How do I post an image?

I wanted to include an image in a post that I was composing.
According to the Help file there is supposed to be a Gallery where I can upload my images.
And then I believe I should be able to select the image I want and have it (or a link to it)
included in my post. I see the icon above for 'Insert/edit image'. But I could not find
the place where my Gallery was located. According to the Help it should be in my
User Profile and there should be a link to get me there.
Any ideas on where I should look to find the link to allow me to upload an image
to my Gallery?
Thanks!

welcome to the forum!
we don't allow new users the ability to upload to a gallery.   you can, however, upload to a free image hosting site such as tinypic.com or postimage.org and post your image that way.

• Re: How can I post an image?

Merging the hints, how does this look?
Showing an image in Apple Discussions requires two things.
1. The image has to exist and be accessible from a working server somewhere.
2. Then the image can be referenced in html and will appear in your post.
1. To achieve the first you need to register on one of the many free web photo hosting sites. An example of one would be Flicker. (If you have your own web site you can of course host your picture there.)
Having taken a snapshot of the thing in question (the image), perhaps by using the Grab application on your Mac, you upload the image to your photo hosting site.
You'll then need to get its URL from the site. It might be easy to see or you might have to read the site's FAQ for those details, as there are differences between sites.
Easier still, if you are using Safari or Firefox right clicking (or Control click with a one button mouse) on the uploaded image will copy the link for you.
It will have a form like this:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg
When you find it, open a new tab in your browser and paste it into it, to check that it displays and is therefore the correct URL for the image.
2. To add this image to your post here on Apple Discussions, place an exclamation point before and after the link, illustrated as,
!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg!
which produces the image in the post.
An alternate html format is;
<img src="http://source.address.of.image.jpg"/>

iBooks Author Mavens,
How can the Poster Frame (aka, Poster Image) for the Intro Media segment of an iba video be set?
Irrespective of anything I do with the Widget Inspector...such as attempting to move the Poster Frame to a frame at the desired ~7 second point (in a ~10 second clip)...iBA keeps resetting the Poster Frame to ~2.5 seconds (not wanted).

• How to post my images to Instagram?

I am new. How to I post my images from Photoshop Touch  to Instagram? How do I save my images to my personal device's photo gallery? And how do I email my photo to an email recipient?

In order:
If the Instagram app is installed, it should be a simple matter of exporting the PS Touch project to the appropriate format that Instagram supports (like JPEG). In Android, in PS Touch's project file UI, you tap the "export" icon (5th icon from the upper right) > Share and then choose Instagram the app to export to.
The second question's answer is similar, with the exception of "Save to Gallery" (on Android; forgot what it was on iOS) instead of "Share".
The third question's answer is also similar to the first, with the exception of sharing to your email app of your choice instead of an app like Instagram.

Hi
I would like to post multiple images in a single blog post. When ever I add a second or third image in the "entry" section of iweb, it does not show up in the blog post on the homepage of the blog. does anyone know if it is even possible to have multiple, separate images in one post, and if so, how.
Here is a link to my blog: http://www.hoopography.com. You can see how there is only one image. I I want to talk about multiple items, I need to create an image in Pages and put them all together. I would really like to break out of the one box (placeholder) mold. How do I embed an image in a post here?

Hi Roger!
Some additional tips.
To post an image in  Discussions, create a Screen Shot of the image you wish to post.
Upload the image to an online storage facility, like one of these linked to below.
Flickr
ImageShack
PhotoBucket
PICVAULT
Twango
tinypic
imageno
Then use HTML formatting, to insert the URL of the location.
Use this format <img src="Insert URL Here">
Post the resulting line of text.
You can alternately insert the URL of the image between ! (Exclamation Marks) to have it appear in a post.
Keep the images small, and unobtrusive, when possible.
If the image is large, you can use this format:
<a href="Insert URL Here"target="_blank"><img src="Insert Same URL Here" width="Insert Desired Size Here"></a>
Desired Size is a number, dependent on the size to be displayed in the post, such as 20, 50, 200, etc. You can experiment with that number.
Below that type "Click to View Full Size".
The image will appear in the post at the size you selected, but when clicked, will open full screen.
You can also just post a Link/URL, to the image location, using this format:
<a href="Insert URL Here">Type Title Here</a>
Or use Skitch.
Quoted from the Skitch website:
"Skitch.com is a webservice that works hand in hand with our application Skitch to give you 1-click uploading of images for fast and fun image sharing."

