How do i re-install MAIL ????

Heres the issue
Macbook still has Mail Icon
Mac Mini mail Icon is missing
Cant find Disk
sent out an inquery on MacForums and was told to look for a file called com.mail.plist
It does not exist on Mac Mini
File Sharing WORKS on MacBook but not on Mac Mini
so i open up file sharing on Macbook and try to push com.mail,plist file over to Mac Mini or in other words i am working with the macbook to get the file over to the other computer

Are you talking about the icon on the dock is missing or are you talking about the icon in the Applications folder is missing? If the first, in Finder, navigate to your hard drive's Applications folder, find Mail, and drag the Mail icon back into the dock.
If the second, then you have somehow managed to move or delete the application. First, search for Mail.app (Finder menu bar > File > Find) and if not found, I don't know where you live but in the US, you used to be able to buy the Snow Leopard upgrade for $30. On the disk, there is an optional installs folder with installer inside. Launching that, you can pick and choose applications to install/reinstall, Mail being one of them. Then you need to reinstall the OS 10.6.6 updater (support.apple.com/kb/dl1349) and after that, run software update from the  menu.
I'm not sure what you said about file sharing, but whatever computer you are trying to access from the other needs to have system preferences > sharing > file sharing turned on. However, that doesn't come into play with the stuff I wrote in the previous two paragraphs.

My mail program stopped taking in mail (of any kind)
but I can send mail ..... and get to the internet with safari,
the app finally crashes after awhile of looking for mail.
I did the connection doctor and activity viewer thing.
Checked with my service provider and they say my mail is there ....
and was able to access my mail thru "webmail",
(a web based email checker that's a feature of our server)
so password and username stuff all works ......
maybe some pref is corrupted?
I can only think my next step is to re install "Mail".

problem solved!
using webmail and activity viewer
i saw where it was hanging ...
and went in, did a search, then deleted a few emails.
one was 6.8 MB, not all that huge but,
everything started working again.

My mail application is completely screwed up: it re-sends old messages to people and it's becoming a HUGE problem. It's completely random but it happens at least once a day. I'm also having trouble with attachments -- i often can't open them (even though it's just a file or something).

The easiest way is to use a program called "Pacifist." It allows individual packages to be installed. Just Google the program name and mac and download it. ($20 shareware and totally worth it)
Use your original OSX 10.4 install disk and run pacifist and re-install the mail package using Pacifist. Download any updates (ie: OS X 10.4.5 combined) and repeat the process with the updated mail application included in the combination package.
You will now have a fresh, current install of mail.

Upon doing that I have downloaded the Combo Updater for my current version of Snow Leopard extracted the mail.app from there and selected update when prompted instead of replace. >>>Note I have selected replace when update didnt work>>>> however neither way of going about this work and I continue to get errors when i try and open mail.app Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you. I solved my problem by using OPEN DNS, which gave me instructions as follows:
Apple menu;
System Preferences;
Click Network;
Select 1st connection (that I simply deleted--127.something);
Click Advanced;
Select DNS tab;
Add the OPENDNS IP addresses using the + sign at bottom (208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222);
Click Apply.

I managed to corrupt my Mail installation, by doing an incredibly stupid folder permissions typo
in the Shell command prompt.
I managed to salvage nearly everything from a backup drive image, but Mail has borked.
If I run it, it fails to open a window, and the process must then be forced to Quit.
I use yahoo mail
so it was easy enough to switch to 3rd party app and continue for now
but I'd like to fix Mail if I could.
Any suggestions? I guess that Mail is inextricably entwined with the OS and doesn't have an obvious specific installer.

No, you will not need to copy/port over any files of yours. They stay untouched. All you will do with this method is to reinstall the actual Mac OS over the top of what you have. It will fill in the blanks so to speak.
Since Mail is an integral and built in part of the OS, this is about the only method to do this now with the new download-only delivery method for the OS (or apps). It is actually quite painless, I've done it several times. The only thing you lose is the time wasted waiting for the download and install (if you don't have the fastest connection).

You cannot. Run it on the device to see if it works.

My father has PowerBook G4 with with Mac OS 10.5.8, and he has deleted his Mail application by mistake. I have tried to install it from Leopard installation DVD, but there is only Mail 3.0, that can not work with 10.5.8. I have tried also to update it, but updater doesn't seem to do anything with this, and its very strange...

After clicking on the Optional install package of the DVD, you will find Mail within the Applications choice.
Click on the triangle next to Applications to reveal those contents. Then just select Mail only and press continue.

Restore from your Time Machine backup to get the app and messages back. If you have not been backing up then you have lost all of your email's. You can use Pacifist to re-install the Mail App though, you can find Pacifist at:

In the email you want to print, on the top right there is an arrow. Click that and an option should appear that says print. That should work. Have you already tried that?

I upgraded 10.4 to 10.5 and mail services did not fare well so I want to re-install mail services as if it was a new 10.5 install. By now I have web services, etc. running nicely so I don't want to start with a total fresh install if it can be helped.
I only have a few users and small maillist on this domain so I figured a start from scratch is really the easiest, if it can be done.
Basically smtp doesn't want to allow incoming and maillist won't start. Have tried too many things to remember so I figure it's back to square one and if a total re-install is needed, well, so be it but thought I'd check first re just a re-install of mail services.
