How do I re-download apps that I deleted but did not purchase?
Is there anyway for me to re-download apps that I once deleted but I did not purchase? I've seen help for those who purchased apps, you go to the 'purchased' area in the App Store, but that didn't work for me because I didn't buy them.
How did you get the games if you didn't pay for them? Even the free apps in the app store go through the purchasing process and are tied to your Apple ID. If you paid for them you are still able to log into the app store using your Apple ID which they were purchased with and download them again.
If you received a used device or one as a gift the apps may be tied to someone else's Apple ID and still need the password for that account to install and run them.

If you restored your device from a backup of the iPhone 4, it should be in the Messages app, unless you deleted the message. If you deleted the message, then it is gone.

If you have a recent iCloud backup that was done when that message was on the devcie, you can restore from that backup.
No, Apple does not keep your messages, no do they have access to them. That would be a serious invasion of privacy, don't you think?

I updated my iPad 3 with the new iOS and now most of my apps are waiting but not downloading. I tried turning it off, signing in and out but nothing works. Please help
If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again. -

I mistakenly deleted my iBooks app and can not reinstall. Why?
I have tried the soft resets with no success. I don't see a cloud and when i access the app at the app store or when i go to my account and review already purchased items it shows that the IBOOKs has already been installed.

Turn your iDevice off the back on (or you can alternatively reset it)
Make sure you are connected to a wi-fi network
Try and download an app and see if it says 'waiting' (if it does go to step 4)
Go into the App Store app on your iDevice and see if you are currently downloading anything
Then Open up the iTunes app on your iDevice, go to 'More', the 'Downloads' and see if anything is there
If there is download it and if you don't want it you can delete it afterwards (you can't delete it while it is downloading
Go back onto your home screen and your app should be downloading -
