How do I prioritize 256 bit encryption over the 128 bit variant?

Hello folks,
been using the fox for ages now. Thanks for the fine product :) .
Up to now I also never had a problem I couldn't find a solution for, but strangely enough, that one gets me, since I seem to be unable to find an option allowing me to deactivate the 128 bit variant of encryption.
The bank whose homepage it concerns already told me that they are offering it, and there was this nice add on that allowed me to deavtivate the rc4 protocol, but I just don't get from AES 128 to AES 256 wich I just like a banking site to have...
Any solution would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can set all 128 bit SSL3 prefs to false on the about:config page to force using stronger ciphers.
Filter: ssl3*128
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)
Some websites with old software may require to temporarily set security.ssl3.rsa_rc4_128_md5 to true if you get a cipher overlap error.

  • How do I access my time capsule over the internet

    How do I access my time capsule over the internet. I've already set it up to share over WAN, but I have ATT so my TC is connected to the router provided by ATT can I still access my TC via the internet even though its not directly connected to the Ethernet?

    The TC should be in bridge mode.. not setup to share over wan.. that will never work. That is assuming you haven't bridged the ATT router.
    Once you bridge the TC see if you can setup BTMM using icloud settings in the TC. As per the Apple docos.. here.
    You should also be able to directly access the TC since you have a router with dyndns client at a guess.. the setup is simply forward port 548 to the TC.
    Google search this.. there is huge number of resources available. eg

    I get the message that another version of LabVIEW 6.0 is already installed and it won't let me install 6.0. How do I get rid of the evaluation version?

    I don't have LabVIEW in my Add/Remove Programs. I may have at one time, but
    can't remember. The removal must have been incomplete becasue LabVIEW 6.0

  • How secure is USB disk file data over the Internet?

    I have an Airport Extreme with an external USB drive attached. I can successfully connect to the drive both from the internal network (LAN) and from the Internet. I have secured my drive using user accounts granting either read-only or read-write access. When connecting from the Internet, how secure is the data when it is being transferred over the Internet between the USB drive and my remote device (Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc.)?

    Thank you, Kappy. I sincerely appreciate your input.
    It appears that the Airport Express "Share On WAN Port" is not really a secure connection. File data is not secure as it is transferred over the Internet, which is what I suspected. So, in order to secure the data one would need to establish a VPN (or equivalent) connection to the local network and then access the Airport Extreme disk data via the VPN connection. I should note that in this scenario the "Share On WAN Port" would not be needed and should probably be disabled. For me, a VPN connection is necessary unless I only want to store and share files and data that I don't mind others obtaining while in transmission.
    This is what I expected, but was hoping for something along the lines of what Apple's Messages does, which encrypts data from end-to-end between two (or more) users in a conversation to ensure the data/content is secure.
    Thanks again.

  • How do I run an application over the web?

    Hi All,
    I have an application that needs to run over the web through browser access. I understand that there are couple of options available for this.
    Can someone provide some guidelines and a brief 'How to' on doing this.
    My application is already developed through LabVIEW 8.6.
    Regards.

    Hi, for controlling a VI through the browser, you need to use G Web servers. Its fairly easy if you are going for simple control and all. You can incorporate all kinds of other options as well. You will need to download the internet tool kit though. A trial version is available here and here are a few links to get you started.

    If you only need VI access and control via browser, the process is very straight forward and you dont need to go through the SMTP and FTP stuff. Search LabVIEW help with keywords "controlling remotely" or "controlling vis" will give you a much more step by step explanation.
    Other wise there are remote panels, way much easier to use but require that the client should have labview installed.

    Hello,
    Please go to <http://www.peterdanko.com/errr.png> and see the screen shot of the page I am having difficulty with in the  design view.  Note the links: INSTALLATIONS, BELT COLORS, FINISHING, PRICING are neatly centered with the text body above and in a single line.
    Now view <http://www.peterdanko.com/atmos.html>  Note they are now stacked and randomly placed.  In different browsers they are all over the place.
    How can I keep them neat and tidy in all browsers?

