How do i pull music off my iphone 4s

My computer hard drive died so after installing a new one I had to reload itunes.  All my music purchased through itunes automatically synced over but none of my other music.  How do I get all the other music off my phone before upgrading my iphone to the new software?  I've heard people have lost lots of music with this upgrade.

You should be able to sync it back to iTunes? It sounds like the music automatically re-downloaded from iTunes, rather than your phone.
Can you plug it into your computer directly and sync it back to your Library? It should then read the music off your iPhone and place it in your Library (I think?).
If not, best thing might be to call Apple Support: http://www.apple.com/contact/
Hope it helps!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?

  • HT1351 How do I take music OFF my iPhone? I have a 4S

Can anyone tell me how to get music off my iPhone?

The same way it was put there, by managing content via iTunes on the computer.

  • How can i get music off my iphone onto my new computer without the music on both having songs deleted?

I have a new computer and have put some music on it before I hooked up my iPhone. So now I have some music on my iPhone that I don't have on my computer and I don't want to 'sync' and lose some of the music on my iPhone.  So I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting the music off my iPhone and adding it to my new iTunes??

The syncing of music is not a true sync process - not really a sync at all. It is a transfer process. No iTunes content in your iTunes library will ever be touched or removed by syncing an iDevice.
Where is your old computer - the one with your iTunes library that was used to sync with your iPhone? Why didn't you transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer along with all other important data such as documents, photos, etc.?
If your old computer is still available, transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link. This will prevent any iTunes content from being removed from your iPhone with the first sync with iTunes on your new computer.

  • How do I get music off my iphone and into my itunes

I had several CDs that I had downloaded into my itunes and put them on my iphone. Then my computer crashed and I had to get a new one. Now none of those cds are in my library but they're still on my iphone. How can I get them off my phone and into my itunes? I cant sync any new music because it says my phone is synved with another itunes library and if I do, everything on my phones gonna be erased. Help????

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • How do I take music off my iphone

I have used iCloud to put music on my iPhone and now I need to take some off. How do I do that?

    Hi TatiWhited,
You can delete individual songs, artists, albums, playlists, compilations and composers from your iPhone.
Swipe over one of the items above and tap on the red DELETE button.
This information is on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide
    manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
I hope this information helps ...

  • How can I delete music off my iphone 5 that was a "purchased" item, and it isn't in my itunes on my computer?

I accidentally downloaded a free song from Starbucks months ago, and now I can't get it off my phone. It won't show up when I manually delete music, either on my computer or when I try the swipe method on my phone. It's just there.
There's two songs, actually, and I want them both gone. Turning off my cloud connection didn't change it because they are downloaded onto my phone and won't leave! I just want them gone, because it's a nuisance and I don't even like them. I have a PC, so no tricky Mac tricks will work for me. Please help! Is this some glitch in the software or something?

    Hello kerrisapatricia,
It sounds like you have a couple of songs you want to delete from your iPhone. This article should help with that:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
    To delete a song:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
If you see a cloud icon next to them right now, or after you delete them you can hide them by turning off Show all Music in your settings here:
    Tap Settings > Music
    Download past purchases

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Now that I'm using Match, how do I get music off my iPhone?

I've got Match enabled on my Mac, iPad 2, and iPhone 4. I have a bunch of music on my phone from before I enabled Match (about 8 GB worth) that I would now like to delete all at once. I'd rather keep the drive space free and just dl matched songs as needed. When I try to manage the music on the phone in my iTunes window, though, there doesn't seem to be a way to do it anymore. When I select the Music tab on my iPhone while using iTunes, I am presented with a window that says "iTunes Match is On." Any thoughts on what I need to do here?

You can go to settings>general>usage click on music and then swipe across the music and a delete button will appear.
Press the delete button and your music should delete.
You cannot manually manage your music from the computer and have itunes match going also.
You either have to have match working on your phone or be syncing the old way.  You cannot have both right now.

  • How to get music off my iphone

How can I get music off my iphone? My other itunes library was wiped and and now I have a new one, I cant do the new updated I'm scared ill lose everything on my phone.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is ituns purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything form the old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer.

  • How can I remove music from my iPhone that's not on a playlist, or checked off in the Sync window in any of the possible categories (Playlist, genre, artist, etc)? HELP! It's taking up SO much space on my phone

How can I remove music from my iPhone that's not on a playlist, or checked off in the Sync window in any of the possible categories (Playlist, genre, artist, etc)? HELP! It's taking up SO much space on my phone but I cannot see a way to remove any of it

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

Click on transfer purchases only works for purchased apps and music, but NOT the music rip from CDs or other sources.
For transferring music other than those purchased from iTunes, refer to the following:
