How do I read an ibook on a windows pc?

You can't unless the book is one of the public domain books from Project Gutenberg and hence has no copy protection. Commercial iBooks can be read only on iOS devices.

  • How can I read my Ibooks saved on an Ipad on a PC with windows 7??

    Hi,
How can I read information saved on IBooks on an Ipad on to a PC with Windows 7? How can the devices (PC and IPad) be synchronised, in a similar manner to the way emails are linked?

  • How do I read an iBook on my computer? Adobe Digital doesn't cut it

Clicking on the iBook in iTunes doesn't work. If I use Spotlight, I can see the .epub version of it. Clicking on that in the Finder opens Adobe Digital Editions with blank text screen.
Can see the ToC in sidebar. That's it.
This is way too many procedures to read a book.

Books purchased via the iTunes bookstore are encumbered with Apple's DRM.
Apple don't make a reader application for DRM'd .epub books that runs on a Mac (or a PC either).
They are meant to be read on an iOS device, as should be clear from the terms and conditions.

  • How to set Reader to open in new window

I have .pdf documents into which I have inserted links to other .pdf documents using pdfEdit995 (I am a 77-year-old recording monumental inscriptions, not very computer literate and not able to afford expensive applications !)
    The links look like :-
    [ /Rect [85 225 107 228]
    /Border [ 0 0 0 ]
    /Action /Launch /File (.\\Another Folder\\TARGET FILE.PDF)
    /Subtype /Link
    /ANN pdfmark
The links work fine, but open in the same window, which is annoying as it is then neccessry to re-open the original document before moving to the next link.
pdf995 support say that perhaps Adobe reader can be set to open in a new window, but I want this to be the default when I circulate my file to intersted people, so would prefer to modify the links.
Can anyone help with a smple solution ? (I also believe in Santa Claus !)

No part of this question appears to involve GoLive. You should be asking this in a pdf995 forum, or at the very least, an Acrobat/Reader forum here.

  • I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  My iBook library does not show up in iTunes.

I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  Some of my iBooks show up in my iTunes but they are "grayed" out.  The only books that respond in iTunes are audiobooks and that's not what I'm looking for.  Is this a stupid question?

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro.  If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook.  Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad.  Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

  • How to transfer files from iBook to reader?

How to transfer files from iBook to reader

The first step is to export the PDF from iBooks to your computer (this cannot be one on your iPad or iPhone). Connect your iPad or iPhone to your syncing computer. Open iTunes. Select your device (how to do this depends on which version of iTunes you are running). Click on the Books tab at the top. In the current version of iTunes 11, I had to choose to view by PDFs. Then I could drag a PDF from the iTunes window to my Desktop.
Then follow the instructions in this document to import the PDF(s) into Adobe Reader:
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2532
Not so easy, I'm afraid. Easier if you just keep copies of your PDFs on your computer.

  • How can I read books purchased from iBooks on my Mac?

I'm completely new to the whole Apple world and have ran across this issue.  How can I read books, that I've purchased through iBooks on my iPad or iPhone, on my Mac?  Surely this is possible, but I just can figure out how Apple intends for us to do this.
If someone could please help me out with this information I would appreciate it.

Or I can just purchase them from a competitor such as Kindle and read them on my Mac
Sure seems short sighted on Apple's part not to have this functionality.  This will drive my purchasing decisions to Kindle.
I'm sure that there has been plenty of negative feedback already directed to Apple for this decision.  Does anyone know whether or not they have listened and if they have any plans to correct this issue?

  • How can i read ibooks on my mac?

how can I read Ibooks books on my mac?

I work in a high tech company (not in IT) and as a sideline I fix close friends and family's PCs and Macs, usually remotely over Logmein.  The reason I switched to Macs over the past  four years is that most of my friends and family that have switched from PCs to Macs require little or no support.  So I am an Apple fan boy by my experiences and not just for the sake of being a fan.  It just makes practical sense.
Which leads me to the point.  I am also an Apple stock holder.  So I prefer to buy a book on the Apple Store rather than the Amazon store even though I realize my recent purchase of an iBook at $13.99 is of no consequence to Apple's bottom line.
In that light, I would of course like to be able to read my iBooks on my MacBook Air or the PCs and Macs I use at work.
    It just makes practical sense.

  • How to convert kindle files to read on iBook

I would like to read a book from Kindle on iBook on my iPad.  Does anyone know how to convert a Kindle book file for reading using iBook?

Pogo is correct.  The cloud for your kindle books maintained by amazon is good for multiple devices and can be accessed by the kindle reader on the app store.  Pretty easy instructions on setup are included.

  • How do I read a downloaded iBook in iTunes?

My newspaper (Daily Telegraph) offers subscribers a free iBook download each week.
This weekend I succumbed and installed the required iTunes on my PC,  created an iD, and downloaded the latest book.
I can see the book catalogued in iTunes, but for the life of me I can't find how to actually read it?
Having been in the IT industry for almost half a century, I am not exactly a newbie (though I may be going senile) - but this really isn't intutive. (I have even checked with Her Indoors to see if I was looking for something too complex!).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Abberley,
The iBooks from iTunes can only be read on iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad.  They cannot be read on a PC or Mac.

  • I am reading in ibooks and i do not see how many pages there are or what page i am on. how do i fix this

i am reading in ibooks and i do not see how many pages there are or what page i am on. how do i fix this

Some books may not display a page number on each page, or the position indicator, because the author did not include them.
Most basic books resembling paperbacks that are mostly words (like Kindle books) will display these because they are so basic
that iBooks knows they need to have that information superimposed, so it just does it.
For more advanced books, the people who made the book may elect to not display page numbers for some or all of the pages.
What book are you reading, and have you looked at another book and had the same problem?

  • How do I read ibooks on my macbook?

I have an ipad and usually read my ibooks on that, but it was left at work on Friday but I want to continue reading over the weekend.  I cannot seem to read the book from my macbook.  How does one read ebooks that have been purchased legally on macbooks?

Sorry but you can't, you need an iOS device for that (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch) since it requires the iBooks app.

My app is stuck on one page of the ibook I was reading. How do I close the ibook and get back to the main library?

A number of extensions can cause that problem, you'll need to do a little troubleshooting to find out which extension is causing that to happen for you.

  • How can I get the iBook app on my Mac to backup ePubs I created with Pages on my iPad? Only seems to want to work with purchased from the ibook store.

How can I get the iBook app on my Mac to backup ePubs I created with Pages on my iPad? Only seems to want to work with purchased books from the ibook store. The problem is, once I create a document in Pages and turn it into an ePub to be opened in iBooks, I delete the document in Pages, because I don't need two copies taking up space on my iPad. Before Maverick, iTunes would backup everything in my iBook app on my iPad. If something ever happened to my iPad, all of my created ePubs would be lost and I would be screwed. I suppose I could keep everything on Pages and go to iCloud and download my documents to my Mac, but that is a lot of steps. I may have to do that if there is no other way, but I am hoping someone will have the answer for me. Pretty disappointed in iBooks app for Mac at this point.

iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.
