  • How do get so the gradient overlay are the lightest around the rounded-edges?

    Hi!
How do I gradient overlay so the darkest gradient follow the sides of a circle?
I am making iPhone 6 mock-up for first time. I used gradient overlay to get the lightes spots along vertical sides, but how can I do the same with the edges?
I have attached a picture to show. I suck at explaining.

Not sure I understand what you want but have you tried a Shape Burst Gradient Stroke?

I am new to Iphoto and computers, but I aam working on it!  I am interested to learn HOW TO PUT A WATERMARK on my photos when (if) I set up a Website.
Is there anything on Apple that would help?  Or maybe a book that I could get from the Library??
    Thanks

It can be done in Aperture or with an app like these

There are others. Search on Macupdate.

  • How can I put current date and time in Photo Info (Print module)?

I often use the Photo Info option in the Print Module to caption my proofs with File Number plus the date and time the print is made.  This allows me to match up the print to the History state for the image, so I know which print version I'm looking at.  I've always wanted to get Lightroom to automatically enter the date and time the print is made.  It obviously knows this info, since it stamps the History state with date and time.  Currently I have to modify my caption manually with Custom text each time I make a print.  This is a major PITA.  Has anyone figured out how to get Lightroom to do this?

There is a Date/Time title in the titles browser, does just what it says...

  • How can I put a name/description below the photo?

In older versions of iPhoto I was able to name/describe a photo that was visible anytime I looked at photos.  Can that still be done?

You can change the title which displays under the thumbnails.  The description, however, is located in the Info drawer and is not visible under the thumbnail.  Just be sure you have the View ➙ Titles selected in the View menu:
    Happy New Year

  • How do I put Facebook as an option in photos; send?

I have facebook on my phone, but somehow It is not an option after taking a photo to send it to Facebook.

There is no such option with the iPhone's Photo app at the present time, but this will be changed with iOS 6 to be released this fall. There will be more FaceBook integration under iOS 6 similar to the Twitter integration currently available with iOS 5.

  • Gradient overlay won't move with item

I've created a button with a gradient overlay, but when I click and drag the button, the gradient overlay stays put, it won't move with the button. Is there an option I'm overlooking to anchor the gradient with the item I've created? I've never seen this before. I'm on Photoshop CC 14.0 on a Mac.

How are you creating the gradient overlay: via layer style, shape fill properties, or adjustment layer?  All except the adjustment layer will move with the button.  For the adjustment layer, you need to select both layers and link them together with the chain icon in the layer pallet.

  • How would I go about making a gradient overlay in AE

So, I recently made the move from Lightworks over to the Creative Cloud suite and I'm trying to figure out how to accomplish some of the same effects that I had produced in Lightworks. I can figure out most things that I need to do in Premiere Pro on my own, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to reproduce an animated image overlay. Put simply, the steps are:
    1. Gradient slides into the viewing area and the entire height of the screen from the right side and goes about 35% of the way from right to left during the animation.
    2. While the gradient is fading in, icon images of game materials are slowly fading in.
    3. Text describing the amounts of each item needed are are also slowly fading in during this time.
    4. After about 2 seconds, the gradient stops advancing from right to left, the text is @ 100% opacity and so are the icon images.
    5. This lasts about 6-8 seconds with the information fully visible on the screen.
    6. The process reverses itself, and everything fades out over the same 2 second time period.
An example of exactly what I'm referring to is here (linked to correct timecode just before animation @ 1:12 seconds): Gradient Overlay Animation in Action
Its a very simple animation at its core. I may just be looking around in the wrong places or using the wrong keywords (I'm very new to Adobe overall) so I'm not sure exactly where to start with these kinds of effects. Really, what I need to know is what tools or animation effects do I need to acomplish the gradient portion. I assume the other items are just titles and image keying, but the gradient I haven't figured out.
Also, is this simple enough it can be done in Premiere, or am I better off using AE to accomplish this. Ideally its something I would want to reuse as a preset if possible to use in future videos and I may pretty it up and make it more stylized, but I really just need to figure out how to go about making the gradient animation for now.

I would create a shape layer with a gradient fill. The gradient would have both color and opacity adjustments so that the opacity on the left edge was 0 and on the right was somewhere between 50 and 80.
Then I would add a soft edge linear wipe on my text layer.
Place both layers in their final position and adjust blend modes if necessary to get the look you want.
Parent the text layer to the shape layer
Animate the shape layer position to move it off screen to the right
AE BASICS are the only things used in creating this kind of effect.