If the image is on another server then we prefer to have a link instead of the real image in case it is a large image and we've already seen it or do not want to wait for it to load (server may be slow).
I do not know what any of this means.
I have a single laptop connected to the internet.
So far I have worked out how to upload an image to a thread-reply by copying the uploaded file "path" and pasting it onto the reply
and then after the reply is posted there are two incidence of each image
1. the URL
2. the image at the bottom of the reply
I am a newbie so would appreciate any feedback

• How do I post images here?

Sometimes only an ilustration will do. Unfortunately, nothing I try works. I've tried copying and pasting using both Grab, the basic Apple tool, and Grabbit, another tool for copying, but I have been unable to post any images. When I click on REPLY, the text, but not the image gets posted. What's the answer?

Click the camera icon. Browse to the image you want.

• How do I use copyprofile, image manager and create a wim file to Sysprep a reference Windows 8 computer.

Im trying to deploy a reference machine (configured) to other machines (exact or close image) with different hardware.
I have successfully used sysprep in out of the box, generalise, shutdown mode although i havent tried to deploy this to another device.  Unfortunately it doesnt copy the profile to default.
I understand that I have to create an answer file using image manager based on that image, save it to a usb drive and attach this in the sysprep command line when sysprepping it.
My problem is I dont know how to easily capture an image of windows 8 into a wim file so that i can add this into image manager to create a answer file.  Im also not sure what I have to do in image manager, is it a simple matter of creating and saving
the answer file or do i have to configure it to copy the profile specifically (theres only one account anyhow).
I also want to know if i have to attach the drivers or are all the standard drivers put into the sysprep image as standard.  I would like the machine to be an exactly replica, same as doing a clone (but with the drivers for the new machine installed
so it will boot) same as doing a clone and then repair? If thats possible.
Any specific instructions on this would be helpful.  I have read the microsft links but they are somewhat confusing.

I know this is a very late response but I thought I'd post for others who search.
The easiest way to create the .wim file is via WinPE, this guy's two YouTube videos explain the entire process in detail -
Windows 8 ADK Part 1: Capture an OS image - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ8zKX_8E9w
Windows 8 ADK Part 2: Windows Image Deployment - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHIvoqSw_FI
Here's a quick rundown from my notes:
WINPE
Create WinPE via imaging tools command prompt
copype amd64 c:\winpe
makewinpemedia /iso "c:\winpe" "c:\winpe\winpe64.iso"
UNATTEND
Open Windows System Image Manager
Configure unattend.xml
Save unattend.xml to sysprep folder
Create script and save it to sysprep folder to launch sysprep with unattend
@echo off
cd C:\Windows\System32\sysprep
Sysprep /oob /generalize /unattend:C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml
SYSPREP
C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep
Run as administrator
OOBE/Generalize
Shutdown
CONFIGURATION of WINPE
Set IP - netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1
Set DNS - netsh int ip set dns name = "Local Area Connection" source = static addr = 192.168.1.4 validate = no
Map Network Name - net use z:
\\WindowsADK\reflex\images password /USER:domain.local\username
DISKPART
diskpart
list disk
select disk zero
list partition
select partition 2 (OS partition #)
Assign letter=S (assigns drive letter to partition)
Exit
DISM
dism /capture-image /imagefile:z:\image.wim /capturedir:s:\ /name:"Windows 8.1 Custom"
Verify image is saved in the image share (z:)

