How do I "pull" date-referenced data from one table to another?

I have two tables: DateNamesTable and DisplayTable.
DateNamesTable has two columns: OrigDate and Name.
Data could look like this (ugly dashes used for "column" spacing, sorry):
OrigDate - - - - Name
1/12/1983 - - - James Smith
2/7/2006 - - - - Paula Tomkins
DisplayTable has two columns: RefDate and Name.
On this table I am not concerned with year, only month, day and name. I want this data to look like this:
RefDate - - - Name
1/1
1/2
1/12 - - - James Smith
1/13
2/7 - - - Paula Tomkins
12/31
In other words, DisplayTable will have a row for each day of the year and the names from DateNamesTable:Name column will appear in the DisplayTable:Name column on the DisplayTable:RefDate row whose month and day correspond to the DateNamesTable:OrigDate date. (I am not concerned here with the possibility of more than one DisplayTable:Name per RefDate.)
It would be nice if I could read the values from the DateNamesTable and "push" them or "put" them into the appropriate DisplayTable locations (sort of a reverse LOOKUP function), but that doesn't seem possible. This leaves me with having to "pull" the data into DisplayTable.
The problem seems to require that for each DisplayTable row, I have to scan the entire DateNamesTable:OrigDate column for an OrigDate whose month and day matches the DisplayTable:RefDate and then retrieve the corresponding DateNamesTable:Name data to place in the DIsplayTable:Name cell.
I think this should be able to be done with some combination of IF and LOOKUP functions, but I don't see how to structure it. Then again, maybe there is another way.
Any thoughts, anyone?

How can I create an anchor link, from one table to another?

I want to make an .html web page with two tables, side by side. In the left table I want to put a list of names. In the right table I want to have text anchored at the top of the right table (linked anchor to the names in the left table) so that when I click on a name from the list in the left table the text associated with that name will appear at the top of the table on the right? In the right table, I want to be able to scroll up and down to read the text in the right table. In the left table I want the list to remain near the top of the page while I'm scrolling up and down in the right table. I want the list on the left always in view and stationary while I'm scrolling through the text in the right column.
I tried just anchoring text to the top of the right column (without linking the anchor to a different html file) but when I scrolled down in the right table, the whole page scrolled down so that I could no longer see the list of names in the left column.
How can I achieve this effect? Do I need to anchor to another html file, or can I achieve the result without linking to a different html file?

Iframes should be in there, but they only show up when you're in code view. But all it does anyways is place the frame tags where your cursor is. You'll also need to add some properties, such as width and what not. A quick google for iframe properties will provide plenty of examples. Like a regular frame, it displays a separate a html page which must be referenced in the properties. A named anchor as we know is part of the link which can be used onnthe same page, or open another page to a certain location. So it's just a matter of formatting the link so it targets and includes the iframe as well as the other attributes. I'm pretty sure it's doable and not too difficult, but again, a quick google shold provide the answer.

How to copy data from one table to another (in other database)

Hi. I would like to copy all rows from one table to another (and not use BC4J). Tables can be in various databases. I have already 2 connections and I am able to browse source table using
ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery("select ...");
But I would not like to create special insert statement for every row . There will be problems with date formats etc and it will be slow. Can I use retrieved ResultSet somehow ? Maybe with method insertRow, but how, if ResultSet is based on select statement and want to insert into target table? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

No tools please, it must be common solution. We suceeded in converting our BC4J aplication to PostgreSQL, the MSSQL will be next. So we want to write simple aplication, which could transfer data from our tables between these 3 servers.

How-to extract data in chunks from one R3 to another R3 system

Does anybody know how to extract data in chunks from one system to another? Imagine you would like to extract 1M records in chunks of 10K records, how would you do it between 2 different R3 systems? A cursor (even with hold) doesn't work

Adding Data From One Table to Another

Now, this doesn't strike me as a particularly complex problem, but I've either strayed outside the domain of Numbers or I'm just not looking at the problem from the right angle. In any case, I'm sure you guys can offer some insight.
What I'm trying to do is, essentially, move data from one table to another. One table is a calendar, a simple two column 'date/task to be completed' affair, the other is a schedule of jogging workouts, i.e, times, distances. Basically, I'm trying to create a formula that copies data from the second table onto the first but only for odd days of the week, excepting Sundays (and assuming Monday as the start of the week). Now, this isn't the hard part, I can do that. The problem comes when I replicate the formula down the calendar. Even on the days when the 'if' statement identifies it as an 'even day', the cell reference to the appropriate workout on the second table is incremented, so when it comes to the next 'odd day', it has skipped a workout.
I can't seem to see any way of getting it to specifically copy the NEXT line in the second table, and not the corresponding line.
This began as a distraction to try and organise my running so I could see at a glance what I had to do that day and track my progress, but now it's turned into an obsession. SURELY there's a solution?

Several possible ways to move the data occur to me, but the devil's in the details of how the data is currently arranged.
Is it
• a list of three workouts, one for each of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then the same three repeated the following week?
• an open-ended list that does not repeat?
• something else?

