I can't find a "publish" button. How do I publish my first website from Dreamweaver?

you could use DW's FTP program. Go to Site->Manage Sites.
To be able to be independent in all this things it is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program, because I for my part search for experts, I don't charge a "jack of all trades".
To manage several websites or to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server or to use a "a site-wide synch", I'm using FileZilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.
Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.
And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:

I am unable to publish using Dreamweaver CS6 if I select a folder

I can publish Ok to main directory, but if it select /public-html it does not work. Tried witnhout the slash too. It's a Centos 6.4 x 64 running Apache. Set up web sites with webmin/virtualmin and chanmged permissio0ns to 777 in case that was the problem.
Filezilla works! with same info.

I am using Flash CC2014 which publishing as html.
(When I publish as html with edge animate you can create an oam file which allow the inserting of the resulktant animation into a web page)
The files produced with Flash CC 2014 are: html try.html and html.try
I was hoping I could use some way to just insert the html animation produced by Flash.

How to Publish to the web using Dreamweaver

hi,
I'm a graphic designer with little code knowledge.
I keep uploading my "deploy to web" folder using dreamweaver to my web host but I keep getting and error message, I know somethings up when even dreamweaver can't preview the "main.html" file, I don't know what to do, any ideas?
(dreamweaver can only preview the "main.html" from the "run-local" folder probably because it's local).

Hello,
Your suspicion is correct. Catalyst needs to load some resources in order to run your project. For security reasons, these resources can be loaded from your computer, or from the internet, but not both.
When running on your computer, the run-local .swf loads these resources, as well as any external resources in your project (videos, swfs, etc) from your local hard drive. So it will preview correctly in Dreamweaver.
However, when you publish your website to the internet, your Catalyst .swf needs to load resources from the internet, and therefore you need to use the deploy-to-web version.

How do I upload a finished website to Business Catalyst using Dreamweaver?

I've finished building a website that I want to publish on Business Catalyst for my client. I'm using Dreamweaver CC. There is an option for creating a new BC website, but I can't find a way to upload a finished site like I was able to in the older versions of Dreamweaver. Am I missing something?

A workaround that's available that involves a few steps.
1. Print a network configuration page to get the printers host name.
a. press the wrench in top right hand corner
b. Select the wireless menu
c. Scroll and select network configuration.
d. Print network configuration page.
2. Select start menu
a. Go to my computer.
b. At the top of the page select map network drive.
c. In the drive box select a available drive letter.
d. In the Path or Folder text box, type the following:
\\ insert host name here\Memory_Card
example on how it should look. \\HP7A5319\memory_card
Select finish after entering information.

I have been using DREAMWEAVER MX for almost ten years to keep a website up-to-date. Can I switch to iWeb now to do the job, and if so, how do I go about it?

With MacOS 10.7 looming on the horizon, using veteran software DREAMWEAVER MX any longer does not seem to be such a good idea. I would like to use an editor that can cope with the new MacOS. Is iWeb that editor?
Specifically, I need some clarity on these issues:
Can I switch to iWeb now to create and publish content in my old website for which I have been using DREAMWEAVER MX?
Can I use the html layout I have been using in DREAMWEAVER, or do I have to steel myself for drastic changes?
How do I import the complete website into iWeb – if at all?

If you switch to iWeb you will have to build the site from scratch since iWeb can't read or import html files. Also since the future of iWeb is a little uncertain as to if it will be continued to be supported by Apple it might not be the best move at this time.
You might look into upgrading to Dreamweaver for Mac.

I have recently created my first two webpages, and they looked like they were working when I was using Firefox. But when using Internet Explorer one of the pages drop the text down to an area of the screen where it's impossible to read it. Can someone please help me out? I am using Dreamweaver and I'm sure there is a basic problem I've created for myself, but I can't figure out what it is! This is the webpage I'm having problems with: www.haanshuus.no.

