How do I stop Photoshop elements 13 from crashing?

I just installed elements 13 and it upgraded my catalog just fine. Once I was in I started tagging pictures and then I paused. It crashed.
Now whenever I pause for about 30 seconds it crashes.
I have looked at many articles and have not found anything that worked. Can someone help me?

To answer your question directly [ How do I stop Photoshop elements 13 from crashing? ] , the only way I can think of is to reset your preferences file. The method in PSE13 must be the same as in 10 and 11 and it is as shown in this thread:

You need to installed it in the same way as you did on old machine.
If you like to save one instance of the license then please do de-activate while uninstalling.
Or if you have already used your "Two" instances of installation then you must need to de-activate one of the machine while

That's not Elements which writes the Camera model in the exif, that's your camera. It's a common complaint with Olympus.

Use the 'Find' menu to select the files starting with the offending caption (Olympus, for instance). Highlight all selected files and right click; select the option to add a caption; leave the caption blank and click enter; you'll be prompted if you want to delete the captions : you do.

Since you have Windows XP, I'd just change .jpg file associations back to the Windows default viewer.."Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". It's already on XP so no need to download something unless you want to view .PSD files.
To change file associations, right click on any .jpg file and select "Opens With" from the menu. Select "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" from the list. Since you want the setting to be sticky, insure the box at the bottom of the dialog box that says something like "always open this type of file with this program" is checked. You can always go back and change the association if you change your mind.

I recently got a new computer to replace my old one which stopped working. I had Photoshop Elements 9 installed on the old computer and used it often, so I installed it on my new computer. However, it told me that the serial number had been used for 2 computers already (my old computer and my dad's computer) and that I needed to deactivate the old one before I can activate this one. This is impossible because the old computer can't be used anymore.
Is there some way the serial number on my old computer could be deactivated online?

Hello, I have a problem with Activation. My computer was broken and I had my Photoshop Elements 9 installed in it. Now I want to activate my PSP ELements 9 on new computer. It says "Activation limit reached for Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. " And it wants me to deactivate my PSP ELements on the broken computer or a new serial number. On Windows NT 4.0, how can I prevent CreateProcess()
from creating a cmd.exe window when using javaw and
Runtime.exec()? No such cmd.exe window is created if
instead I run "java" from the command line.
I have a C++ server named "foo", and have created
a Java applcation with Swing GUI named "foo.java".
This GUI captures configuration information and
then uses Runtime.exec() to start the C++ app, with
a socket established between the Java app and C++
app for later communication.
This is all working fine, and the Java application
and GUI working as expected. When I run "java foo"
from either the NT command shell (cmd.exe) or MKS
Korn shell (sh.exe) the Java application/GUI starts,
and when it calls Runtime.exec() my C++ process is
started as what appears to be a child process of the
"java" process, that is, no cmd.exe window is created
during the Runtime.exec("foo.exe") call.
However, when running the same Java application from
a shortcut on the desktop via "javaw", when I invoke
Runtime.exec() a cmd.exe window is created before my
C++ server is started. While things are running
ok and my Java app can still communicate with my
C++ server, is there anyway I can prevent this
cmd.exe window from being created, and instead, have
my C++ server run as a child process of javaw (or
an independent process without a cmd.exe)?

cmd always opens a dos window - use another console interpreter instead or just call the programm directly.

Moving Adobe applications between machines seldom has positive results. You need to install using installation files - you can download them from Adobe. You should check your Adobe account online to see if you ever registered the software. If you did then your serial number might be available there. If you find it then you can use it to activate a downloaded installation.
