How do I port my Verizon Prepaid number to a new Verizon contract?

Right now I have the $35 prepaid plan and I'd like to update to a Maxx HD, which is up on Amazon for $20 with a new contract. However, the Amazon page is telling me that my number is not transferable. I don't know what to do here, can someone help?

I am considering a new post pay account, that was exactly the point of my original post. As I said before, i went to amazon.com, selected a phone, selected a new verizon plan, and put in my current number for a port request (which is with verizon prepaid). Amazon's website informed me that my number cannot be ported, and I don't understand why. So, to recap:
What I have:
>a prepaid phone with verizon
>a number that I want to keep
What I want:
>a postpaid account with verizon
>a razr maxx hd
>my phone number
My question:
Why is amazon telling me that my number cannot be ported, when I am going from one plan to another on the same carrier?

  • About to buy ipad2, Verizon aircard is already built in to my notebook - can I share that Verizon data plan with my new Verizon iPad2?

I am about to buy an ipad2.  I already have a Verizon aircard built in to my SONY notebook - can I share that same existing Verizon data plan with my new Verizon iPad2?  I would rather not to have to buy a second data plan.
    Thanks for your input

    No.
If your notebook can be set up as an adhoc WiFi network or HotSpot you could use that instead of activating the plan on the iPad 2.

  • Verizon Prepaid Number Portability and Converting to Post Paid

    1. Are verizon prepaid numbers portable?  I don't plan on leaving verizon, but if I did, would I be able to keep the number?
    2. Can I convert my account to a post paid account at a later time?  Will I be able to keep the same number?
    3. If I move to a different area, will I be able to keep the same number, or will I be forced to get a new number with a different area code?
    4. I'm on the 99 cent plan for each day I use my phone.  If I buy the messaging bundle, and use messaging but do not make any calls on a day, am I still charged the 99 cents for the day?  Or is the 99 cents just for days I make calls?

Yes you can always take your number with you.
    2. Can I convert my account to a post paid account at a later time?  Will I be able to keep the same number?
Yes after having a prepaid account for 6 months you can convert it over to a contract account and keep your number.
    3. If I move to a different area, will I be able to keep the same number, or will I be forced to get a new number with a different area code?
As long as  your in the Verizon calling area you can keep your number

No you are not charged for texting you are only charged the  99 cents when you make a call or answer  a call. So if you text every day but do not make any calls you are not charged for the 99 cents.

  • How do I find out the phone number in a new house?

I have recently moved into a new student house and I am struggling to set up the Internet because I cannot retrieve the landline number from the previous tenants plus we don't have a phone at the house either. Is there a way I can find out the landline number online? Help!

    Then 17070 won`t work ether.
17070 is normally allowed on stopped lines, as it enables field engineers to do pair identification. Sometimes 1470 needs to be added as a prefix, if the number was withheld.
Where possible, old phone lines are left with "soft" dial-tone, as it saves extra work when a new line is provided, and encourages new customers.
Some service providers insert a recorded announcement if someone tries to dial out. "Welcome to XXXX service provider, please dial XXX to activate this line"  or something similar.

  • How can I see my own phone number on the new iphone 3G

I recently purchased an iphone 3G and cannot seem to get my own phone number to appear at the top of the contacts page (above the "A" contacts. The apple store people tell me that it should have shown up there but it hasn't. Can anyone help me? thanks,

Then that's a software or activation bug. Restoring the phone via iTunes might help.
In the days of the original iPhone launch, there were a few issues like this that could also be resolved by calling your phone service provider (AT&T in the US) and having them reset your account in their system -- followed by power cycling the iPhone.

  • How to keep your old number with a new iPhone

    I find this confusing.
I have an iPhone 4 with an AT&T contract.
I am eligible for an upgrade and have ordered an iPhone 5 from Apple.
What steps do I have to take to keep my old telephone number on the new iPhone 5?
I believe this answer from AT&T is nonsense:
Upon reviewing your account I have found the following information. In
order for you to utilize the iPhone 5 on your current phone number, you
must return the iPhone 4 you recently purchased. You will be charged the
restocking fee for the return. You must return it with the original
packaging to the location from which the device was purchased. I show
that you purchased the device at an Apple store.
They can also assist you with preordering an iPhone 5. Once they have
processed your return of the iPhone 4, it should allow them to pre-order
    your iPhone 5.
Can anyone _please_ tell me how I go about keeping my old number when the new iPhone arrives?
    Many thanks.

you should never have to return the product once you bought and are under contract.  At no point can they make you return it.
As far as the iPhone 5 is concerned, just like Brad said, activate it through itunes and if a problem arises just call att.

  • How do I port a number from a different service provider to Verizon?

I have a work cell phone and a personal phone. I want to port my work number to my personal Verizon iphone.  What do i need to do to do this?  And what information will I need to provide?

Knowing your options is important SR84. Is your work number a current Verizon Wireless mobile number? If not, the process you would take is called an LNP Port in Telephone Number Change. For additonal information click, http://vz.to/1jogjzV

  • How do I import an existing cell number to SAMSUNG GUSTO 3 - Verizon Prepaid?  What number do I call?  Do I activate first and then request the import via the new Verizon (not wanted cell number)?

The enclosed ACTIVATION & USE MANUAL is very limited.  It only tells you how to activate the phone after inputting a zip code.  On the web there are many contact numbers for customer service but ALL REQUIRE a Verizon cell number.

A friend I know had this issue and was told to activate the phone first and then call *611. You also can dial from any other phone this number 1 888 294 6804 and choose 1.  They both can handle the tranfer without any problem.

  • How to find out my verizon account number and pass code?

Recently I tried to port one Verizon prepaid cellphone number to another carrier. During the porting the carrier asked me to provide the Verizon account number and pass code. How can I get this info?
    Thanks.

Just as SuzyQ stated, Verizon Prepaid account numbers should be your mobile number, and as for the passcode, unless changed should be the last 4 digits of your mobile number. If you need more assistance give customer service a call.

  • I demand a refund for an unauthorized port on Verizon Prepaid

Two days ago, I was on Verizon Wireless Prepaid website checking out their plans and comparing them to my current Prepaid Service Provider. In order to see the plans I had to put in my cellular device ESN and the number I would have ported. The moment I hit the next button I was sent directly to the porting process and Verizon started porting my number over without even telling me that it would. I called into Verizon porting department and told the rep that I DID NOT want to port my number over. The rep did not help with the matter but said that the port already went through and that I had to add funds to my account. So here I am without a phone that I NEED because I have to travel and can not be without a device. So I added the funds and called back into Verizon to demand a refund and now for the last two days I am not getting anywhere but out of pocked by $45 with Verizon. I did port back to my other carrier and had to pay another $40 just for service. Why would I want to go to Verizon for $45 when with Page Plus I can get more for less? I demand a refund as I told that agent that I did not want to port over and to cancel it. Page Plus tried to cancel on their end but it was too late. I will never do business with Verizon again. I did try calling the porting department as well as the prepaid number for verizon and all the automated thing does is hang up on me. I can't get a live rep now.

It is doubtful you will get a refund from Verizon of your $45. Verizon does not require you to enter in your number to view their plans They are available HERE and I can see all of them without providing ANY information. It appears you started the port process without fully understanding what your were doing, or possibly a case of buyers remorse.
