How do I quickly change personas in Firefox 4? There is no longer a link on the "tools" menu

I just upgraded to Firefox 4 and I'm a little disappointed, as it is onerous to change my Firefox persona (no link on Tools menu) *and* there is no longer a "select random person from favourites" option! Will this be changed? Am I missing something (i.e. the options are there butn a new place?)

As far as, ''' "select random person from favourites" ''', that isn't a standard feature in Firefox 4 - it is probably a feature provided by an extension you had installed, that I am not familiar with and can't help you with.

Firefox hangs if I try to open Options in the Tools menu

When I select Options from the Tools menu this hangs Firefox and any tabs that may be open. I have to End the non responding program through Task Manager.
This happens any/everytime I try to access Options.
This only happens on my laptop, not my PC. It works fine on my PC. I am on Firefox 6.0.2

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Why are you using an old Firefox 4.0 beta 4 version (latest is [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html 4.0b6]) ?
Such version are meant for testing purposes by experienced users who know how to deal with issues and not for daily use.
You should stick with the official release (currently 3.6.10).<br />

But you solved my question anyhow!
I looked at the Input Sources and I noticed that there's a keyboard shortcut for changing writing direction! cmd+crtl+left arrow (or right arrow for left-to-right) will do the trick.

You can probably do that by installing a persona and replace the two file lightweighttheme-header and lightweighttheme-footer with your persona files.<br />
Otherwise you need the Personas Plus extension.

Remember any restoring of bookmarks overwrites whatever he current set is, and you may not want to loose them.
Even if up until now you have not made any backups of Desktop bookmarks Firefox will have backed up some of them into sets of daily bookmark backups. Once you have backed up your current set you could look at what it has by restoring those bookmarks, you may find one of those sets is fairly complete.
By the way if you look at the profile files and folders that you should now have on the desktop you should see it contains a bookmarks backup folder, the size of the files within should indicate whether they contain anything.
You need to go into the bookmarks library and try the restore option. Backup each set that you look at if it has anything of use in it, before trying the next set. With look one of those will be a fairly complete set of bookmarks.

I do not use Firefox on mobiles, but before you try anything further you do need to backup the desktop bookmarks and learn what existing backups you have. Unless you master that you are in continual danger of overwriting and loosing bookmarks.

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
- Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

The first question I asked was how to disable the pop-up window feature. I cannot uncheck the block box in the control panel!! There was a red box around this option and when I tried to uncheck this option, nothing happened.

The Menu Bar is hidden by default in Windows 7. Please read this article to show it:

Once you select to show it, you should see the Tool option, then go to Options > Content and you can disable the pop-up window by CHECK it.

Rather than go to the home page I have specified in the General tab of Options in the Tools menu, Firefox keeps going to a truncated version of this url.

Several months ago, malware of some sort replaced this url with one of their own. I got rid of the malware and put back my original home page, but I'm continuing have a problem: Every time firefox goes to my home page, rather than using the whole url that I've specified, firefox truncates this url to just the first 87 characters, and goes to this truncated url instead:

Not only is this not the url that I have specified in the General tab under Options in the Tools menu, I always get an error message in an additional tab whenever Firefox goes to this truncated version of my home page. You need to escape the pipe character as %7c if you want to include it in the URL

I'm trying to figure out why Firefox has no spellcheck. I suspect it needs dictionaries installed, but it's a bit of a mystery. I had to reste FF as it kept crashing after I updated to V31.0

Yes Options is for Windows.
On Mac you use "Firefox > Preferences" or the Preferences button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list.
You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.
*Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
*Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.
You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

How to delete ADD-INS listing in the "Tools menu

I deleted a couple of "ADD-Ins" I didn't need anymore "CalcTax" and "cTax"
stored in this directory: "C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns"
The mistake I made is that they where active and now I can't delete the two menu listed in the "Tools Menu".
I tried to redo the Add-Ins but it doesn't work.
I ran the "Remove Control macro" below but no success.
I checked the Registry for the two Add-Ins but found nothing.
Below is one of the two Add-Ins macro but not the original one. I deleted them.
and "No Backup"
Does anyone know how I can remove the two entries in the "Tools menu.

To remove any item from the menus...
Right-click in the menubar area and choose Customize (a dialog box is displayed).
Drag the unwanted menu item off of the menu and drop it over the worksheet.
Close the dialog box.

Hi lenm,
To extract pages, you need to use Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). As I can attest (because I do have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same computer), it is quite easy to open files in Reader when you mean to open then in Acrobat. So, please make sure you have the right app open. (I pull this one all the time!)
Now, if the Tools menu is missing from Acrobat, choose View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Show Toolbars to make them reappear.
