How do I re-direct all my songs' location?

Hi guys,
Originally I placed all my songs at my F drive, F:\music. But my laptop encounters some problem few days ago, so I just recovered my C drive.
After recovery, the system automatically changed the hard drive names that my F: drive becomes D: drive now. In another words, all my songs are at D:\music rather than original F:\music.
Therefore, iTunes now can't find the correct locations and show exclamation mark in front of each song. I tried to edit Library.xml and replace all F: with D:, but it did't work. Is there any other way that I could solve this problem without re-drag all the songs into the library? In this case all the previous information would be gone, such as rating and play count.
Thank you very much!

You could simply delete all music in your iTunes library, then re-add it all in its 'new' location on your D:\ drive.
Make sure you don't accidentally delete anything permanently, though; that could make things significantly more complicated.

You did not make a backup of your computer before you erased it?

  • I have unchecked the "Sync Music" option in iTunes, and so I assumed that meant there would zero songs synced to my iPhone. Howver, there are still 223 random songs on my phone. How do I actually remove all the songs?

As you can see, in this photo I have the "Sync Music" button unchecked and yet when I sync my phone (in the hopes that I will be getting rid of all the songs) there are still 223 songs left on my phone, taking up space that I need.
How do I truly get rid of these songs, or is this just a weird glitch? I would have assumed that by unchecking "Sync Music" that meant there would be no more MUSIC left on my phone, but that is not the case.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello amyb3213,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If I understand your post correctly, you are wondering why you still have songs on your iPhone even though you have disabled music syncing in iTunes.  After disabling syncing, did you press sync to then apply those sync settings?  Are the songs on your iPhone ones that you have downloaded from iTunes in the Cloud?
You can manually delete songs from your iPhone by following the steps below.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • How do I batch download all my songs from iCloud to my iMac?

The hard drive I was using to keep all my songs is fried, but everything is backed up via iTunes Match.
I want to be download all my songs (30,000+) to a new hard drive so I can play them on my SONOS.
How can I do this without having to click every individual song?
    Using iTunes 11.3 (54) 64 Bit
    OSX Mavericks 10.9.4

    Hi,
Each track should have a download icon. If no icon is shown, this suggest that your library is still pointing to the original track. If you try to play a track do you see " ! " against the track. If so, you have two options:
    1. Select track and right click then delete - do not tick delete from cloud. Download icon now shown.
    2. Create new library, point to location you wish to download then turn on match. You will see all music you have in match.
By the way, it would be easier and quicker to restore your music from your back up.

  • HOW TO RESTORE THE DIRECT TRANSFER OF SONGS TO MY MUSIC FOLDER

Desktop with Windows XP, Professional Version and Service Pack 3. Since March 2, 2015, the browser is Firefox with Google.
Prior to that I used Firefox Portable Edition. Our public library offers a music download service from a company named Freegal.
The process is to click on download on an individual song which produces a popup which I click on Save. This produces a second popup which allows me to transfer the song to a selected folder in MY Music. This routine worked quite well with Firefox Portable Edition. However, after I recently installed Firefox, the second popup which would be used to transfer the song to My Music does not appear and this is the end of the routine with Freegal. Firefox sends the downloaded song to two locations in my computer which are D: My Documents\Downloads and to C: Documents and Settings\Administration\Recent. I have two hard drives in use on this computer because of its limited memory. I then copy and paste the song from D: Documents \ Downloads to the selected folder in My Music.
The library has no recent reported problems with Freegal. I am assuming that the recent download of Firefox is its latest edition and I must say that it is a very fast browser. It is more convenient to transfer the song to My Music as was intended by Freegal than the route that I have to use as described above.
I would appreciate any comments on why this is happening given that Firefox Portable Edition did not have this problem.
Any suggestions on how to restore this function in Freegal would also be appreciated.
Thank you for considering this post.

You should have an option to select where downloads go.
    * See [[Startup, home page and download settings#w_downloads]]_downloads
    * Use: Firefox button {Three bar icon) -> Preferences -> |General| Downloads () choose a location, or always ask
Sorry I have no knowledge about Freegal.
(There is another workaround possible, using another, 2nd, additional profile for music downloads)

  • My home PC crashed taking over 100 songs with it, my work laptop had everything but those 100 songs, that system is now at home...how do i re-load all those songs that i have already paid for, is there a way to get them back?

My home computer system and work laptop shared an iTunes account, the home system crashed and took 125 or so songs with it that weren't on the work machine...work machine is now my home system but how do I retrieve those 125 songs?  Calvin

I agree with whereitis above, I hate it when options are removed (ex: the Bookmarks side panel (Ctrl-B) button missing) etc.. Firefox's major BOLD one-liner is: CUSTIMAZATION. Now to regain this CUSTIMAZATION freedom, Firefox suggest to solve this by installing the ADDON "Classic Theme Restorer". I don't want to install any ADDON to customize Firefox! I went with Firefox because it was CUSTOMIZABLE, and that is the only reason why I went with this web browser! Now, Firefox is asking me to add an ADDON to CUSTOMIZE it. What is this?!

  • Can someone tell me in simple terms how to backup or save all your songs-

on itunes-i tried to save it on a cd disc and the disc only copy 20 songs. I have almost 1700 songs on my ipod. I won't have to put my 1700 song on over 30 disc's will I?

    Other options:
    http://www.uneasysilence.com/how-to-backup-your-windows-itunes/
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/backup/
It would likely take too many CD's. Do you have a DVD burner?

  • HT4913 How do you then download all the songs from icloud to itunes? I have over 2000 songs and don't fancy clicking one at a time..

    as above.
Thanks for all the help in advance!

On your PC, create a playlist called something like "Touch"
Add everything you want to download to your touch to the playlist.
Wait a minute or two and then open the music App on your touch.
Find the playlist and scroll to the bottom.
    Click "Download All"

  • How to make a directly usable Bluetooth network location

I've configured a Bluetooth modem to use as a modem to
connect to the Internet. I've defined the secured pairing
between my Mac and my mobile.
I've defined a network location to connect through Bluetooth
    with my mobile phone.
Everything is working correctly in three steps:
    1. switch to the Bluetooth network location,
    2. turn Bluetooth on in the menu bar,
    3. select Connect in the phone drop down menu (in the menu
    bar).
What is the simplest way to make all this process a one step
    one:
    1. switch to the Bluetooth network location ?
On the other hand, when I have to leave this connection,
everything is working correctly, except that the Bluetooth
connection stays up. Hence I have to turn Bluetooth off
in the menu bar. Otherwise there is a serious useless

What is the simplest way to make the switching to another

    Please help
Songs that you purchase from the iTunes Store are simply files.  They only sit on the computer where you purchase them, until you copy them to another computer.
That is how it works.  There is no web site where you can play all your files.  It's primitive I know, but there may be changes coming.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  us eyour backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases.
In the U.S you can use icloud.  Open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links.
