How do I put still images inside a video narration?

I'm trying to make my first imovie and I can't find an answer to this anywhere (I've looked on youtube, read books, etc)
I have
-a video of myself talking with my face on it.
-images of things I'm talking about.
I'd like to create a movie that has
1) 10 seconds of me talking on video and then
2) 10 seconds of photos
1) 10 seconds of me talking on video again
2) 10 seconds of photos
* I don't want to lose the audio from the original video throughout the whole presentation. The audio (from the video of my head) should still play even though I'm inserting images onto the screen.
In other words I'd like to cut into the video (of me talking) and show images -- but I also want to go back to my face on screen ever 10 seconds or so.
If you could give me an overall 3rd grade strategy on how to set this up, I would be very grateful.

This is easily done in iMovie and is known as a cutaway. So, use iMovie's Cutaway feature as explained in the following iMovie Help topic:

You can drag your images to the timeline, select all, ctrl-d and set the duration to 3 frames by typing 3 and enter.
Or you can use Quicktime 7 to "open image sequence", select the desired duration, export your animation to quicktime and import that into FCP X for further editing.

I'll assume you want to create a still to use outside FCPX, not a still frame within FCPX. It's kinda hidden in the "share." Go File/Share/Add Destination. You want "Save Current Frame." After you've created that destination, it'll be there for you in the future under Share.

As iMovie doesn't orient after Time - but only after Video/Photo clips is this not so easy to do.
I use black photos as Dummy clips - and put them into a new project first
then I add the Music I want
Then I drop the Video-clip (that I realy want) ontop of the black dummy photo - Where it's supposed to be - THEN IF advanced tools are selected (in iMovie preferences) there will be a Drop-Down menu and here I can select to do a Cutaway - and select not to add the audio from it (or in wave-form just silence it out)

By postcard format do you mean crop the picture into a postcard shape?
If so, here is one way: Activate the Rectangular Marque tool. Set Style to Fixed Aspect Ratio, and enter the dimensions for Width & Height. In this example I used a standard postcard size of 6" x 4.25". Open your picture, draw out the rectangle, and Image > Crop. The picture will now be in the 6 x 4.25 proportion.
To get it to the actual 6" x 4.25" size, do Image > Resize > Image Size. Check the Constrain Proportions Box, and enter either the true Width or Height; the other dimension will change accordingly.
If this is not what you are trying to do, please be more specific.

You could do this in Keynote I am sure.
Create a simple two page Keynote document.
The first slide will have the "INTRO Image" once press this slide can then automatically open up the second slide with a transition automatically.The second slide can hold all the images on the one page and just play over time each image for a set amount of time each before end of time.
I hope that helps some what.

I have CS3 suite and am using Dreamweaver and Flash for a new project. I am working on a website and would like to have small flash movies on several different pages. I would like to know how to get a still image in flash player before the user clicks the movie so that they will not see a black box on the pages before and after they click the movie. Hi, You can go to this test site to see if you have Flash Player Installed on your 10.6.5 Mac.

Flash Player is a browser plugin and as long as your browser is supported by Adobe Flash Player, then you shouldn't have any problem.

QuickTime Player is not itself able to do this. You need a proper DVD authoring solution such as Apple's iDVD.

Hello All,
I am currently working on a site with Spry Tabbed Panels.
One thing I'm not sure how to do is to put an image in each of the selecting tabs. I've done it before and I've forgot. I also have a site with an example of what I would like to do.
