How do I prevent VZ Navigator from automatically starting?

Every time I plug my phone into the car mount, VZ Navigator starts up automatically. I do not want to use VZ Navigator every time I get in my car. I prefer to select what app to run from the default car screen and I prefer to use the Android Navigator. How do I stop VZ Navigator from starting automatically? It's bad enough that I cannot remove it from my phone.

Try this: from the Home screen, do Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications. Tap All, wait for the list to populate, then scroll down to VZ Navigator and tap it. Check the Launch by default section and see if there are any default actions set. If there are, tap Clear defaults.
This is the sequence on my Stratosphere; yours may look a little different. I don't know that this will do the trick, but it might be worth a shot.

Uncheck the option to automatically sync new apps to the device.
Other than that, syncing is by device.
Connect one device, tell iTunes what to sync, then sync.
    Connect second device, repeat.
    Connect third device, repeat.

  • How can I prevent shared computers from automatically connecting?

When I click on a shared computer in the finder using bonjour, the computer is automatically connected. It should require a password, but I can't seem to prevent this. Please help me prevent this computer from automatically connecting. Thanks

You need to modify the preferences on the MacBook. The System Preferences>sharing pane should show you the options. You can add or delete users and folders, and I believe if you turn off all sharing options, you won't be able to connect to the machine.
Here's my System Preferences window for reference.

In Lion, running on an I MAC, (late 2006), how can I stop certain programs (iTunes, Word) from automatically starting up when I start the computer?

Any application that is open when you shut down will re-open when you restart unless you deselect this when shutting down/restarting:
Also check System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login items tab and make sure there's nothing listed there that you don't want launched.

  • How do I prevent flash videos from automatically playing?

Whenever I open a new link to youtube, collegehumor, various tv websites, etc. firefox always automatically starts playing the video even before i even look at that tab. Sometimes when firefox freezes I have a few video tabs open and when it starts back up, a few videos start playing at once.
Is there a way to turn this off? I'd like to manually control when these videos play.

  • How can I prevent my emails from automatically opening

When I open email, it automatically has the emails open when I click on them. How can I just select certain ones without it opening and delete them?

I care that it automatically opens.  I find it really annoying that whatever message is at the top of my inbox, (or under my cursor) mail opens it, whether I have read it or not.  If I want to keep track of messages I have opened and read, I have to select and mark that message as unread every time I open mail, if I don't want to read it at that time.  I can't find a fix and it drives me nuts.

Yes, many sites need JavaScript to be enabled to work properly.<br /><br />
This site will most likely not work and in the Knowledge Base you see the content for all Firefox versions and platforms.<br />
So you shouldn't disable JavaScript globally, but you can do that selectively on a specific tab or based on websites.
    *Content Preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/4066
You can block and allow scripts selectively for websites with an extension like NoScript or YesScript.

    Yes, that's a plausible explanation.
Never having locked a Numbers document, I don't have first hand experience.
I put my sensitive documents in an encoded disk image file. Less bother. But then, I'm not e-mailing sensitive documents or otherwise exposing them.

  • How to stop music on iphone4 from automatically turning on

Many times when i take my phone out of my pocket my music is playing. Ive swtiched the ipod icon to another page., Ive turned off all music, yet I put my phone in my pocket and sooner or later Ill hear music coming frm somewhere, sure neough its my phone in my pocket. How do I prevent my music from automatically turning on. Thanks for your help.

I think it's something that you're going to have to learn to live with until Apple comes up with a software fix. Mine has been basically doing this since my previous 3GS. I thought they had it fixed and it mostly is for me with the latest IP4 EXCEPT every time I get in my car, the Bluetooth feature kicks in atomically to pair the phone. That's fine except that my Ford Flex radio also streams music from my IP. So, in the pairing process, the ipod music starts playing immediately after my IP pairs. A bit of a PITA. On the other hand, I have the Sirius App on my IP and I can switch from my music to a Sirius station and then "stream away" as I drive down the road.

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF "FIREFOX PREVENTED THIS PAGE FROM AUTOMATICALLY RELOADING". I did perform the "see Advanced - General - Accessibility. It worked for me and my "user" site (don't know how to say my site) and still having problems with my wife's. I have gone to OPTIONS → GONE TO → ADVANCE and CLICKED THE LINE → ""Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page…""
This did not rememdy the problem. I did try to get on the other site suggested

    but got a 404 error...
I have googled the "ff prevented...." and after a number of hours searching I still have not found a fix...
REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME....

You should still disable this setting:
*Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.
What is the value of the <b>accessibility.blockautorefresh</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page?

  • How can I prevent videos from automatically starting when I load a web site?

Recently web sites have begun not only showing me the first shot of a video, but starting the video automatically when the page loads (or when I scroll down to the part of the page where the video is located). This happens on various news sites (nytimes.com), facebook, and other places. How can I prevent the autostart from happening?
I've got AdBlockPlus and NoScript enabled, although I whitelist many sites in NoScript. Videos used to wait for me to click an arrow in the middle (like a "play" button) to start; some still do, but most don't. (I believe an add-on is responsible for the play button, but I don't recall which one.)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

The chosen answer is not an answer at all.
The question remains unanswered: How does one prevent unwanted video content from playing automatically on web websites? The problem is most notable on news sites such as ABC News.
It is really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really irritating. More irritating, in fact, than when people cut and paste a word a dozen times to emphasize it.
MORE IRRITATING THAN WHJEN PEOPLE USE ALL CAPS OUT OF FRUSTRATION BECAUSE NO ONE SEEMS TO LISTEN OR TO CARE THAT I AM SLOWLY LOSING MY MIND BECAUSE EVERY FLIPPING WEB PAGE IN EXISTENCE PLAYS VIDEAS THAT I DON'T WANT TO WATCH.
More irritating than repeatedly stating the same thing over and over and over and over... wait. I already illustrated that tautology. Never mind.
Does anyone have an answer? If there is no answer, and the powers that be at Firefox have decided that we have no choice, then state so. If those who decide what HTML "is" have decided that individuals have no power to opt out of video content on any given web page, then say so.
If Obama is to blame, then say so. If Bush is to blame, then say so.
But don't say, "the web [page may be using HTML 5 to play video" because THAT is a NON-ANSWER, let alone the "best" answer.

  • AFter the latest download, my e-mail service keeps getting a bar at the top "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". I have to keep hitting the "Allow" link? How do I get rid of this?

Ever since the last update, I'm having problem accessing my e-mail account. I keep getting an annoying bar at the top of the screen "Firebox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." I have to keep hitting the allow button, sometimes twice. And when I do get into the accounts the bar jumps in and out every time I open a new e-mail, or delete and old one.
How do I get rid of this. I've had this account for years, with a very reputable private e-mail provider. This is nuts.

    See:
