How do I quickly change writing direction in mail without going trough 7 different menu options?
Is there a quick keyboard shortcut, or maybe an icon I can add to the mail bar?

But you solved my question anyhow!
I looked at the Input Sources and I noticed that there's a keyboard shortcut for changing writing direction! cmd+crtl+left arrow (or right arrow for left-to-right) will do the trick.

I'm trying to do the same...no problem choosing the color, but when I used an advanced rule, I no longer have the option in a drop down menu to "erase junk mail". Seems like any combination of an advanced junk mail rule wipes out the option to erase junk mail, and I don't want mail to automatically delete my junk email. My v-card (My Card) information has 3 e-mail addresses. My work e-mail address is the default used whenever I use autofill on a web page. I am trying to change the default e-mail within my contact to my home e-mail address but there is no information that I can find to do this.

Understand. I am in the edit mode for my contact. I see all the contact info. There is no right click or other means to change the DEFAULT address that autofill uses (it also is first to appear if I type my name in an e-mail). For instance for a group e-mail you can change the default addresses of each contact by control-clicking on the group in Address Book. I can't seem to make the default change in my v-card.

How can I quickly change Siris language?

I would like to use Siri both in German (mostly if i want to write to or call somebody in germany - she doesn't understand german names) and English.
Obviously, the language can be changed in settings, but that's a rather long and awkward process if I only want to quickly have her call somebody. Is it possible to change her language using a specific command (like "change language to German")? I wasn't able to find anything of the like, and I think there is no setting to always use her bilingually (or is there?).
I'd be thankful for any help on this matter :)

Siri should understand either language out of the box. This doesn't specifically state that you have to change the country or region in it, but I made some type bold at the bottom, that may infer that you have to that.
EDIT - I just asked Siri if she spoke Spanish - as a test. She told me that she speaks ...... And then she told me to change the languages in the settings. So - I do not see any shortcut to quickly switch between languages.

How do I quickly change personas in Firefox 4? There is no longer a link on the "tools" menu

I just upgraded to Firefox 4 and I'm a little disappointed, as it is onerous to change my Firefox persona (no link on Tools menu) *and* there is no longer a "select random person from favourites" option! Will this be changed? Am I missing something (i.e. the options are there butn a new place?)

How do I quickly find a particular mailbox?

I have a couple hundred mailboxes imported into Mail from Eudora. Mail comes into Inbox, and I want to view it there and then manually transfer it to its appropriate mailbox.
In Eudora I could display all active mailboxes in a window, do a quick search, and find the mailbox. Alternatively, I could selectively display frequently used mailboxes (current projects) in a column at the edge of the screen and then just drag from the inbox to the appropriate mailbox label.
So easy!
How do I quickly find a mailbox in Mail? If I do a search on a mailbox name I get lots of messages across ALL mailboxes, some of which may be in the mailbox I'm looking for. I can then click on that message, right-click on the title bar on the window to display the mailbox in a new window, and then drag from the Inbox window to the mailbox window.
A simpler way, I've found, is to use the Help window in the menubar. Typing in a mailbox name there displays the Move to [mailbox name]command which is then immediately executed. Great if I remember the name of the mailbox and great if I want to move a message to the mailbox and not jumst open the mailbox itself (which is often what I want to do).
So, is there a quick way of just finding a mailbox without scrolling through the entire list either from the dropdown menu or in the sidebar?

On a Mac, the Command-L key combination takes you to the currently playing track, so on Windows I assume it is CTRL-L. Try it and let us know.

Hi all,
Completely new to the forums and I hopefully my query is straight forward. How do you change the direction in the pre-built tween effects available within Flash CS3 (primarily the Wipe effect). Example code:

OR

Sorry for posting something so pointless!
You simply add 'startPoint:5' onto the end i.e.
var Animate_Box_2:Object = {type:Wipe, direction:Transition.IN, duration:1, easing:Strong.easeInOut, startPoint:5'};
TransitionManager.start(Box_2, Animate_Box_2);
startPoint:5' = can be any number depending on the direction of the Wipe you want.

What you really want is a way of automatically mirroring the the X and/or Y coordinates of the keyframes within the effect. This ability would be very useful.
But right now there's no way to do that. You'd have to do it manually. That effect actually uses the Slide parameter to generate the movement (instead of a discreet X/Y coordinate for the position.) Changing the first keyframe value of the Slide parameter to a negative number still doesn't give the effect I think you're looking for.
So, it's probably easier to just rebuild the effect the way you want it from scratch.

In Pages: How to change text direction in cell?

in Pages, I'd like to change the direction of the text in a table I'm creating.
In the first column (one long column -- I've merged the cells) the work is reading left to right. How do I make it read up and down?

Here's what I found:
Insert a text box from the INSERT menu.... it's also available at the FORMAT menu, but I chose Insert.
Don't drag yet!
place cursor and type your text.
Then, click on the METRICS menu in the Inspector pane
Rotate. Getting exactly to 90 degrees was difficult. Maybe because I called it 90% at first!
Now you can drag.
It might look better to spread out the letter spacing in the text you have entered. Do that from the "text" tab in the Inspector pane.
if you double click, or even click too much, the text box will jump back into a horizontal position -- Dont' worry, it's trying to let you edit.
just go back to "Metric" and change it back to 90 degrees.

suppose your string is "abc" and you want to display that reversed:
1. reverse the string
2. find where your start point is (where you're going to draw 'a'
3. Use FontMetrics to calculate the offset from the start point you need to make to print the string where it should be

To reproduce the problem create TLFText on your scene with text tool and name it "MyText" then

Why does Mail crash when I change the writing direction selection to Right to Left?

Every time I select Hebrew or Arabic text I am currently typing in order to change its writing direction (in order to get the cursor to appear to the left side of the sentence) to Right to Left, Mail crashes. This is obviously a bug in the program, and seriously needs to be fixed ASAP. I have no problem changing the alignment to the right side, but changing the cursor position causes the crash. Has anyone been able to solve this in the meantime?

I have not seen anyone else reporting this problem since 10.8 was released last July, and I cannot duplicate it myself. So it is more likely some issue with your setup than a bug, but further testing is needed to be sure one way or the other.
Could you provide more info on exactly what you are doing when this occurs? Are you typing mixed English/Arabic text? Are you using the Format menu to switch direction or a keyboard shortcut? Are you trying to use Arabic fonts not provided with OS X? A screen shot of what it looks like just before you crash would be helpful (use the camera icon here to upload that).
