How do I properly remove Logic VSTs?

I'm running Logic 9 at the moment, and a friend installed a torrented version of Gladiator 2 on my MB to see how it would sound. I do actually have an official copy of Gladiator 2 back home but I'll only be home in May.
So. This torrented Gladiator loads but does nothing even after locating the .t2k file. To cut a long story short, I'm trying to uninstall it because I don't want it to cause problems when I try to install the proper, paid-for Gladiator later on. I got rid of the *.component file, and there don't seem to be any Gladiator-related files left in the /Library/Audio subfolders but every time I start up Logic, Gladiator is still on the list of plugins so it *must* be reading from somewhere. I can disable it, but that's not exactly removing...
Are there any other folders I might be overlooking? Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Problem solved! Turns out there were a few hidden files I needed to get rid of as well.

  • How do I properly remove programs?

This is a long story, so I'll give the short version...
I was trying to update my Compressor software, but after I installed the update, it wouldn't open. I realized I had installed a version of compressor that needed OSX 10.4 or higher, I'm using 10.3.9.
I took compressor from my applications folder, trashed it and installed the original version I have. It still refused to open, I beleive the OS still thought I was trying to use the updated version. Don't ask me why, but I thought if I reinstalled OSX 10.3.9 that this would clear it all up. That made everything worse.
Now, I'm running into issues like this...
I had to reinstall my version of quicktime 7, because OSX 10.3.9 only has an older version of 6. When I did, I lost my Quicktime 7 Pro features. So, I reinstalled QT7 and went to re-register my QT7 Pro key again so that it would work...but the key number was already filled in. So, it's telling me I have QT7 Pro...but I can't use it due to some confussion in my OSX.
Other programs are acting like this too (I have the newer versions installed, but OS is only running the older versions, not the updates).
So, I think I can fix this if I knew how to properly uninstall a program from my Mac. If I completely got rid of all traces of QT, reinstalled everything it should work fine...how do I do this? I always thought you just moved an app to the trash and you were done.

You have to use a application like AppZapper or SuperPop to uninstall applications properly. (especially programm's that where installed with a installer, "drag-and-drop" applications don't really need to be un-installed like this).
    Hopefully this solved your problem.

  • How do I properly remove a user from my system ?

    Hi guys
I recently just purchased a macbook pro from a friend, and I am loving it sooooo much compared to crappy old windows.
Anyways, the issue I am having is that on all the applications it has my friends name and and the hard drive and 'Home' icon it says my friends name, even though I have renamed the admin account to my name.
Is there anyway to remove his account name completely or will this require a system re-install of 10.7.4 ?
If I do need to install 10.7.4 I may have a issue with that as my macbook pro i5 came pre-installed with Lion 10.7 and iLife
    Thanks

Doing  clean install of the operating system from the Recovery HD will not keep your current copy on the hard drive.  Backing up your current hard drive to an external drive is essential to avoid loss of content.
This is a safe method, but as with any operating system install process, take your time, read every question or option you are asked carefully and make sure you understand what it is asking of you before proceeding with each step.  Once the installer does the erase for the install it is irrevocable.  So backup first, then take your time and make sure you fully understand each step along the way.
Operating system installation is usually a very smooth and easy task as long as you are fully engage with what you are doing.
Remember it is easier to things right the first time than to correct mistakes later.

  • How do I properly remove unwanted programs?

In windows, even if you uninstalled a program, you would still have alot of files left over. I want to avoid all that with my mac. I was told simply moving an item to the trash did the trick, yet I still see very small traces left? Am I missing something?

  • Properly removing programs and other files

I recently tried to install World of Warcraft on my macbook. After I realized that my computer was just a little too slow to run it properly I tried to erase it. Now my macbook is telling me that my hard drive is almost full and I'm convinced that I didn't remove World of Warcraft properly. How do I check if I removed it or not and if I didn't how do I properly remove it and other files for future reference?

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Ruby Tube VST - how to convert/use in Logic Pro

    Hi,
Hoping someone can assist, how can I convert the RubyTube vst to be used within Logic?
After downloading the file, it appears as a "Unix Executable File", which I assume this is an unknown file type from the Mac's view.
What am I doing wrong as when I run it through VST to AU Adapter, I get an error.
Can someplease please help me as I seen threads where people have managed to convert this over and use it in Logic.
    Thanks.

I can hardly believe that, as there seems to be no OS X version of it, just windows and OS 9. Neither of those can be wrapped by a VST to AU wrapper.

  • How to properly remove replicas from iDS 5.0 servers

How to properly remove replicas and their associated entries from directory servers?
This question may seem trivial, however the reason I am asking this is that shortly after replicas are removed from supplier and consumer servers, slapd.exe generates an error on both machines, usually within 2 to 3 minutes after removal. That causes servers to restart and any other program connected to one of those two machines has to be restarted as well (or at least recconnected to them), which is very annoying, especially if those programs are in the middle of some processing and need to write or retrieve something from LDAP server.
I am using iPlanet Directory Server 5.0 SP1, on two Win2K machines. One server has a single master replica, other is the consumer - a tipical test configuration.
The documentation (Administrator's guide) is quite extensive in describing how to set up replication, but there is nothing on how to bring replicas down.
I can only imagine that entries should be removed in reverse order as they were created (directory entries, replication agreement, databases, suffixes, etc...), and that has been tried numerous times. Nevertheless, the problem persists.
    Can anyone please help me?