    Below is the complete html code/css re-written for the 'product-wrapper' section. (scroll down). Not sure if this is of help or not. I think you need to take some time to learn some more html/css as the way youre going about it at the moment must be a complete nightmare for you. Copy the code below, (scroll down) paste into a new Dreamweaver document and save to your site folder. View in browser.
    You need to simplify your way of working instead of creating a <div> for each of your page elements, which must be a headache to keep track of???
    Example: Instead of putting your header 'Atmos Seating Group' in it's own individual <div> use a more meaningfull html tag like a header tag, <h2>Atmos Seating Group</h2>
    Then use some css to target the <h2>. We know the <h2> tag is in the 'right_tx_bx_400pxWd' <div> so write it as below:
    right_tx_bx_400pxWd h2 {
    text-align: center;
    margin: 15px 0;
    font-size: 20px;
    font-weight: normal;
    color: #999;
    Similarly instead of inserting the main wording in its own <div> use a paragraph tag, <p></p> it's more meaningful. Then target the paragraph tag:
    #right_tx_bx_400pxWd p {
    font-size: 13px;
    line-height: 16px;
    color: #999;
    Get the point. We only have to keep track of one <div> not several and we can target tags in that <div> more cleanly and effectively.
    Try and keep all off your css together i.e. so all the 'right_tx_bx_400pxWd' css is kept together so its easy to find in the stylesheet intead of scrolling up and down.
    Don't use heights on <divs> unless you know how high it will be and you won't know that unless it just contains images or you set a specific height for a scroll bar.
    BELOW IS THE CODE:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

  • How can I connect to multiple Macs over the internet?

    I have forwarded the ports on my Airport Extreme as follows:
    10.0.1.3 being assigned to my Mac Mini.
    I also have a MacBook Pro at home I would like access to which has the 10.0.1.4 reserved/assigned. I cannot connect to it because the port forwarding points to the Mac Mini, and it doesn't allow me to create another rule since those ports are already being used by that first entry. How do I go about having the option to connect to either one of the two computers at home when I'm at work using Apple Remote Desktop?

    it's not really a confirmed limitation of ARD, ARD is not designed to work outside of a LAN
    it's designed for system admins to manage macs remotely while on the same LAN
    but you want to use it outside of your LAN, you can by using VPN
    VPN gives you remote secure access to your LAN
    you will appear to be connected to your LAN
    so you can do most things as you would if you were actually on your LAN
    ARD does not facilitate a VPN connection
    you'd connect using a VPN connection to your LAN then start ARD, ARD will behave just as it would if you were on the LAN
    VPN client is built into OSX, system preferences, network, add choose VPN connection
    You'd need a VPN server such as OSX server on your LAN
    and configure any firewalls, routers etc to allow incoming VPN to connect to your server
    You'd also need either a fixed external IP address and external domain name or use dynamic DNS setup
    you could also try logmein

    While using the online chat feature one of the advisors was very rude to me and did nothelp solve the problem.

    This morning, I called 1800-80-3638, apple store support. This gal answered and I told her I need to send my iPhone 5s back to apple for reset. She asked me to tell her why... I explained and then she said she don understand my problem... Then I said that's why I call apple support... Guess what she replied "You do not know how to use smart phone so that's you own bloody problem"
    I was so shocked that such a prestigious company support team could have such a reply to customers!!!! I asked for her name and she refused to answer and said I want to speak to her supervisor.
    So, I called the toll-free number again. Again, its her!!!!
    So, I called the toll-free number the third time, before I can anything, she said "You can not find my supervisor!!!"
    Then I went to apple website, there is no customer complain tab.... No place to complain except the feedback site... What a big worldwide company but there is no place to handle complains!!!! Shame on you,

  • How to combine web.config section encryption and the usage of WebConfigModification

