  • I lose changes in the details when i open my photos from camera raw 7.0 to photoshop cs5, why?

I lose changes that I made with the tools in the "Details" section, just right after I open my photos from camera raw 7.0 to photoshop cs5, why?   The changes that I made with the tools in the "Basic" section remain.

First, how and why are you using Camera Raw 7.0 with CS5?
ACR 7.x requires CS6 to run.
Even if that's a typo in your post and you are running CS6 instead of CS5, no one should be running ACR 7.0, but ACR 8.4 —or at the very least 7.4.
Once any given camera model is supported by a version of ACR, it will continue to be supported in all subsequent versions of ACR.  Each update to ACR has unannounced, unheralded bug fixes and improvements.  Running 7.0 at this point is sheer madness.
    Please clarify.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc., someone may be able to help you.

  • Downloaded camera Raw 8.7 and photoshop CS5 still won't run it

I'm going to cry if CS5 keeps stuffing me around...Can't update programs for any of the CS5 suite won't explain why, just bought a nikon D750 and had to download camera raw 8.7 and photoshop still won't recognise it, so far I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still fails to update.  Any solutions out there

Also I should add the updater does not work on CS5, so you must manually download and install them.

  • How do I update camera raw 6.3 on Photoshop CS5 Windows?

I tried the help menu and updates but its not working. I have Nikon D7000 and I took pictures in RAW and they are NEF files that will not open in photoshop, hence the reason i am trying to update my camera raw plugin but I cant figure it out and ive contacting adobe 3 times with no luck. Help!

You will need to do a manual update of the ACR 6.7 plug-in, which is the last version that will run with CS5.
You'll need to download it from here (Windows version):
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 Update
There are installation instructions on the download page, which you need to follow to the letter.
    Good luck1

  • Is codec 1.18 compatibile with Camera Raw 6.7 and Photoshop CS5.1?

I'm planning my purchase of a D7100, and would like to understand the software updates that would be required to process raw files in Photoshop. My current software is: Photoshop CS5.1, Camera Raw is 6.7, Codec 1.12, and Windows 7.  The Adobe website indicates that I need to upgrade the codec to 1.18. I'm OK with that. But, will that codec work with the versions of camera raw and Photoshop that I currently have?

I'm pretty sure that's not required for adobe camera raw to work and yes i agree with your post 5, as the nikon d7100 camera raw files require camera raw 7.4 and
since photoshop cs5 only is compatible to camera raw 6.7, photoshop cs5 won't open those d7100 files unless you use the 7.4 dng converter to convert your raw
    files to dng copies.
supported cameras and required versions of camera raw:

Or your could update to photoshop cs6 or try lightroom 4.

  • Camera Raw  8.2 for Photoshop CS5

I have CS and Elements 12.
The former has Camera Raw 6.7.0.339 and the latter 8.2.  I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ200 which requires a minimum of 7,2.  I want to open my RAW files in CS5 rather than Elements.  How fo I download and install Camera Raw 8.2 into  CS5?

Check this discussion, something like CR 8.2 needs PS CS6 to function:

  • Color differences between Camera RAW 6.2 and Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
    I have got two problems:
Everytime I open a raw file in Camera Raw, the picture is a bit darker than in Photoshop. The difference is very annoying...
    and, apart from that,
       2. The pictures in Adobe Bridge look much more saturated and darker than in Camera RAW or Photoshop. The result of my research was, that I have to go to "Edit -> Bridge Color Pre-Settings" and choose the right color-management. But when I klick on the button, it says that the function is something like deactivated. Someone said, I have to buy the entire Creative Suite to activate this function? Is that true?
The color profile I work with: sRGB
I already updated Bridge, Camera RAW and Photoshop. But the problem still exists...
Does anyone know the problems and may help me?
    Thanks a lot!
    -Aldo

    Thanks for your replies.
A few minutes ago I calibrated my display again. Now, the difference between ACR and Photoshop seems to be even greater.
When the calibration was finished, the software offered a before/after-button (Before and after calibration). The "Before-image" was much more dark than the "after-image". Just as dark as the photo is in ACR(!).
Maybe there's a connection. I think Photoshop uses the right profile (the profile generated by the Spyder2Express), but ACR uses some different wrong profile.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Chris Cox wrote:
Hmm, they should be the same.
How did you calibrate your display?  Where did the display profile come from?
The profile called "Spyder2express.icm" was saved in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color

  • Camera Raw 7.0 for Photoshop CS5 to be compatible with Lightroom 4?