It would help if you could tell us which error is occuring on the servers...
Anyway the way to stop replication is :
    1) Remove replication agreements.
    2) Disable Replica.
    That should be enough.
You don't need to remove the entries, database not suffixes.
    Regards,
    Ludovic.

  • How do i properly erase an iphoto folder?

unfortunately (and ironically), in my paranoia to not lose any photos, i've imported similar photos several times into iphoto. i then used iphoto diet, but it does strange things sometimes - in my experience, it doesn't always remove the proper duplicate (but the thumbnail), etc. so i've resorted to manually sorting each of 15K (ouch!) photos to remove the correct duplicate. i do this by sorting through the photos for different years. i've started working on 2004, and wanted to start with a clean slate and erase all the photos, then only import the orinigals i want, but iphoto 'residually' shows the saved thumbnails (i think they're thumbnails b/c they are only about 16kb, and don't open to full size - i get the 'white screen' that others have mentioned). i entered the iphoto folder (i know - a no no, but didn't know how else to erase 2004 photos) and deleted the 2004 folder.
sorry for being so wordy - can you suggest a way to eliminate my 2004 photos in a way that would be iphoto-friendly ?
    thanks for any suggestions.
    -vince

There are several ways to erase photos, slideshows and albuns from iPhoto.
First of all, to make you more feel secure all you photos are actually in your iPhoto library- that means they have been copied to you pictures folder. Whatever you do with them, the originals are kept. I mean, if you have one photo in a certain album and if you erase it from that album, the original is kept in the Library and pictures folder. All iPhoto does is like an alias to the Library, so it is perfectly safe to erase an album or slideshow in iPhoto, since the real photos are in the Library, and the most real ones are still kept in the pictures folder on the finder.
..."how do i properly erase an iphoto folder?"- select it and press "delete" or on the "edit" menu--> "erase/delete/cut"... again... don't worry about the content of this folder/album, because they will remain either on the iPhoto Library and pictures folder on the Finder.
    Sorry to be so confusing...
    Hope I've been helpfull.
    Kisses from Portugal

  • How ou where install third party vst plug

    Hello,
does somebody know how or where install third parti vst plug ins?
    thank you

    Dan,
Did you read my post above yours?
Logic Pro X does not use VST plugins.. It only uses 64bit Audiounit (AU) plugins..
    and....
To install most plugins you simply use the installer that came with the plugin... or follow the instructions that came with the plugin..
    Cheers..

Here are 2 example .vi's I made based on altenbach's removeZeroes.png in this discussion thread:
It seems pretty pointless to post those because no new useful information is given.
Currently, only the input is defined in the connector pane, making them useless as subVIs.
unlike my example using integers, an "=0", like any "equal" comparison, is potentially dangerous with DBLs.
Reshaping a 2D array to 1D before removing zeroes is pretty pointless because a 2D output cannot be recovered. A more interesting scenario would be to remove some columns or rows (e.g. that are all zeroes) from a 2D array.
You should also clean up the front panel, e.g. properly zero the upper left corner, make the controls/indicators nicely labeled, sized and arranged, and maybe even add scrollbars to the arrays.
    Thank you for those comments.
Now the input and output are defined (in the updated attachments) for use as example subVI's.  I also cleaned up a few visual details, but I leave the rest for others to cater to their specific uses if they don't want to use this as a subVI (or at least as-is), such as changing the icons or changing to integers instead of doubles.
I'm not sure about what you mean exactly with "=0" being "potentially dangerous with DBLs".  I'm guessing you had a certain case scenario in mind.  Although the subVI's seem to work fine within my larger program and situation, my situation may not generalize with regards to this point.
I reshaped from 2D to 1D, with a 1D output, because it could be helpful for things like when later processing just needs a 1D array.  For example, in my situation I had to remove a huge spike of unnecessary "0"'s from a previous subVI that were affecting the output display of a certain histogram.  So it turned out a 1D array output was helpful, and you never know what problems come up, so I included the 2nd example.
Hopefully if someone is looking for this, they can just use or play with an example subVI (granted that they know how to plug things in for their context).  I was hoping to post a subVI people could put to direct use.

  • Properly removing 2.18.0011 Audigy drivers

I installed the 2.8.00 drivers for a while, but would now like to revert back to 2.8.000, however no matter what I try the 2.8.000 installer always says newer drivers are installed.
In the past I've found using this...
    takeown /f C:\Windows\*.cdf
    cacls C:\Windows\*.cdf /G *insert your logon name*:F
... along with an uninstall properly removes CLs drivers, however it's not working with the 2.8.00 drivers.
Anyone know how to completely remove the 2.8.00 drivers so I can go back to using 2.8.000?
    Cheers.

  • Should I remove Logic 8 before installing Logic 9

Hi guys, I just purchases Logic Studio (Logic 9) and I am ready to upgrade from Logic 8. Now I want to be sure I don't get duplicate files. Is it safe to install Logic 9 without removing 8, or would it be better to remove Logic Studio 8 and all of the content before installing 9?
If so, what is the best way to remove Logic 8?