• How to make an icon image using Photoshop

I found out how to do this recently so I decided that I wanted to make a tut for those who don't know how to make an icon image. This icon image is for the libraries tab on your computer. Under the libararies tab there is Music, Pictures, Documents, and Photos
First you will need the ICO (Icon image format) Format extension for photoshop which can be downloaded here:
http://www.telegraphics.com.au/svn/icoformat/trunk/dist/README.html
The download link and tutorial on how to install it is all in the link above.
Once you have that all set you can now launch photoshop to create your icon image. Once you have launched it, create a new document with the size as in the image below.

Create the image you want. I used a simple one by using the custom shape tool by pressing "U" on your keyboard and with the
basic blending options.

The reason why the image is pixelated is because it is an icon image. Since the image is only 256x256 pixels when you zoom in on it that will get you the pixely result. The reason why I zoomed  in is so you can see it. But don't worry this is no the end result. Just continue reading and you will see.
So once you have created the icon go ahead and press
file>save as>(under format choose the ICO)>and choose the name that you want to name it. And save it in your C: drive. You will see why to save it in your C: drive in a sec.

So now that you have created the icon and saved it now you can create the new library.

Name the library whatever you want I named it "Sample" for tutorial purposes. Notice how it gives you a default boring icon image for your library.

So now once you have created and named your library now it is time to get the icon image into place.
Go to computer/c: Drive/users/YOU/ And now once you have reached this area you will need to access a hidden folder named "appdata" to do so press "Alt" then a menu bar will show. Click
tools>folder options>and view. Find the option to view hidden folders then press apply then ok. Now we shall continue so AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Libraries
Now you should see all the libraries including the one you just created.

Once you have reached your destination then open a new text document with notepad and drag the library you just created in notepad. The result should look like this:

once you have reached this point click at the end of the second to last line down then press enter and enter in this information
<iconReference>c:\"NAME OF ICO FILE YOU CREATED IN PS".ico</iconReference>
Example:

Once you have entered that information go to file>save and the icon image should appear on the library you created.

Now you are officially finished. Go and spread the news and joy. Bye for now
-Dusty951512

It is Windows only because all those screen shots are exclusively Windows, the file structure and paths do not resemble those of the Mac in the least.  As a Mac user, there's nothing I could take from your tutorial.  Sorry,
No drives named with letters like C: on the Mac, for instance.  No backward slashes either, ever.  No such paths either.  No "Notepad" on the Mac, we use TextEdit; but such a text editor is not remotely needed on the Mac to make and/or edit icons.  Etc.
Those folders are not even called "Libraries" on the Mac…  Nothing resembling your tutorial at all.
The icons in the Finder's Sidebar are not customizable at all in recent version of OS X.

You can edit any post of yours only until someone replies to it.  At this time your post is not editable by you any longer.

• Printing Questions - "Poster" - One image on multiple sheet of paper (to create an enlargement)

Hello,
Tried to find this in the archives - apologies if this has already been answered. Kindly reply with that link and I won't ask you to chew your cabbage twice...
On my older PC, I used to be able to print an image in "poster" mode, which essentially let me print and enlarge an image by printing it across multiple pages (e.g. 4, 6, 9 pages.) Since I'm a painter, this was an easy way for me to print out an image - and enlarge it - from which I could tape the pages together to create the enlargement. I then could use that rough poster-enlargement-on-multiple-sheets-of-paper to trace on to my canvas. (And my photographer friends have already pointed out the ease of which to actually print poster size images, but I don't need that expense or hassle for my purposes. I basically want an enlargement to trace onto a larger size canvas to paint on.)
Since I just got a new Mac, I've downloaded PSE9 Mac trial, but can't for the life of me figure out how to replicate what I used to do on my PC, granted with an older version of PSE.
Hoping this makes sense - and hoping against hope that someone can nudge me in the right direction...
Thanks!
Greg
BTW - IF this does make sense, AND I can do on the Mac or the newer version of PSE - anybody got an idea for a workaround? (Short of buying PS CS5...?)

