How do I plug a non-USB microphone into a Mac Pro?
Question from an audio newbie....I've got a 2009 Mac Pro desktop computer. I just bought a microphone headset. The headset has a two-pronged plug in, a green one for the headset (speakers) and a pink one for the microphone. My Mac Pro has two speaker ports - one in front and one in back - but I can't find anyhwere to attach the microphone plug.
I don't want a USB headset because my USB ports are already maxed out. How can I attach this non-USB microphone and get it to work?
Look at your back side. Look at the booklet too that it came with or from support page manual.
www.apple.com/support/macpro
there are digital out audio and microphone on the backside.

Ive plugged in my USB superdive into my mac pro and nothing happens?
Ive got a Mac pro and the disk drive doesn't work, so i bought a USB superdrive and when i plug it in, nothing happens. Its has if it isn't plugged in. I really only use my drive for sims 3. Please help, im desperate
It's Superdrive for MacBook Air, I think.
I'd the same problem about two months ago, because I was inattentive and I didn't read the titles right on the box. So, when I came home I was confused. MacBook Pro doesn't want to work with that Superdrive.
After long searching I found nice solution: http://www.tuaw.com/2012/04/02/use-the-macbook-air-superdrive-with-any-almost-ma c/
It really works.
Hope this help you too.
Good luck. -
When i plug in my atv 2 into my mac pro 10.9 by micro usb nothing happens. in all the videos i have watched the light should come on with out the power cord. Well mine docent and i have restored it.
David,
I am not sure why they are crashing the computer, but you definiately want to be careful with an external RAID 1. Here is what I would try first in your scenerio:
1. Reset the drives somehow. Obviously you can't do this on the iMac, maybe by formating them one at a time on a PC.
2. Plug these drives in through a USB hub (possibily even a powered hub) since you can't connect the drives through each other. Then before you connect the hub to the mac, you should have the drives fully spun up (in manual power mode, switch on the back) and the hub and on before connecting it to the Mac. This way, both drives have a higher chance of appearing simulteanously to the Mac reducing any need for rebuilding because of out-of-sync issues.
3. I'd then follow the steps in this article to reformat the drives for your iMac again:
http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/ss/raidmirror.htm
I've never attemepted a RAID 1 on external drives so you'd have to let me know how this goes.
If all else fails, you could jump in on an order the school makes with the following company and get an enclosure to tranfer your drives into. We have at least three of these enclosures at school, we are running one in RAID 1 and the other two in a RAID 0 configuration.

How can you get a non-usb microphone to work?
So i've run into a few discussions on this topic, but never seen an answer to it. I have a non-usb microphone (A HyperX Cloud headset) that I want to use with my MacBook Pro. How can I do this? I'm assuming there is an adapter I can get for the microphone to work, right?
You will need a mic interface, you can get a pretty decent one for around $100, check this one out! http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Solo-Compact-Interface/dp/B00MTXU2DG/re f=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426555875&sr=8-2&k… or an adapter from http://www.amazon.com/IK-Multimedia-instrument-microphone-interface/dp/B00C68MZX E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426555978&sr=8… Sorry there is no other way around it.

How to install an ATI Radeon HD 5700 into a Mac Pro dual 2.66?
My Nvidea card just died on my and I've gotten an ATI Radeo HD 5700 card to replace it but I can't find any information anywhere on the installation process. Slotting it in is easy but I'm unsure where to connect the 6-pin cable. I can see a pair of likely connectors on the board marked HDD_SNS but I'm not sure which, if either, is correct. Anybody out there with info? I've tried the AMD site and just googling with no useful results.
Thanks,

Yes Camer Roll is there but not Photo Library. Photo option is also not available when attempting Sync via USB.

A mid 2010 Mac Pro, trying to get 5.1 surround out of the onboard sound software using fiber optic out connected to a Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker sys. with fiber optic in and out, all I get is stereo and simulated 5.1 sound out of the speakers. In utilities, Audio Midi Setup I can't get the Mac to see the Logitech speakers for 5.1 speaker configuration. Without being made to feel like a dummy, does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Carl
Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

When I plug the battery cord in to my mac pro, it says it is charging, but no light comes on and the charge is still low. What's going on?
Good grief! I had not plugged the USB jack all the way into the headphone port on the iPod. Having taken that action, the iPod shuffle works great. My bad, as they say.

i have a long-existing iPhone 4s with one apple id and started a job where I received a macbook with another apple id. how do i get my phone to sync with the Mac Pro and secondly how do i get my music on there?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

Possible to execute custom SQL query?
