How do I properly install a USB windows keyboard on an iMac?

Greetings everyone,
I have a new windows keyboard model Haveit Magic Eagle X1 gaming keyboard that has several problems being installed on the OSX system. This is a windows gaming keyboard that, for the most part has installed properly. The two main problems are the fact that the control keys have become the shift keys, and the lock keys (CAPS, Num, and Scroll) do not illuminate on the keyboard. I have scoured the internet, but can only find pages on getting apple keyboards to work with windows and not the other way around. Furthermore, I have switched the USB port that the keyboard was plugged in, to every USB port on the iMac. In addition to this, I have gone to system information to see if the power specification for the USB port matched the power requirement for the keyboard. To that end, the iMac has 500mA available for each port, where only 100mA is required to power the keyboard. I have found nothing on the manufacturers web page, www.haveit.hk, to help me in this matter. I hope that someone has found a solution, which, logically will probably be a third party software download which I am currently unaware of.

I may have spoke too soon. I cannot custom swap the control and shift keys, AND this doesn't help my CAPS lock indicators on my keyboard.

  • Can I use a USB Windows Keyboard w/my iMac while running Windows in Paralle

I have an iMac with Parallels and Windows 7. There's this one DOS program that I have to use for work, and it requires use of the function keys on a Windows keyboard. I know I can remap the keys on the bluetooth keyboard that came with my iMac, but just for simplicity, can I just go buy a USB Windows keyboard and expect that the function keys will work with this program?
I don't know if the fact that OSX is running behind the scenes might prevent the function keys from being passed along to Windows and the DOS program.
    Thanks!

VM will often 'disable' and not function with keyboard function keys as they would normally running Windows natively.
That was one of my reasons for abandoning Fusion. All I could have and use was a "generic" keyboard and mouse, when the MS drivers in Windows I would have a lot of really handy useful keys for doing things.
And I use MS keyboards for years, in OS X and then in Windows.

  • How do I re-install cs3 on Windows 8?

I uninstalled cs3 on Windows 8 because an error came up when I tried to open the program.  It said to uninstall the program and then re-install it.  Now I can't re-install it on windows 8.  Error keeps occurring saying "Component install failed" for both cs3 and shared components. How do I re-install cs3 on Windows 8?

uninstall anything cs3 that still shows as being installed, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then reinstall.

  • Just started up my Mac Mini out of the box, using a USB windows keyboard, it will not recognize letters so I am unable to enter serial number.  Anything I can do to get the mini mac right out of the box to recognize the windows keyboard?

Just started up my Mac Mini out of the box, using a USB windows keyboard, it will not recognize letters so I am unable to enter serial number.  Anything I can do to get the mini mac right out of the box to recognize the windows keyboard?  Do I have to buy an Apple Keyboard to get it to work right out of the box?

Is this a normal USB keyboard or is there anything specialized about it? Does this keyboard require you to install any special software to use it on a Windows box? Or is it usually a plug & play keyboard?
Normally if a Mac does not recognize a keyboard it asks you to press certain keys to identify the keyboard. What is happening on screen with this keyboard? What serial number are you referring to?

  • TS2756 How can i create a new usb connection (service)  on my iMac for sharing internet from my iPhone5 ( i seem have to deleted it )

How can i create a new usb connection (service)  on my iMac for sharing internet from my iPhone5 ( i seem have to deleted it )
i know its not a problem whit my carrier o data plan or sharing preferences on the ipone because when i use it un my laptop it works perfectly through
the usb and even works on the Imac through wifi and bluethood tethering but NOT through usb!!.
the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth
but not the usb iPhone i used to have.
And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.
can some one help me please??
this is how it looks (after the bluetooth PAN i used to have USB iPhone option)

The question would be more appropriate in the Mac forums as it is not really related to the iPhone.

  • Brushes Missing in Photoshop CC - How Do I properly install Brushes in Photoshop CC?

