How do I reattach missing AI files using a PDF document

I am converting an InDesign document to ePub and mobi. The document also exists as a PDF file (which, as you may know, can not be converted effectively to ePub).
The InDesign file has been supplied to me with missing .ai links for charts and graphs. There are lo-res images in their places.
I could manually import individual charts from the PDF file into Illustrator, but there are dozens of them and relinking will be a huge job as it is. Any suggestions on how to transform all charts and graphs in the PDF file to .ai files OR import them directly into InDesign?

You print to the Adobe PDF printer. AA X was substantially modified to meet the newer needs of OFFICE 2007 and 2010, making PDF Maker incompatible with OFFICE 2003. You should still be able to print just fine, but the features you may want will not be available unless you upgrade MS too.

Hmm. What I would do then is start a new InDesign document and first place the template. Put it on its own layer. Then start placing things over the template, sizing carefully; adding text captions and blocks until it is done.
If it is a set of guides, not for printing, you could then hide the template layer.
If you have made text in Photoshop, be very wary, the chances of illegible text is very high indeed.

I had a corrupt external HDD which i used to use with an old laptop. I used data recovery software and managed to recover 33gb of data. However it is saved in the old diskdoubler format. (.dd file extension). How do I open a .dd file using OS X? ive tried stuffit and unarchiver but they dont work. any help?

Well my acquisition code runs perfect. The problem is reading it. I can't seem to read my data no matter what I do. My data gets saved as a string using the array to string vi but I've read that the string to array vi (which I need to convert back to array to read my data) does not work on the pda. I'm using version 8.0. So I was trying to modify the program posted in this discussion so that it would save data from my DAQ. I did that but I still can't read the data after its saved. I really don't know what else to do. All I need to do is read the data on the pda itself. I can't understand why I'm having such a hard time doing that. I found a possible solution on another discussion that talks about parsing the strings because of the bug in the "string to array" vi. However, that lead me to another problem because for some reason, the array indicators or graphs don't function on the pda. When i build the program to the pda or emulator, the array indicators are faded out on the front panel as if the function is not valid. Does this kind of help give a better picture of what I'm trying to do. Simply read data back. Thanks.

Happy to help! If you've already combined a file using Adobe PDF Pack, you can open that combined file in the free Adobe Reader (or in Acrobat, if you have that). But, it sounds like you don't have either one installed, so that would be the best place to start. You can download the free Reader from www.adobe.com/products/reader.html. Or, if you want to try Acrobat free for 30 days, you can download that from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html. Either one will let you view PDF files.
Some notes:
You'll need Acrobat if you want to have some control over where new pages are inserted into an existing file. It lets you decide whether the new pages are inserted before or after a specific page. For example, if you have a 12-page document, you could choose to insert the new pages at the beginning, the end, or anywhere in between. (CombinePDF lets you determine the order in which files are combined, but not with that granularity.)
Reader doesn't allow you to insert one file into another, so your workflow with Reader would be to use Combine PDF on Acrobat.com. You'd select both the previously combined file and the new file, give the combined file and name, and then click Combine. Then, you could view the combined file in Reader.

I am actually interested in extract the page and create a new PDF with that page. But still there is a catch that on which basis the page needs to extract either on PAGE number OR on Bookmark basis.
But here in this scenario assume I am looking for the PDF file, now I want to save only page 5. How can I extract page 5 automatically/programmatuically? Or in simple word how can I get the reference link of page 5?
Here I am not getting clear picture that Do I need both SDK Adobe & Acrobat to achieve this requirement. And more over you have mentioned that SDK itself is free. But on Adobe side it is mentioned that it is available by license only with this I have another doubt: To work my desktop/system application with Adobe PDF library, this library needs to distribute with the application. So in this case will it be chargeable for each and every deployment.

Hi Tim,
That isn't a supported feature. If the PDF is unsecured and you have the legal rights to extract the audio, it would be possible to locate and decompress the raw file data from the PDF file using third-party tools to read the low-level file structure (a hex editor or Cos editor) - but Acrobat can't help you.

Thanks for your replies..I think i almost find the solution. I found 2 options to do this. They are :
1. Get Adobe Acrobat and it's SDK (has to buy)
2. Get OpenOffice 2.0.4 and it's SDK (opensource)
So, i do option 2. I install them in my system.then i call them from my ide. Then i follow the code from this link..
