How do I prevent prompt to log into the cloud?

Everytime I start iTunes (and my iPOD) I get prompted to enter my password to log into the cloud. I don't want to be asked. I don't use the cloud and don't intend to. How do I stop this prompt from showing up? It is a big annoyance.

This can happen when the original question is obscured by others before someone who thinks they have an answer notices it. At a guess a year ago the forums were quite busy with a different topic.

Use Ctrl+B if needed to enable the menu bar.

I have Lightroom 6 (not CC) on a Windows machine.  I'm prompted to log into Creative Cloud when I restart my computer (I don't have, use, or pay for Creative Cloud), and then when I launch Lightroom, it tells me to use the application I have to log into my Adobe account...AGAIN!  And then to further add insult to injury, I'm prompted to enter in the license number of my product.  I've gone through this process a dozen times now...SCREAM!!!

Paulou12 what type of a Creative Cloud Membership do you have?  You can find details on how to update Lightroom using the Creative Cloud Desktop application at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
Finally if you are in a managed environment then please work with your I.T. department to apply the update.

I assume you have iTunes Match turned on in iTunes?
You can create a smart playlist in iTunes that has "iCloud Status" is "Matched" or "Upload" - that will tell you what's in the cloud.

  • Can't log into The Cloud Wifi with Retina Macbook Pro

    Hi there,
I've researched this extensively online but haven't found a solution so far.
Usually, when logging into The Cloud on my iPad Air or iPhone 4S at locations like Caffe Nero, I have no problem connecting: I connect in the device's settings, and then when opening the browser, reach the The Cloud landing page which lets me log on and properly use the Wifi.
The other day I tried doing this with my brand-spanking-new Macbook Pro with Retina (mid-2014), and the landing page just wouldn't show up. So I couldn't log on; internet-enabled apps weren't working and I only had very limited access to Google. I tried both Safari and Chrome and refreshed multiple times.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd hugely appreciate it! Thanks!

    Hi there.
I can't help you unfortunately, but I have exactly the same problem. My macbook air mid 2012 used to connect to the Cloud wifi, like my iPhone 5 and iPad 2 still do no problem via the login landing page, but now though the bar at the top of my screen shows me connected, I don't get taken to the landing page (and I can't get there by manually feeding its address in either) and hence can't connect to the internet.
If you do get a resolution I'd obviously be very interested.
Sorry I can't help, but you're not alone with this problem.

  • HT4623 I updated my iPhone to the new iOs 7 and I cannot log into the cloud????

I updated my iPhone 5 to the new iOS7 and the phone keeps asking me to log into my iCloud account. but when I do, a pop up window asks to Review Terms and I select View Tems vs. the Not Now button and nothing happens. I have turned the phone off and back on and the same thing happens. It asks me to go to Settings and when I do, the iCloud icon is grayed out. I cannot seem to log into the cloud. HELP???

I don't recall where, but if you hunt, you will be able to find an "accept" button.  I think you also need to check a box that says something like "I have read and agree ..."
Yes, it requires a careful search.

  • How do I prevent users from logging into my machine in single user mode?

I established an standard accounts for my family.  My son figured out that if he logs into the machine in Single User mode that he logs in as the root user.  He then proceeded to create another user with administrative privileges and change his account to administrator then delete the other account.  Funny thing about this is that as much as OS X is secure from outside threats a simple command-s gets you right into the very heart of the machine......

You can set a firmware password. The firmware password only allows you to start up in normal mode, so if you try to start in single-mode user or safe mode, your Mac will ask you for a password.
The process to turn it on depends on the OS X version you have. Open  > About this Mac, check the Mac OS X version and follow the steps depending on your OS X version.
If you have 10.7 or 10.8:
    1. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up.
    2. After starting up into OS X Utilities, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Firmware Password Utility, and enable the firmware password.
    3. Restart the Mac.
If you have 10.6 or older:
    1. Insert the Mac OS X disc and hold the C key while your Mac is starting up.
    2. Choose your language, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Firmware Password Utility, and enable the firmware password.
    3. Restart the Mac.
Also, this will protect your Mac against thieves because they won't be able to erase the hard drive without knowing the firmware password. Don't forget the password, because only Apple can reset it if you don't know this password

  • Having problem with svchost.exe/ntdll.dll errors causing GPSVC (Group Policy Client) to crash preventing users from logging into the server.

Recently (within the past 2 weeks) I have noticed a few of our servers will have problems with the svchost.exe application causing the GPSVC (Group Policy Client) to crash. The only fix at that point is to reboot the server since the GPSVC service is tied
to svchost.exe and therefore is protected from being manually restarted.
I noticed the following errors when this occurs:

All of our servers are running Server 2008 R2 Enterprise where we use Citrix to deliver desktop sessions to our users, but some are virtual and some are physical. This seemingly impacts our virtual machines more, and our VMs are hosted through VMWare, however,

I've searched and cannot seem to find any information as to what may be causing this, or even really where to start. Would someone be able to help me identify what might be causing this event, specific with the Exception code: 0xc0000024, which causes
the Group Policy Client service to stop?