Hi, I bought some cool brushes for Photoshop CC and installed them, but a few days later I noticed they are no longer available in my brush presets. Where could they have gone? I did not reinstall Photoshop or do anything except quit Photoshop.
    Question:
Can someone please give me a link or tell me how to properly install brushes (.tpl files) in Photoshop CC so they stay loaded in Photoshop. I also want to add to these brushes and keep a folder o my Mac so I can back them up. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

    Ronald Keller wrote:
Your question confuses me: .tpl are not brushes. Brushes have an .abr extension.
So how did you install the brushes you bought? Maybe we can find out what went wrong?
Ronald, as you'll know .tpl files are tool presets.  Using a tool preset as opposed to a normal brush preset, lets you save additional features that are not available with a regular .abr file.   I don't know if he pioneered the technique, but John Derry is the person who introduced it to me via one of his Lynda.com tutorials.
You can get a heads up from here, but I am sure Google will find more links.
John Nack on Adobe : New Photoshop brushes from John Derry
This is a JPG version of the PDF instructions for installing John's Brush tool presets.  Note that this particular set were for CS6, and I was only able to get about half of them working with 2014.2.2  It should at least give  the OP the file locations for a manual install.  Note also, you may need to click on the image to open it at full size, and that the file locations are not necessarily the same for CC.

  • How can I properly install my MIDI keyboard?

    Hello,
I recently bought an iMac and I still have trouble figuring some things out. For example how I can install my Keyboard. It's a Yamaha PSR 1500. I bought Cakewalk MIDI cables so I could use my keyboard on my computer. I had an Acer laptop before and everything worked good. I've installed the program, but I have trouble getting it to work. I had to connect my Keyboard to my iMac with the MIDI/Audio configration, but I have no clue how it works. In the book there's a whole different Setup than I have on my iMac.
This is a printscreen of the Audio/Midi I have. Does anyone know how I can get my MIDI to work on this? Help would be very much appreciated.

  • Installing and Unistalling Windows XP Pro on iMac pro

I understadn from research that I can install Windows XP on my iMac Pro ( don't have it yet...) by using boot camp, this seems fairly straight forward. My question is can I uninstall it.
My reasoning is that currently I am running some PLC programming software that is only XP supported, however there are inklings that these will be iMac compatable. I want to run the Xp version under boot camp, then upgrade to Mac OS when they are available.
Is it possible to uninstall XP once installed?

Go to this url and read all about Bootcamp from the best source.

You should especially read this guide before attempting any BootCamp installation or you might screw it up badly.

  • Wired windows keyboard with 2009 iMac

According to two different Apple tech support people, I must erase my harddrive to get my iMac functioning properly again.  To do so, I had to get a wired keyboard to replace my bluetooth keyboard, since the latter doesn't work for my purpose.  How do I erase my harddrive using this windows keyboard?  What's the windows analog to Apple's "command r" ?  Needless to say, I'm pretty much a dummy here but follow instructions well.

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.
    The Forums are at the bottom of the main Apple Discussions page under Windows Compatible Technology. Here is a link;

  • MBP Bootcamp install of USB Windows 7 , Thunderbolt Display

We need support from APPLE! BootCamp
    Here are my issues.
Like many users, I must abandon the marvelous os x, and head to the darkside -  Windows 7 for work.
I have a MBP early 2011. I must use Bootcamp, because of the resource hogging the 3d CAD programs I use. have tried to in the past with VMWARE, Parallels ect. with no luck
I have a Corsair Force GT ATA 120 gb SSD III,  installed and my optical drive removed to accommodate my original Hitachi.
Remember, not to Install that Hitachi drive, until you have used a CD only install of windows 7 onto the SSD.
Why?- You can not boot from a USB disc that I am aware of, or use an external optical drive case, for your superdrive.
This is not ok, we need the capability to install windows 7 from something other than a CD. I went to reformat my SSD I was forced to open up my MBP case again. to reinstall the Super drive. Install Windows 7, then remove my superdrive and reinstall my 500gb Hitachi.
This is a royal, pain in the butt.
If a mac air has the capabilities of installing windows 7 from a usb APPLE, please give same rights to MBP.
Additionally, my osX runs like absolute garbage on the SSD, I rarely if ever use it because of the constant pinwheel I receive, I have researched this error, with
little or no luck, using apps like TRIM seem not to help.
I also own a thunderbolt display, and the fact that there is no support on connecting it without restarting the computer is also an issue.
Bootcamp Development -should add in fan speed Control,

