How do I publish to my own domain name?

Hi,
I've built my website and now need to publish it. I have hosted my websites with a 3rd party but had them change the CNAME to web.mac.com. The problem is that when I click publish my websites are coming up with an awfully long URL when all I want is the simple domain names that I chose. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...?

No, you don't have your websites hosted on a 3rd party. If you have used CNAME forwarding to web.me.com, then your sites are hosted on MobileMe and your domain name is forwarded.
If you just want the url http://www.domain,com to show up, then you need to use web forwarding instead of CNAME and then if you do this, your url will be http://www.domain.com for every page. Just go to web forwarding and the forward your domain name with masking to web.me.com/username/sitename and it will be forwarded.
Remember that you can only use CNAME once for every MobileMe account, the rest of your site after this must be forwarded using ordinary masked web forwarding.

  • How to publish custom web site with own domain name?

    Hey out there. I wonder if anyone can give me any tips on how to publish a web site with my own domain name.
    I have a web site I'm building and I want to purchase a domain name and then publish the site using that domain name.
    I know how to buy a domain name. I have a .mac account so I'm hoping that .mac can host the site. What I don't quite understand how to do is get .mac to host the site using that domain name. I looked through Apple Support but couldn't find what I was looking for. Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation. Thanks in advance.

    Dave ~ Welcome to the discussions. .Mac was re-branded as MobileMe last July. If you're not building your site with iWeb, it's considered to be a "custom" website. These Apple docs may help:
    MobileMe: How to publish a custom website
    iWeb ’08: Using your own domain name
    ...Use this search page to find such documents:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search
    Note that you don't need to have iLife '08 to be able to direct your domain name to your custom website published to MobileMe. As someone wrote on another thread:
    "My personal domain is linked to my MM but i don't even have ilife on my mac. When you go to the options in MM to link your personal domain to your MM it provides directions that will guide you with setting up your godaddy settings."
    ...Where "MM" is MobileMe here:
    http://me.com/account
    ...+Personal Domain+ tab, and "godaddy" is wherever your domain name is registered.

    how do i use my own domain name with creative cloud?
    i don't want to post web pages from behance.net. i want to use the domain name i have for my material. is there a hosting service for this? if not, can someone give me some pointers so I can publish?
    thanks!!

    http://forums.adobe.com/community/behance is where you would ask about publishing to "something else" from that program
    I use OLD Dreamweaver, and upload my HTML with an FTP program to my own web site... I will GUESS you can do that, if you can save HTML to your hard drive to then be able to upload to your web site

  • How do I use my own domain name  with Mac server with iWeb

    For a number of years I have had my own domain name that when typed into a browser it would redirect the browser to my site on the .Mac server. I hear with iLife ’08 I can have my own domain name hosted by .Mac so I know longer have to have the long addresses for each pages the I have now for my site (i.e. the http://web.mac.com/thewildhearts/WildheartPhotography/NatureGalleries.html). How do I go about getting my domain name (wildheartphotography.com) so that Mac will host it and do I need to notify the current host that Mac will be hosting my site now?
    Thanks. I really appreciate the help I get from this forum.
    Pat

    It's very easy, really. You go to your domain control and redirect the address. IPower, for example points the domain name very easily: you just type in the URL of your site and it will point to your mac server.
    I've used GoDaddy before and it is a bit more difficult to "point".

  • Publishing to a personal domain name

    The Personal Domain button is missing from my Accounts Settings page. How else can I publish to my own domain?
    -Tino

    You have obviously entered your personal domain name into your MMe account at some stage and either set up CNAME forwarding or web forwarding for your domain. All you need to do is delete your domain name from your MMe account and then go to your domain registrar and remove the CNAME settings.
    However, whether you do this or not, as Tom said, iWeb will publish to MobileMe whatever and will always publish here to you iDisk, so you can always access your site by going to web.me.com/username/sitename. Remember, that this is why you have to set up forwarding, because when you click on publish in iWeb, it never publishes straight to your domain, always you iDisk/MMe account.