I don't think this has anything to do with the conditional comments.
The problem is with your layout approach. Trying to precisely fit content over a very large background image never works as planned. If you increase text size in any browser (Zoom text only, Ctrl+++), your black content spills out of the gray box into the black region below. Black text on black background becomes invisible. Your approach works in Print design but fails on the web because web pages need to be flexible.
Remove your Body background image and notice how your page flows. A different approach would be to slice your background into sections to create a flexible gray box.

How to use Dreamweaver instead of Site Builder

I created a website using Dreamweaver and used its FTP capability to upload the files. Dreamweaver uploaded the files and the Web Space Monitor lists all of the files but they are not accessible using my personal URL (http://mysite.verizon.net/username). In the Disk Space tool in Site Builder shows the files under a category of "Other Files (including system files)."
How can I get my website to be active through my personal URL without using Site Builder?

So long as you're consistent when linking each file to the original index it should be fine. The Suffix that it has really hasn't mattered for years.

For iWeb, I like to do only one site per domain file. I move domain files out of the Application Support folder and place them inside project or client folders, or in DropBox. Once you duplicate a domain file and begin customizing it, it will load and behave as a separate project/site.
I publish each iWeb domain/project direct to a server via FTP. Sometime I publish to a folder, then upload via FTP manually.
iWeb is a remarkable tool, especially when you work from scratch with blank tamplates

The App was developed with InDesign 6.0

You'd have to sign up for an Apple Developer account and then gather all the UDID's (Apple limits this to only 100 devices) that you want your app to be installed on. Create your mobile provisioning profiles to include these ID's and then you could use TestFlight to push out your app and monitor who has installed it. Of course Testflight is intended for monitoring your apps performance but I'm sure you can get away with it if you use it to push you app. One thing to keep in mind is the mobile provisoning profiles are only valid for 1 year. How do i create a styled spry mysql driven menu using dreamweaver cs4?
I have cs4. I gave up on using MS sql as a datasource. I finally got a php successfull connection in my PHP web page.
I would like a nice video tutorial for creating a dynamic menu.
I guess i can style it by attaching a css file to the page. Are their any already designed css files out there in some online area?
i am not a good designer. so i would like to simply have a collection of menu_style.css files and choose what looks good.
But first i need to build the spry menu from the mysql database.
Any help is apprechiated.
My first choice was to maintain the data in an MS sql server file. If i could directly attach to an ms sql datasource then that would be the best option.
I dont think i want to have to re-generate an XML datasource each time i add or modify the menu. I would like to maintain the MS Sql or mySql file instead.
If i could generate an XML datasource from the MS Sql database then I may even prefere that, but i have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do that and not had any success. So i prefere working in MS sql but would settle for mySql if i had to.

Open the Find & Replace tool with Ctrl + F
Change the Find In dropdown to Entire Current Local Site
Change the Search dropdown to Text or Source code
Add the text to find in the Find field
Add the text to replace in the Replace field (or nothing if you just want to delete the text)
Hit Replace All

I would like to create a dynamic newsflash using dreamweaver and PHP in that the newsflash will be pulling information from a MySQL database. The newsflash should also have a link to view more information about the piece of news a user wants to know more about. Which tools do I need to use in dreamweaver and how's the procedure to go about that. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanx in advance!

I think you´ll need at least a MySQL table with the following columns:
- id (primary key, int, auto_increment etc)
- news_headline (varchar)
- news_teaser (text)
- news_content (text)
What I´d personally add are columns such as:
- news_date (date or datetime)
- news_external_link (varchar), if a "read more..." link is supposed to navigate to an external URL rather than displaying the contens of the "news_contents" column.
Based on such a MySQL table it should be easy to use Dreamweavers standard Server Behaviors to create the usual datalist.php, insert.php, update.php and delete.php documents, and there are numerous tutorials out there which will teach you how to do that.
Am I right when assuming that you´ll also need to know how to automatically pull, say, the 5 most recent news records from the database ?

You can use their BC login details and use them , which on publish the site will be under their account.
Please change the BC login from Edit > Preferences > Publish > Switch Accounts , for Mac it would Adobe Muse > Preferences
