iTunes does not store your library on their servers.
You are responsible for backing up your content.
However, You can redownload some iTunes purchases:

Old hard drive crashed, how do I re-install my music from iPod to new drive
My hard drive crashed and I received a new hard drive from Dell. Reinstalled most applications, however, prior to downloading iTunes - how do I ensure that the songs I purchased, playlists, and other songs I added from CD's are available?
I also have other users - with iPods, and they had (and have reestablished user accounts) their own iPods and music libraries. I want to be sure their music is transferred as well.
I do have access to all iTunes music file for each user from the damaged drive. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive -
How do i stop my iPhone iTunes from Shuffling songs?
I cannot figure out how to stop my iPhone Music/iTunes from shuffling songs but instead to play them in order.
In the Music app, tap the screen to bring up an extra menu bar showing the current song's timeline. In the lower right is a pair of crossed arrows -- when enabled (blue), shuffle is on, tap it to turn shuffle off (gray).
Edited to add: That's when you've got the album cover image up, if you're on the track listing, tap the upper-right corner to bring it back to cover art view. The other two indicators/buttons on the bottom of the same bar are "repeat" (bottom left) to repeat the current track or playlist (two options), and "genius" (bottom center) to generate playlists of songs similar to the one currently playing. -
How do I get my old iTunes library onto my new laptop? My old laptop is broken but all media is on my phone. Most of the songs are from CD's which I no longer have. HELP!
That is not necessarily true. You are allowed to make a back-up of media you own and, at least in the Netherlands, even a copy of a work you've borrowed from a library. The law expressly permits this and you pay a certain amount for recordable media to allow for home use. See http://www.thuiskopie.nl/nl for this. If you then decide to destroy the media, i.e. do not transfer the media to someone else, I don't see how you infringe copyright by keeping the back-up. But I guess some so-called creatives like the idea of making money in all kinds of hypothetical ways...
It is a nice dream, where you have to work once and then earn a lot of money by selling millions of copies from your work. But buyers can make copies too!! Hahahahahaha! -
I'd like to transfer all of my songs from iTunes from my old laptop (windows) to a newer laptop (mac). Is it possible to do this? If so, how?

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347 -

how do i connect and open itunes from my computer
Organize the library from within iTunes, right-click any song, show it in the Windows Explorer, quit iTunes, go into the Windows Explorer, navigate up to the iTunes folder, drag that to the external drive, launch iTunes with the Shift key hald down, and point it to that instance of the library.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.
What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.
When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
Good luck & happy computing! -

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -
Copying itunes music from old to new Windows PC
Hi,
I currently have iTunes installed on my laptop, the iTunes config files are in the default directory on the C:\ however the actual music files and folders are on an external USB drive.
I have just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 6400 and want to transfer my iTunes onto this new laptop. I assume I have to install iTunes onto the new laptop but after that I have no idea.
1. What are the steps to copy over my iTunes from old to new laptop?
2. Will it keep the playlist and folder structure on the new laptop that is already setup on old laptop?
Cheers Col.
Dell Laptop Windows 2000 iTunes 6.0.4.2If you download a program called ephPod you will be able to copy all the songs from your iPod to a folder of your choice on your new computer. Its free as well, which is always good.
once downloaded, connect your ipod to your new computer and ephPod will load up all the songs on it. if you click on songs at the top (as in, sort by songs), then select all and copy to directory it will ask u to select a folder on the computer to copy the songs to. then just simply press ok and it shold work. any photos can be copied by going into your iPod via My Computer and just clicking on iPod -> Photos. good luck!

Keep your perspective!!
You have to keep this whole thing in a proper perspective. Apple has a nasty habit of making a change in their line exactly on month (29-30 days) after I buy their latest issue. They did this after I bought my mini-tower G3, my iMac G4 and now this.