  • Can't seem to get my own domain name to work

    First of all I'm sure this has been asked a lot so apologies if it's a repetitive post I'm just at the hair pulling stage!
    Well. I've had no issues joining mobile me (joined a week ago) and publishing my site from iWeb.
    But then I wanted to get my own domain name.
    (i got it from 123-reg.co.uk just in case that is is anyway significant.)
    This is where my question becomes a bit "Balloon" shaped.
    When setting my CName on 123-reg I was asked to enter info into two boxes. (That seemed to tally with the help files I have read.)
    I entered web.me.com into the first box and my domain name into the second. I'll just call it for now www.mywebsite.co.uk
    Then it asked me to enter my website IP which I located by using one of those pages you can type a domain into and it searches...
    Sorry if this is dumb but does that sound about right?
    Some questions-
    -Is it correct to put www.mywebsite.co.uk as well as web.me.com or should it be something else?
    -Would there be any mobile-me issues while I'm still on the free trial?
    -Are some domain name providers incompatible with mobile-me?
    -And if I change the CName with the registrar should I delete and reconfigure myown domain in my mobile me-account?
    If anyone could enlighten me they would basically be my new hero!
    Thanks.

    Oh one more thing..
    When asked for the IP of your website does that mean the IP of your own website or the host (being Mobileme of course? i.e. the IP of www.web.me.com/mywebsitetemporaryname or me.com?

  • IWeb own domain name blocked on MobileMe

    Dear Apple experts,
    I had a website created via iweb, hosted at apple with its own domain name www.onetobe.be I didn't manage this myself and the person who do it forgot to cancel the site before mobileme closure and even if the CNAME has been modified at the registrar, the domain still point to mobileme. The new web site works with the root name onetobe.be but any configuration I set at the registrar give either mobileme closed page or nothing. Who can I contact to cancel all registration of this site on apple system.
    Thank you

    Dear Wyodor,
    Thank you for your swift and polite answer, I'm not an expert, So sorry if I look like a "rtfm" guy, but this is the reason why I asked for help.
    I'm a great apple fan and I was very sad when apple turned down these so useful and easy services such as iweb, idisk, gallery. It seems to me that the "digital me" concept of late M. Job is, well, changing now.
    the new web site system for my site (wix) seems to give kind of the same option as redirecting the own domain name to the actual real web site at this wix provider.
    If I set the forwarding for onetobe.be to only http://oliviervanhorenbek0.wix.com/onetobe it doesn't work
    So I'll asked the registrar how I can un-masquerade the www.onetobe.be.
    Any additionnal info for how I can configure the domain "properly" will help me.
    Thank you again for your time.

  • Using own domain name , duplication of web address HELP !!

    Hi all,
    Although this is not a big problem it is quite annoying. I am currently building website within Iweb 09. I have managed to set up my own domain name with no problems at all. The only thing is I get a duplication of my website name on the browser here it is :
    *http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk/topviewweddings/Home.html*
    I would ideally like to just have *http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk*
    Anyone have any ideas on how to do this ??
    cheers
    T

    One way would be to use standard domain name forwarding (not CNAME) and enable masking. That would put http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk in the URL window of ALL your pages. The downside to that is visitors can only bookmark your first page which may or may not be a problem. My tutorial site, http://toadstutorials.info , is set up that way.

  • Creating own domain name

    I am really new to apple and iweb, so please bare with me! Anyone know how I can create my own domain name?
    Thanks!
    CATRYEM

    There are lots of companies that will sell you the rights to your own domain name. One of the most popular places is www.godaddy.com. Once you get your domain name, you can set something called "Domain forwarding" so that people who type in your domain name will get forwarded to your .Mac or iWeb address.
    If you find that this reply was helpful or even answered your question, please mark my reply as either "helpful" or "solved". Thanks.

  • HELP: is it possible to have my own domain name forward to a .mac/iwebblog?

