How do I prevent syncing newly added books and pdf's to my device?

I have set my iPhone to sync only selected books, but when I add new books to my iTunes library, it seems they are automatically "selected" for me! Not what I'm looking for at all, as I don't want to have to go through and uncheck countless epubs/PDFs each time I sync after adding files to the Library, but I don't know how to stop this automatic add...
Since I have multiple devices, I anticipate having to go through this process repeatedly.
With apps, there's that simple "Automatically install new apps" checkbox--make sure this box is unchecked, and I'm golden. What is the equivalent for books? (It does vaguely seem like I had this problem resolved briefly in the past, using some simple setting on either the Summary or Books tab for my device, but with so many iTunes and iOS updates, it's hard to remember. I definitely couldn't find such a setting this morning, to my frustration.)
For the record, my iPhone also is not set to automatically download new purchases.

On Macbook, iBook used to be part of iTune. Now it is an independent component. Here is my problem. I found no way to sync the books and PDFs in iBook library on MacBook to my iPad. How can I sync?

You should be able to sync them in a similar way to how you used to sync them, it's just that now you use the iBooks app on your Mac to manage your ibooks/PDFs/epubs library on your Mac instead of within iTunes.
If you connect your iPad to your Mac's iTunes and select the iPad, one of the tabs across the top of the screen should be Books which you can use to select which of your Mac's iBooks library to sync to it e.g. with the left-hand sidebar in iTunes disabled (option-command-S) I see :

How do I do this in the future so this doesnt happen? Its a lot of work to now manually erase them from each device and it sent my phone over capacity.

I dont see the difference in the posts. I dont think theres anything inaccurate or misleading about what I wrote. The items were immediately added to my ipad and my iphone, even though I have them both set to sync only select items. As soon as I added new titles to my itunes library, they were immediately added to the devices. Not on the next sync. Immediately. Both devices were plugged into the computer at the time. Sorry if I failed to mention they were plugged in but I dont see the signifigance youre making out of it. The problem persists anyway.
Now that I did a test without the devices plugged in, the new items were still added as soon as I plugged my devices into the computer ( I do not have them set to sync over wifi).
Since I have both devices set to manually select items to sync, of course I want to manually select new items to sync. For instance, I am not going to read any of these magazines or books on my phone, ever, and I dont want to waste valuable space with them.
So I'm trying your advice:
I just tried deselecting sync books. It erased all content from ibooks on my device. I then dragged
one title onto the device, and it just goes back to syncing select books, with the one title selected.
It appears that wont work to solve my issue. The next time I add something to itunes it will be put on my phone. Is this really something most people want? To select to manualy control what content is synced, but then have things automatically added. It seems inconsistent to me.

3G IPod nano won't sync with Address Book and iCal

I connected my new 3G iPod nano (4GB) to USB2.0 port of aluminum keyboard on new 20" aluminum iMac. MP3 song files (total 623) transferred without problem, but whenever I tried to enable syncing of Address Book and iCal under Contacts tab in iTunes 7.4.1 window, error message popped up stated that there are no contacts in Address Book when there are actually 57 contacts already in Address Book. Creating new contacts in Address Book and recreating address book and iTunes library files in user's library folder did not help at all. The syncing of Address Book only work under new user account in Mac OS 10.4.10 (with all Apple updates applied). May I know what have gone wrong with my account ?
I have wasted one hour with call routed to hopeless Apple support center in India. They only want you to keep reseting everything until it work so that they can put the blame on you.

I have had same problem since I got my nano 2 months ago. At least with latest firmware update, when you DO see Contacts they contain their complete Notes! I have tried using iTunes sync to sync my full AddressBook with 900 entries, but this routinely failed to load any more than 600 entries with message saying so. Calendar has been even more problematic until I created a sub-view of my full calendar with just the prior 1 month and future 2 months event entries; then at least I could see the Calendar - but NEVER after immediately a sync, only after i reset the Nano. And finally I have used iPDA (ZappTek) to transfer News, RSS feeds, Weather updates for cities, & selected Documents and these too transfer completely (as inspection of the iPod as Disk shows), but needs a full reset to get them to show. Even then when you first highlight the "Notes" menu option you see it display "No Notes" but then when you click/select it, it starts "Loading them with a counter: sometimes the count is complete, sometimes it "aborts" and then you can only see some of the notes you loaded. I view this as a bug. I believe that the Nano is indexing these entries and either completes it or aborts, for an unknown "bug" reason. The ZappTek developer suggested there is a definite RAM (not storage) limitation in the Nano which prevents the Nano from handling very large sets of entries, but I should think a software update might be able to fix this by not trying to load everything at once.

you can re-download all purchases from the iBooks store at any time. PDF's you will need to have kept the PDF on your hard drive or on a service such as Dropbox, then you can re-import them into iTunes.

Sync selected books and pdfs iTunes desktop

Hi all,
I have been trying to archive my pdfs and ePubs to my computer via iTunes. It used to be I could back everything up to my iTunes library on my desktop and then I could select which songs to sync on my iPad, but the option to select sync is greyed out. I am planning on deleting all unnecessary pdfs and books off of my iPad as they are taking up a lot of space. I can't update to iOS 7 as the books and pdfs are taking up a lot of space. Most of my books were made by my school, so I can't redownload things as purchases.
Im running:
iTunes 11
iOS 6
Latest version of iBooks

Are the PDFs and ibooks on your computer's iTunes ? If so then you should be able to re-sync them, if not then you can re-download ibooks for free as long as they are still available in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 . The backup doesn't contain the contents of the ibooks app, so for them to be restored to the device they needed to be in your iTunes library.

I am new to the Plam family and I have a question. I use my Palm for bussiness as I'm sure most of us do, however can I sync my microsoft word and PDF files into my palm?
I use contract all the time and I need to view a contract from time to time, I'm not sure how to sync these files on my palm... is the palm windows mobile?
If I could get as much info as I can about this all the how to's that would be awesome!

Your Verizon Pre Plus runs a mobile operating system called HP/Palm webOS. The current release is 1.4.5. The phone can connect to a corporate Microsoft Exchange server. When it does, it uses a sync technology called "Exchange Active Sync," but your phone does not run the Windows Mobile or Windows Phone operating system.
Syncing Microsoft Office and PDF documents has been sort of an adventure since the Pre debuted over 18 months ago.
DataViz, the makers of the Doc View application, was partially acquired by RIM, the makes of the BlackBerry, and have decided to not release a full version of Documents To Go for webOS devices. Palm is working with the makers of QuickOffice to bring full Office document support to webOS in the future.
For now, if you put Office documents and PDF files in the USB storage area of your Pre, Doc View or PDF will find them and allow you to view them on your Pre. I put all of my documents in a folder simply called "Documents".
If you connect the charging/sync cable to your Pre and then attach it to your Mac or Windows PC, you will be given a choice to turn on USB Drive mode. When you do, you will be able to work with your Pre like you would a standard USB flash drive. Eject the Pre from your PCs desktop when you are done and you should be all set.