You still out there looking at things? If so I have an update. The issue hasn't stopped, even though it did seemingly die down for awhile, however, it is now back with a vengeance.
I am able to force it to happen by killing the svchost process that is hosting GPSVC. If I run gpupdate /force, then logout/login it does get GPSVC running again. Furthermore, if I simply start svchost again via the Task Manager GPSVC starts running again.
When I access the server remotely with KVM it acts just like it does as if I'm logging into it via Citrix/RDP which for Admin IDs gives an error saying "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service...",
however, normal user accounts just get a message when logging into the server "The Group Policy Client Service Failed the Logon. Access is denied."
I haven't opened a case with Microsoft yet, but we about ready to because of the increase in these errors.
If you have any further suggestions that would be great, otherwise I'll provide an update once I get word back from Microsoft.
**EDIT -- apparently I mistook the the server's SCM's actions as my own. I was able to successfully crash the GPSVC service by killing the hosting svchost process, however, after I crashed it and let it sit crashed for awhile when I attempted
to restart either by starting a svchost task, or running gpupdate /force it failed. Either that, or there is a timing issue where if we don't restart the svchost process, or run gpupdate /force quickly enough it won't be able to recover without a reboot.

  • Can someone tell me how to put some tunes and videos into the cloud to free up download space?

Can someone help me figure out how to store songs and videos temporarily in the cloud so I can free up more download space? Thanks.

You don't actually store anything in iCloud with regard to media files. iCloud backs up your purchases. You can delete the songs and videos from your iPad and then download them again via the purchased tab in iTunes.
This only applies if you purchased the content from iTunes and if you use the same Apple ID to download them again that you used to buy them with originally. Not all movies are available for free downloads either. Not all iTunes purchase are available for downloading again in all countries.

  • OBIEE Data Level Security - Prompt While logging into the OBI Portal

    All,
Below is what we are trying to see if it’s possible
We have a BM say 'Sales and Profits' . This is a simple model built around 1 fact and 5 dimensions. The underlying tables contain data from 5 different geographic segments US-NE, US-SW,US-NW,US-Midwest, US-All Segments.
The dimension table 'Segments' has all the above said values which are used to build reports related to each segment and all segments etc..
We have Groups/Users assigned in the repository (Using OBI Rpd security) based on the above segments.
If we want a user from 'US-NE' group to see only data related to his segment , we can add a filter condition to the group privilege tab ( Using SQL expression segment = 'US-NE') . This is straight forward.
Now the problem part , if we have a user who should be able to access data from two segments ,how do we handle it ? . We don't want to go and create multiple groups and assign users to them from the RPD groups.
    Other ideas we considered were
Duplicate the BM and add a filter through the LTS ( based on segment value) . Assign group permissions to the corresponding presentation models. This idea though has a lot of disadvantages. Firstly , it would mean creating several duplicate BM and every time we update the master BM we will have to update all duplicate models
Another idea was to specify the filter based on presentation model, while assigning the group privileges ( Using the expression from Group permissions). This approach is at least cleaner in the sense we will have to deal with only 1 BM and 1 Presentation model., but we will run into the same problem of having to create multiple groups or assign users to multiple groups ( Users who will have access to multiple segments)
    An ideal solution -
When a user tries to log in or immediately after he logs , Is there a way we can throw a pop-up that will force the user to select segment(s)? This should enforce the data restriction. I did not find a way to do this especially while using RPD based security model. Any ideas how we can do this ?
Since the 'Segment' dimension table is applicable to all BM in our systems (All fact tables in our warehouse have a link to the Segment table). We would ideally want this implemented across all dashboards and reports within in the OBI portal
    SK

Now the problem part , if we have a user who should be able to access data from two segments ,how do we handle it ?
You handle it on the same way as 'US-NE'. You will create another group called say US-SW then add the filter to it and make sure the user belongs to both groups. OBIEE will translate this into IN('US-NE', 'US-SW').We don't want to go and create multiple groups and assign users to them from the RPD groups.
You will need to create the groups but you can avoid having to asign them to the group in the RPD by using an init block to populate the GROUPS variable when the user logins. The other options are hacks...

  • From my library, how do I upload previous purchased songs into the cloud?

I have a slew of songs in my library, but I can't figure out how to upload those songs into the iCloud, and yes, they were purchased from the iTunes store. Help!

Check the ID you are signed in with in Settings>iTunes & App Store.  Any music you purchased with that ID should be available to download from iCloud by opening the iTunes Store app, then tap More>Purchased>Music>Not on This iPhone (iPod, iPad), then tap the iCloud download symbols to download them.  You can also go to Settings>Music, turn on Show All Music, then open the Music app, go to your song list and tap the iCloud download symbols next to purchased songs that are not already on your device.
You can only do this with a single ID.  If you have music purchased with a different ID, they will not appear in your purchased list.  Also, after download previous purchases for one ID you cannot download previous purchases from a different ID for 90 days (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627).
