rigths of the protected document to the newly created pdf?
Is there any other way to convert a protected document into a pdf and at the same time apply the rights to the pdf? I don't want to use Adobe LiveCycle for digital rights management.
What are the requirements to develop a DRM plugin for acrobat?

The AVConversion APIs will use Office itself to perform the conversion (well, the rendering part). I would ASSUME that when Office opens the document, it will ask for any necessary passwords or other information to determine if the user has the rights to view and/or process the content of the document. If they do, then the conversion will succeed otherwise it will fail. The PDF will not have any DRM applied to it, since we don't know anything about the Office DRM options.
If you wish to apply DRM to the PDF, you will need to do that yourself or using tools such as LiveCycle Rights Management.

There are two ways to use ExportPDF subscription. Using Web Browser (http://exportpdf.acrobat.com) and another one is using Adobe Reader.

A bit vague as to what you intend, but the simple answer is to select all the files you want to delete then either drag to the Trash or CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the selection and choose Move to Trash from the contextual menu.

After installing FF4 on 2 computers (both Win7Ultimate), one places tabs in the title bar, the other below it; how can I get both to place tabs in the title bar?

I have the same options selected on each computer, both have "Tabs on top" selected.
The one I am using now has a double-height title bar, with the Firefox botton on the top left, and tabs below it also on the left.
The right side of the title bar is blank (semitransparent) space.

Found the problem - on one computer, I run Firefox maximised, and Tabs go into the title bar.
On the other, Firefox runs in an unmaximised window, and tabs sit below the title bar.
This seems very silly.

The screenshots tell you everything.
The second one tells you how the image frame is automatically set up after a one-click place. It's the blue stroked rectangle with the eight control points at each corner and mid-way along the line. This image frame is generated at a proportionally correct height and width for the image it contains.
Now, if you look at the third screenshot (click on it to see it at a larger size), you will see I've used the direct selection tool (white arrow) to click on the image within the image frame. This CLEARLY shows the image (within the image frame) is substantially larger than the frame generated to contain it. This is indicated by the yellow stroked rectangle with the eight control points at each corner and mid-way along the line.
Notice that the blue and yellow rectangles are vastly different sizes.
In InDesign CS5.5, when i clicked to place the image, the image would fit perfectly within its image frame. the blue and yellow rectangles would match.
I had no need to go click on the proportional fill and centre buttons like i need to do now in CC.
I have a keyboard shortcut to place. I can't do File > Place for the amount of images i need to place.
So to reiterate: How do i place an image so that the image and image frame match?