  • How do i re install the file windows root\system32\hal.dll from a black screen

I was given two of the exact same computers a compaq presario c500 c501nr. One had major cosmetic issues and the other the mother board was no good so i put them together to make one good one. everything went well except i now have a black screen on boot up that says [please re-install a copy of this file<windows root>\system32\hal.dll.]  how do i go about finding that and installing it? it runs windows vista

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com

  • After i ran the installer program to reset to factory settings, in the Disk Utility menu there is no hard drive listed.  How do I properly install the OS?  On the left hand side it lists: 250.06 GB Hitachi HTSS..., Mac OS X Install DVD, HL-DT-ST DVDRW G2

The open window says, "Mav OS Install DVD" when I choose Disk Utilities.  The options listed on left are: 250.06 GB Hitachi HTSS..., Mac OS X Install DVD, HT-DT-ST DVDRW G2 3N and Mac OS X Install DVD.  How do I install the program on the hard drive?  This computer was given to me by a friend and I was trying to restore it to factory settings.  Thanks!!

You want to boot from the Install DVD and install OSX on the Hitachi drive.

  • How to replace the installed Generic USB Hub to Generic Super Speed 3.0 USB Hub?

Hi I have a problem with my RMBP 15" USB PORTS (both are 3.0 physically). Most of the days I will use windows 7 home premium through bootcamp.
When I connect my WD My Passport 3.0 to the usb port, there will always a pop up saying "Your device can work faster if it connects to a Super Speed 3.0 USB Port and when I do file tranferring between these 2 devices I will only get an average speed of 30 mb/sec which is DEFINITELY a speed of usb 2.0. As the usb 3.0 will be able to transfer (in reality) up to 100 mb/sec.
I think there is something wrong with the drivers installed. Attached is my device manager showing all the USB drivers installed.
Please advise me on what should I uninstall and install and where can I download the drivers or firmware.
For additional information, my macbook in using Intel Chipset C216.

This is more for googlers/random people in the same boat, since the OP may not be checking this any more.
I have arrived at this thread from another angle: I downloaded 'SlimDrivers', a free and non-contaminated 'driver updater' Windows program which is heavily-reviewed, on CNET as actually GOOD as opposed to almost all other 'dodgy' driver update checker programs out there (like Driver Reviver, Device Doctor, and Driver Detective - not to mention the scammy and notorious DriverAgent, of course).
I hit scan, and a whole set of drivers - seemingly under the one chipset download (as assisted by this youtube run-through) - came up. It's extremely user friendly and downloads the installer for you right from within the app. I've yet to install the chipset driver and restart - fingers crossed - but I think it's the same driver as OP is talking about.
Cos I've also noticed, at least once, some sort of USB issue in the past which made me think "huh, USB 3.0 mustn't be working with the bootcamp driver eh?"
So *I'm* wondering, whether what I've stumbled upon is indeed the same matter as OP, and thus also, maybe is a solution to the OP question as well .

  • How do I install Bootcamp on Windows 7 on my iMac?

I've just installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit on my 24" iMac. After i installed it i put my leopard disk in to install bootcamp and it comes up with there are compatibility issues so i continued anyway, it then starts installing until it comes to saying 'keyagent failed to start' followed by 'Mac HAL failed to start'. It also says to check i have sufficient privelidges so i ran the installer as administrator but no luck still.
I have read that because i have an early version of the leopard disk there are no 64bit bootcamp drivers and i need to install them, but i cant find them anywhere, i would assume they would come with Bootcamp 3.0 but i cant find that anywhere to download, ive downloaded bootcamp 3.1 but it needs 3.0 to install. Any ideas? Its driving me crazy!!!

Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS.