Value changing on a row by row basis? Not quite sure what you mean, but it seems that you want to use the results of an insert into one table as input for another. If so then SSIS is not needed, inside the stored proc use the SQL that will do that and for
all records as
INSERT A INTO dbo.table1

Passing data row-wise from one VO to another.

I am a ADF newbie so I have a slight issue which I am not able to resolve.
I need to pass data from table t1 to table t2 which I am able to establish by creating viewlink between the two. But each time I press the 'CreateInsert' button for the VO made for t2,I need a different value to be passed. Basically, I need to pass values rowwise from t1 each time the user clicks the 'CreateInsert' button for t2 VO.
Eg. If there is an itemCategory table which contains the attributes for an item such as Expiry Date,Food Code,Type of food then for the itemFood, each time I click the 'CreateInsert' button, a new row should be created where attributeId has to be passed one by one i.e. on first click Expiry date should be passed, 2nd click food code should be passed so that based on these attributes,corresponding attribute values for itemFood can be entered in the itemFood table.
How can I achieve this in ADF? Is there an alternative way where instead of clicking the 'CreateInsert' button, attributeids cn be passed from itemCategory to itemFood?
Any help in this case is highly appreciated.

Is it possible to pass multiple values for same attribute from one table to another using viewlink?
eg. If there are 2 tables- FoodAttributes which contains the type of food and the attributes associated with it.
say,Type -Vegetable, Non-veg, Fruits then for vegetables,attributes can be weight,leafy,etc.
Another table is FoodTable where we have food specific attribute which contains name of food ,attributes associated with it and the values for those attributes, like cabbage is name, attributes associated with it are leafy,weight and in values we specify leafy as yes and its weight in kg. So I need to pass the attribute names from 1st table to 2nd table. Please suggest a way to do this.

MySQL move date from one table to another

I was wondering if there is a MySQL command that will let me move a selected row of data from one table to another. both tables have the same columns and declaration type (one table is actually an archived table on old data)
example
I wasnt to move all data in Table1 where the date is greater than 30 days old to Table 2
-- so the result should be...import all rows to Table 2 where the date is greater than 30 days old..and delete all date from Table 1 that is greater than 30 days.

1) get all row that is greater than 30 days

for this app..losing a few rows does not
impact on how we analyze the data.That's what everyone always tells me too. But 99% of the time they come back and want to know why the cannot balance and/or validate the data between two runs taken only minutes from each other.
I've seen people puzzle over data for days that they swear they ran the exact same utility for their tests, but they were in fact using live data, and additional data had accrued but since all they had to do was execute the a script without parameters (they didn't put in a stop time), they got two different answers and it always, and I mean always confuses people. Be safe, and put the option in for and end date/time, then when they waste days trying to figure out why the two different observations gave them different numbers, they cannot blame you (because you gave them the option)!

Moving time-dependant data from one table to another (archiving)

Hello all
I would like to know if there's an easier solution or a "best practice" to move data from one table to another. The context of this issue can be found within "archiving".
More concretely: we have an application that uses several tables to log information to.
These tables are growing like crazy, and we would like to keep only "relevant" data in those tables, so I was thinking about moving data from these tables that have been in there for, say 2 months, to "archiving" tables.
I figured there must be some kind of "best practice" to get this done.
I have already written a procedure that loops the table that has the time indicator and inserts the records from the normal tables into the archive tables (and afterwards delete this data), but it seems to be taking ages to get it done.

I had a custom table called sales_data in that table there are columns like JAn,FEB,upto DEC including other columns so in each month there is some data total data is 23000 count but each month has has specific data like JAn-2500,FEB-2000 like that it has total 23000 records
My Requirement is i have to move data from one table to another table that too if i will pass jan only jan data should move like that feb,march,.....
in my table there is no month column i had get it from another table called gl_periods and by using cursor and case function i have written the code
well while when i am inserting data am passing year,month as parameters but 23000 data is moving it should get like that.

Moving Data from one table to another table

Hi,
I've a requirement to move large volumes (few billions) of data from one table to another empty target table. The target has more number of attributes and may not have same attribute name as the source. Please let me know what's the best method using oracle to move data in this case?

Append data from one table to another.

Hi,
I want to insert/append some or all the data from one table to another table.
For eg: Data from table table1 to be appended to table2 with the same constraints, indexes etc. The columns are same for both the tables.
I am using 10g version 2.
Please specify which method would be good for this process.

Advice on Promoting Master Data Services Changes from one environment to another, e.g. DEV to UAT

Has anyone got experience of creating a script to promote Master Data Services changes from one environment to another, e.g. Development to Production please?
The changes basically consist of adding several new MDS members which can be accessed via Excel.

In MDS terminology an Entity is metadata, and Entity Members are the data.
Typically changes to an Entity (ie model design changes) are promoted to different environments. Model design changes can be replicated manually in each environment or you can Export the model and Import it into the target environment.
Adding, editing and deleting entity members is performed directly in each environment.
If you want to selectively import data from a Dev environment, you can use staging.