  • Re: Exporting Gradient Overlays w/ Transparency

I am currently using photoshop CS5,
I have a layer that is a vector mask over a solid color. The fill of the layer is black, so when i set it to screen it's transparent. I then have a gradient overlay effect applied to the layer that fades from a solid color to a transparency. There is no blending mode applied to the gradient overlay, so it shows up as normal. It looks exactly how i want it to look!
The problem is when i try to flatten this layer, or export this layer as a PNG. The black from the fill shows up where it's supposed to be transparent, even though it's not otherwise visible. If i try to delete the fill all together, and use use a transparent block to overlay my gradient, it won't work, as there is nothing for the gradient to overlay on. If i try to make the gradient using the gradient tool and then using the vector shape layer, it is imprecise, and i know of no way to control how the gradient is applied, other than guessing with the mouse. I have a bunch of these shapes that need to stack and use the exact same gradient alignment, and i need to be able to export them as png's. If i make them in illustrator and port them over to photoshop, there is still an issue with pixels smearing along the edges of my shapes.
Here's an example, the appropriate fading is on the top, but when i flatten or export i get the bottom:
I am using many more shapes some of which are more complicated, and i really want precise control over the gradients.
    Thanks!

    Try a Gradient Fill Layer.

  • How do I Apply a Gradient to an Existing Mask?

I  have a levels layer created from a selection.  Photoshop  uses a mask to protect/exclude the unselected area on the adjustment layer.  Now I need to add a gradient to that same mask.  But, when I try to add the gradient it throws away the original selection mask.  How can I add the gradient such that affects only the selected area?
    I'm using CS4 on Win7 64bit

Grouping the layer with a blank layer and applying the mask and gradient worked.  Thanks.
The other two solutions may well work, but I didn't understand them.  When I tried to use a gradient fill layer it covered the selected area -- that is, it acted as a gradient fill rather than a gradient mask.   Same problem with the gradient overlay, plus I didn't see how to orient the gradient.   Probably my ignorance.

  • Gradient Overlay in Photoshop Elements 8?

Gradient Overlay in Photoshop Elements 8? On the school laptop it has Photoshop elements 8
I want to do a text style with a gradient overlay like here (in the Bubbly text part) :
    http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-612453/tutorialsipanda-/?pg=0
But every time I do gradient it does the background not the text.
How do I use Gradient overlay on the text?

Edit: I was unable to view the text example you linked.
One way you can do this is to use a clipping mask:
Here is a video which shows how to apply a gradient to text using a clipping mask:
    http://www.pxleyes.com/video-tutorial/photoshop-elements/10901/Versatile-Gradient-Text.htm l
Above video is for PSE 6 but the method is the same. She might call it a clipping group instead of clipping group. (Clipping group = clipping mask; Adobe changed the name not the function.)
Note: Hold in the shift key as you pull the gradient to constrain the gradient so it pulls evenly.

  • Gradient overlays?

I'm just trying to figure out how to work within the limitations of the Nile plugin, I know there are bound to be missing features right now.
I'm by no means a Photoshop expert, right now I'm just evaluating the technology.
So I created a rounded rectangle in PS CS3, and gave the layer an effect using a gradient overlay. However, when exported the file for that layer is just a flat color. Is this expected behavior right now, or is it a bug? Is there a supported way of doing gradients? This appeared to be the easiest way to do it in PS.
I had two other layers that came through fine, except for an outer glow which is expected according to the release notes. I was able to see my layers in a running FX script, except for the gradient.

Filter effects and blendings/overlays are not supported in this release. You have to either apply the gradient directly (through the gradient tool) or rasterize the layer.

  • How to Create a consistent Gradient w/ Soft Edge & Filter

Hello, Im using photoshop 6, and Im trying to apply an effect for a banner photo, that will be consistent for other banner photos of the same size.
I've attached a photo of this.
As you can see the gradient (which contains the text) starts with a grey color then transitions to white. The right edge that meets the blue sky isnt a hard edge but rather a soft edge.
Im not sure how to create that soft edge. Someone else had mentioned to use the gradient with colors from grey to white then to transparent to create that soft right edge.  Im not sure how to set that up.
I used a brush in this case, and as you can see, the line is uneven.
Also I believe the Filter used here is Ripple or Ocean Ripple.
I was hoping if someone could walk me through what the correct steps would be to create that effect, so that I can use this consistently for several photos

Oh, I see, PS 6. The parts here about Fill Layers and Layer Styles won't apply, but the editing method is the same:
First, open the Gradient Editor by clicking on the Gradient in the Option Bar or the dialog for a Gradient Fill Layer:
Set up a Gray-to-White Gradient, and add a transparent stop just pas the White stop:
Enter a name, and click on "New" to save it. You can also save as part of a Layer Style with Gradient Overlay.