Juergen,
Thanks so much! Of course you're right - and this does the job perfectly! Thank you so much for the prompt replay, explained clearly, and very helpful! You've really helped me move onto items which I've really wanted to do!
Very gratefully,
Greg

• How to create a background image for each item in a List object

Hello.
I am trying to create a background image that displays whenever a user posts something to a list.  For example when a user posts text it would appear in a list.  The new item in the list would contain a specific background image with the users text appearing on top of the background image.  I do not want a background image for the entire list, rather each item within the list.
I am not sure how clear this is so I added an image below.  When a user enters text in and clicks the "post-it" button their text would appear below with the sticky note background.
I am not sure which list type would be best for this problem or how to create insert the image, so I am open to suggestions.
Thank you for your help.  Any advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Hi
the easiest way would be with itemRenderer.
You have to do two things:
1. In your list declaration use a item renderer: <mx:List itemRenderer="myRenderer"/>
2. create a flex component myRenderer that will be the single item. This can be a canvas with a background image and a text field on it.
When you add a new item to the list, a new myRenderer item will be created and the data property will be passed to it. So you have to put "data" in your textField.
If you need more help try looking at Tour de Flex samples, they're pretty easy.

• FAQ: How do I post photos to Facebook from Revel?

Q: How do I post photos to Facebook from Revel?
A:
Sharing your images to Facebook
If you have an iPad or iPhone Click, then first login to facebook on your device. Then, launch Revel, navigate to an album and click on the icon. Select the images you wish to share and select "Send".  Select the Facebook option. You will see a dialog box asking permission to access your account to upload pictures to your Facebook account. (if you were not already signed in to facebook you will need to sign into your account.
The images are uploaded to an album titled "Adobe Revel Photos"
If you are on a Mac, then you must select an individual photo and then click on the arrow to share the individual photo to facebook.
If you are not using the app on a Mac, iPad or iPhone, then you will need to upload the photos to facebook from your computer. If you do not have them stored on your computer, then you an download them from Revel and upload them to facebook.
See this link for more sharing details
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5092831#5092831
When you sign in to Revel, it is possible to sign in using your Adobe id, or you can click on the Facebook or Google option and login there. (See image below). When you log in with Google or Facebook, even though it looks like Revel is asking for your password, it is actually a Google/Facebook webpage asking you. By design, for your security, Revel and Adobe never touch or store your Facebook/Google password.
It is possible to login to Revel using your Adobe Id, and then post to Facebook from your phone or ipad to a Facebook account that uses a different email account to login. You must already be logged in to Facebook on your device when you use Revel. Revel will ask permission to use your photos and post to your friends. The photo will be posted from the Revel account your are loogged into into the Facebook account you are logged into on the Facebook app on your iOS device.
IF YOU USE THE SAME EMAILS and want to match up the passwords:
If your emails are all the same, then you can reset all 3 accounts to have the same password if you desire.
If you logged into Revel for the first time with Google or Facebook but would rather login to Revel using your adobe id, and you use the same email for your Adobe ID, you can log out of Revel, log back in using your adobe id (which will fail since you have never used it) and then select reset password. You can change your Adobe ID password to match either your facebook or google one if you want (or make all 3 the same if you choose).
IF YOU USE DIFFERENT EMAILS and want to make them the same:
If you use different email accounts to login to Facebook, Google, and your Adobe ID and you want to post from Revel to Facebook or Google, one option is to make all of the login email addresses the same. You can either change your Facebook/Google email in their website to match your Adobe ID, or you can change your email associated with your Adobe ID in Adobe.com to match the email you use for Google/Facebook.
You can go to this link to reset your Adobe ID password: https://www.adobe.com/account/sign-in.adobedotcom.html