    Just got a macbook pro last week. brand new to this/have no idea what i'm doing. want to get my own domain name. is it possible to buy a domain name ie
    'Testing123.Com' and have it so that when i publish my blog on my .mac/iweb account, the domain name forwards/links to the .mac blog?
    in other words, the .mac/iweb blog address is too long/convoluted...i want something catchier. so is it possible? please advise...would be eternally grateful. thanks so much,
    Emily

    Emily:
    Yes, you can purchase a domain name and have it forwarded to your iWeb produced site. You'll need to buy the name first. GoDaddy.com seems to be a very popular site to purchase domain names.
    Do you Twango?

  • Using my own domain name

    I'm thinking of changing my broadband to BT infinity.
    This a warning I'm consistently getting from others...
    "If you're looking to move to BT I'd strongly recommend you get e-mailed confirmation that the service they provide will allow you to send e-mail out from your own domain name, as many of the consumer BT packages don't allow this, forcing you to use a BT based address. Clearly not suitable considering you have your own domain etc."
    Can anyone confirm that using another providers SMTP is permitted, and will work?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
    Not sure where you got that warning from, as in general it's not true.
    The only thing that is true, is that ISPs typically prevent access to their smtp servers when not connected to the ISP, and if using a non ISP email address - that needs extra steps to be able to send using the ISP smarthosts (e.g. mail.btinternet.com).
    "Home ISPs" are different to specialist domain sellers.
    I use BTinternet and my own smtp server name for my domain without any issues.
    It actually depends how your domain name has been set up and whether it's just a name, and not specifically using any associated smtp server.
    In this case, you need to go through something called address verification (with BTinternet) and associate a domain email address with the BTinternet email address (e.g. see my shortcuts - link below - option 0e).
    You typically can't use mail.yourdomain etc as the smtp server, unless that's been specified as part of your domain package - usually at extra cost as you would be using the domain seller's servers.

  • Using your own Domain Name

    This is what I have as my url now...
    http://web.me.com/seanfahey/Black_JackPress/Welcome.html
    I'm trying to put in my own domain name that I purchased from GoDaddy.com. Please help!
    Much appreciated.

    You need to enter your domain name into your MobileMe account first - log in under System Preferences and then go to the Personal Domain name settings and enter your domain name in here.
    Then go to the DNS settings at GoDaddy and set up a new CNAME with your alias as your domain name - 'www' that is then forwarded to web.me.com which is your host.

  • How can I find the currently logined domain name on Windows??

    Dear,
    I've a program that query some user account information from A.D.
    But I don't want to hard code anything.
    I've read some previous post about using LDAP, and using DNS queries to found all LDAP server of A.D.
    But how can I get the A.D. domain name in Java?
    for example
    ldcp://_ldap._tcp.xxxx.yyyy
    I want to get "xxxx.yyyy" from the logined user account. It is possible in Java.

    You coud use the NTSystem class to derive the NetBIOS domain name, however without doing some gymnastics it isn't easy to derive the fully qualified domain name. import java.io.*;
    import com.sun.security.auth.module.NTSystem;
    class NTDomain {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              NTSystem system = new NTSystem();
              String domain = system.getDomain();
              System.out.println("Domain: " + domain);
    }The only other alternatives could be to check the domain suffix of the user principal that was authenticated via Kerberos ....
    lc = new LoginContext(searchkrb5.class.getName(),new SampleCallbackHandler());
         lc.login();
         catch (LoginException le) {
              System.out.println("Logon failed: " + le);
              System.exit(-1);
         System.out.println("Authenticated via GSS-API");
            System.out.println("User: " + lc.getSubject().getPrincipals().toString); however I think that you still have to specifify the Kerberos realm in the apps configuration file.
    Another alternative could be to make assumptions about the machines hostname, however one day an assumption will always be proven wrong, (eg. The machine's DNS domain name does not need to match the Active Directory domain).
    Unless there is a Java API to read the Windows registry or extract Kerberos ticket information from the WIndows Kerberos ticket cache, you may be kind of stuck.

    Hi,
    please do the following in your /etc/hosts file
    find the line containing the hostname,
    and add your hostname again with a dot as a last char
    example for hostname india
    192.150.1.1 india india. loghost
    and restart the sendmail process : kill -1 <sendmail process num>