    Hi,
    I have a question about encrypting web.config section that are shared across solutions which might use WebConfigModifications to change the SharePoint web.config.
    Currently, I've embedded custom assemblies in my SharePoint solution. These assemblies read configuration items from the web.config so we need elements in the SharePoint web.config. We added those using the WebConfigModification class. No problem
    so far.
    Additionally, we want to encrypt specific sections, because they contain sensitive information. I tested this and encrypted the specific section. SharePoint still worked and my solution still worked. Still no problem so far.
    However, when I deactivate features that need to remove entries from that specific encrypted configuration section, the entries are not removed. Also, when I activate features that need to add entries to that specific encrypted configuration section, the
    entries are added within the section, but besides the encrypted content in that section. In the last case, SharePoint crashes complaining about invalid configuration. Makes sense, since entries exist twice (once encrypted, once unencrypted).
    Now we can tackle this issue when it's about sections are specifically created for our application/assemblies, but what if this is about section that are also used by other assemblies/solutions, say "connectionStrings" or "appSettings".
    Other SharePoint solutions might want to make changes to these sections as well using the WebConfigModification class. Those assemblies might not be able to deal with encrypted sections.
    Is there a way to deal with this issue, to be able to encrypt these 'shared' sections without other solutions generating a bunch of errors and crashing?
    Thanks in advance for any replies!
    Cheers,
    Ruud Hunnekens.

    Hi Ruud Hunnekens,
    From your description have you tried to first decrypt the section of the web.config file before removing the section nodes. In the feature activated event, add the section nodes and encrypt the section, then in the feature deactivated event, decrypted the
    section, then delete the nodes, check whether this works.

    Not a hack, it's a web-2 html server-based program that you run on your Mac that allows you to control your Mac remotely. It's very entertaining to say the least. I do like the fact that I can view several types of files remotely, Word, Excel, PDFs. It is password protected BTW.
    It looks browser based therefore ok but I just wanted to check with those of you more technically savvy than I am.

  • Generating AES 256 bit key using seed

    Hi
    As part of encryption requirements for encrypting the body of the SOAP Message while calling an external Web Service, it is requried to encrypt using a shared symmetric key.
    First step is to create a password digest
    Base64(sha1(nonce + createdTimestamp + password)) - This step is working completely fine and produces a 160 bit Hash
    The next step is to generate an AES 256 bit key using the above hash as the Seed. This should generate a 256 bit encrytpion key which can then be used to encrypt the message body.
    Would appreciate if anyone who knows how to generate AES 256 bit key using a hash seed in Java (v1.4.2) can provide some guidance.
    P:S. I am using WSS4J API to use WS-Security

    I have to generate 256-bit AES key with a 128-bit IV using the above password digest and the IV used for in the creation of the AES key prefixes the cipher text.
    The external WebService is .net webservice.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Bitlocker AES 256-bit cypher question

    Hi, all
    Have an odd situation I cannot make any sense of. I have a desktop PC running Windows 8.1 Pro. I launched gpedit.msc and changed Bitlocker’s cypher strength from the default AES 128-bit to AES 256-bit.
    I then connected a brand new Western Digital 4TB external drive (model WDBFJK0040HBK-04) to the PC via USB 3.0, and Bitlocker-encrypted the drive. Opened a command prompt window as administrator, ran “manage-bde –status” for the drive in question,
    which indicated the drive was encrypted with the 128 bit cypher strength, instead of 256 bits, as I had selected. Have unencrypted, rebooted and re-encrypted the drive time and again, always with the same results.
    When connecting the same external 4TB drive to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials in which I had made the exact same changes via gpedit.msc,
    I can encrypt it with the 256-bit cypher strength, with no problems.
    No TPM is used in either scenario, just a passphrase.
    Anyone has any idea why my 256-bit setting is being ignored in the Windows 8.1 Pro machine?
    Thanks
    Arsene
    ArseneL

    Well, running rsop.msc in my Server 2012 R2 machine does show my 256-bit bitlocker setting took, however, running rsop.msc in my Win 8.1 Pro machine shows it did not, which explains the problem I am having.
    Now all I have to do is find out why my request is not taking, even though I am logged in as an admin.
    Thanks!!