When I try to open an image from LR4 in Photoshop CS5 I get a message asking me to download Camera Raw 7.0.  This is not on the Adobe web site.  When will it be available?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

Out of curiosity, what difference does it make if you edit ACR functions in ACR or LR? What can you do in ACR that you can't do in LR?
I sometimes think of LR as an alternate front-end to CS5. YMMV.
No, they're different tools with vastly different and complementary capabilities, unless you use them only for minor tweaks. Why would you want the same ACR capability in CS5 as you have in LR? Check into "Open as smart object" -- I do this sometimes to bring in a fully editable RAW into CS5 so I can continue to operate on it at the RAW level. You can duplicate the layer, apply ACR to the duplicate (which also modifies the first layer), rasterize the duplicate when you're done. Then you go back to the background/first layer, set it back or change it some more with ACR, rasterize it, and with layer masks you can select which parts of each edit you want to show through on the final composite image.
I typically do this a lot for exposures that have too much dynamic range: one layer with negative EC, another with positive EC + fill (if needed), then composite the two to get a more balanced exposure. With the Adjustment brush's updates in LR4, you can do most of this now there (Shadow recovery in the Adjustment Brush is huge!), but that is using circular areas, which aren't always practical. Think of an irregular, jagged edge area that is in shadows: that's a lot of little and big brush circles to get the job done in LR4, where a mask in CS5 is far more practical and powerful.

Try the easiest way first:  simply select the Updates menu item in Photoshop's Help menu.
You want to be on version 6.7 of Camera Raw.
If for some reason the auto updater fails, you can download the updated plug-in and install it yourself by following the instructions on the download page, here:

See for yourself which version of ACR is needed for that camera’s RAW files
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
then check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
Your version of Photoshop does not support that version of ACR.
You could use the free DNG Converter.

    Which Canon camera?
The Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plugin has no relevance to Lightroom, incidentally - doesn't matter how up to date ACR is, Lightroom doesn't use it.

  • I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. Plug-in camera raw is missing

I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. a plug-in camera raw  xx is missing. Advice to update does not work. There is no plug-in in the map photoshop plug-ins.

This is expected. CS4 will never be able to open files from a current version of LR and a modern camera.

  • Plug-in Camera Raw 5.3 - profile does not show

I'm probably missing something obvious to everyone but me on this one.
I have been running Elements 7 with Vista successfully.  Today, I downloaded the plug-in "Camera Raw 5.3" with the understanding that the profie for Canon XSi was part of the upgrade.
(This may be where I'm "missing the boat")....I can open a raw image. I assumed that when I click the "camera calibration" icon, the Canon XSi would appear under the Camera Profiles dropdown.  However, I only get ACR 4.4.
I confirmed under help - system info that Camera Raw 5.3 was loaded.
    Can anyone offer any guidance?
    Thanks...Tony

I assumed that when I click the "camera calibration" icon, the Canon XSi would appear under the Camera Profiles dropdown.  However, I only get ACR 4.4.
ACR automatically detects what camera the files are from. What you see in the drop down list is the list of available versions for that camera. If PSE opens the raw file, it's using the profile for your camera.
You can't create a custom profile in PSE if that's what you want to do. You'll need to download the standalone program from the adobelabs site and use that, then load the profile into PSE.
EDIT the 4.4 is another version of the ACR profile you can choose if you don't like the newer one that loads by default.
