How do I prevent my contacts, emails and files from syncing to my daughters iphone but continue to have the apps sync?

I recen't bought my daughter an iphone 4 and I have a 5. I want to prevent my contacts/email ect from syncing to her phone (and hers to mine) but still have all the apps and other things sync. Is there a way to do this? We have the same itunes and icloud account. I'm not sure if they are the same thing or completely seperate entities. I'm pretty apple illiterate and really need instructions in layman's terms. LOL

A couple of options:
Create a new AppleID for her and set up iCloud on it. Login to that account on her device (Settings app > iCloud) but leave the iTunes&App Store account as is. (I have this set up on my wife's iPhone).
OR
If either of you do not need to synch items, turn them off in icloud (Settings App > iCloud). Emails should not synch unless you have the same email accounts set up (Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendars)

As Retired Engineer indicated, you will need to install Snow Leopard first. After you install Snow Leopard, you need to go into Software Update and perform the updates. 10.6.6 will install the App Store. You should continue to update to 10.6.8 before purchasing and installing Lion from the App Store.
Be sure your machine meets the minimum requirements. Basically, any Mac with a Core 2 Duo processor or later and at least 2GB of RAM (but 4 is highly recommended). If you have a first generation MacBook Pro with a Core Duo, you will not be able to upgrade to Lion.

With your device connected and iTunes open, navigate to the 'info' tab and scroll down. You'll see the option to sync contacts and such from outlook.

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

I have thunderbird on the laptop but don't use alot. Because I will be using it primarily for the next few months, I want to move some of the existing messages and archived files on the desktop thunderbird to take with me on the laptop. I gather the best way is to copy the profile. I checked both Thunderbird and they were updated to be the same. I was able to copy and paste a backup copy of the profile to a flash drive. Now when I go to the laptop I am faced with the question about getting it loaded and where to put it. Also I should note that the laptop has 2 users myself and my wife. If I get this on the laptop will that stay on my user or will it wipe out my wife's email? Much to learn!!

Have you tried looking for it with Spotlight? You can also download it from Apple's support site, just keep a copy of you bookmarks and then import them once Safari is installed.

How do I restore my contacts, messages and folders from a back-up drive?

I had to replace my main C: drive. My old Thunderbird install is on another internal drive. I have installed Thunderbird on the new drive. I can access all the files on the back-up drive. But how do I do a restore of my mail, mail folders and contact list? How do I locate the necessary files?
I desperatly need my old folders for some software infoamtion.
Any help would be greatkly appreciated.

How can I move all my emails and mailboxes from my Powerbook 10.4 to a new MacBook Pro running Lion?

I have an older PowerBook (OS X 10.4.x) and I need to move all my Mail (including mail I archived to folders) to a new Macbook Pro running Lion.
Can I just move the Mail directory (/Home/Library/Mail) and com.apple.mail.plist from the Powerbook to the MBP?
I noticed that the Mail directory structure on the MBP is different in Lion than the Mail directory structure on my PB OS X 10.4.
I didn't want to overwrite the Mail directory on the MBP and find out I corrupted Mail on the new MBP.
Any advise would be appreciated.

The safe "step 1," of course, is to keep an unaltered copy of the 10.4 Mail folder and plist so that if something bad happens on the new machine, you just throw out that folder and plist and try again.
The safe "step 2" is that instead of dragging the folder into the same place on the new Mac, you can copy it to a separate location, like a temporary folder in Documents, then in Apple Mail in your new Lion MBP, use File/Import Mailboxes. It will ask you where the mailboxes are, and after you point it to that folder, I'm assuming it will import and convert them to the new format and place them in the correct sub-folders. If it goes well, you can then delete the temporary copy that you made for import purposes.
The 10.4 plist might be too old since it's 3 major versions later; you can try putting it in the Preferences folder, but it seems safer to note all the settings in 10.4 and re-enter them from scratch.
