How do I reclaim space after a spill
My SYSAUX tablespace have grown significantly becase of a spill.
STREAMS$_APPLY_SPILL_MSGS_PART is pretty large.
How do I clear this out ?
Thanks
Hi Rijesh,
I've got the same issue. Could you please forward me this note Note 472440.1
and the procedure as well. My email address is [email protected]
The procedure sys.purge_spill_txn doesn't exist (Oracle 10.2.0.3) in my database. So I couldn't purge the spilled transactions.
I can found Note 556183.1 on metalink.
Thank you very much!
Jerry

How many free disk space after install OS X lion (10.7) ?
Hi,
I would like to know that how many free disk space after install OS X lion (10.7) on MBA i5.
Many Thanks,
EricI want to buy MBA i5, I would like to free disk space of MBA 13" i5, Could anyone tell it to me? Thanks
As you're buing a new MacBook Air, it will come pre-installed with Lion. The actual installation will be somewhat larger than a "clean" Lion install as it will come with iLife preinstalled. Obviously, with an Air's limited storage space, you want to be sure that you have enough room for any applications and data that you'll want to keep on the SSD as well. It is fairly easy to upgrade the SSD on an Air:

The amount of RAM you have installed is probably more important. Fortunately, the newest 13" MacBook Airs all come with 4GB standard now. -

CiscoWorks NCM 1.5 server disk full: How do I reclaim space?
We have NCM running on Redhat with mysql db. How do I reclaim some disk space?
We're getting this error for devices that NCM is trying to snapshot: The table 'RN_DEVICE_ACCESS_LOG' is full
The root partition is full:
df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
235G 228G 0 100% /
Thanks for your suggestions. I have very little experience with mysql or cleaning up NCM.I am not sure about NCM but I know for Cisco Prime Infrastructure if you are using a VM you can create a new disk via vSphere. When you reboot the system, Prime uses a script to allocate the new hard drive space to each partition. The one caveat is don't expand the existing HD or you will delete all of your data.

How do I remove space after paragraph?
Does Robohelp have the "Remove Space after paragraph" button for reducing the space between lines, like the one in Word?
In HTML the space after is controlled by the style in your CSS file. You need to edit the style in the Style Editor.
See www.grainge.org for RoboHelp and Authoring tips

Pages for iPad - how do I create space after a paragraph?
All I want is one line space after each numbered paragraph in a document.
When I press return twice, the numbering restarts!
Help.
Thanks. On the iPad, documents are saved directly in the app in which they are created. Your Pages documents are saved automatically as you work on them. If you quit working on the document right now, your progress is saved on that file. No need to save like you would on a computer.
When you close Pages and come back to it later - all of your documents will be listed in thumbnail view on the first screen. Tap on the document that you want to work on and it will open.
There is a help feature within the app. Tap on the wrench icon in the upper right corner and select Help from the resulting menu. -
How to give two spaces after new order in alv
hi
my issue is after every new order number they need two blank spaces, i know the procedure of giving new page for every new order but they need only two blank lines. (This is in ALV List format).
second thing is how to give footer
thankshi
use this variant of appendf for inserting blank lines
Append INITIAL LINE TO ITAB.
Effect
Appends a new line to the end of the internal table itab. You can only use this variant with index tables (standard or sorted table).
If you specify wa TO , the new line is taken from the contents of the explicitly specified work area wa.
If you use INITIAL LINE TO, a line filled with the correct initial value for the type is added.
If the part before itab is omitted, the new line is taken from the header line of the internal table itab.
If you use the ASSIGNING <fs> addition, the field symbol, <wa>, points to the line you have just appended. If you use the REFERENCE INTO ref addition, the data reference, dref, is filled with the reference of the line you have just appended.
If the target table itab is a SORTED TABLE, it must be sorted correctly after the append, otherwise a runtime error results.
After the statement has been executed, the system field SY-TABIX is filled with the index of the last line in the table.
Cheers

Zfs does not reclaim space after database table dropped
Our Oracle DBA dropped 200GB of tables and zfs has not reclaimed the space. I have made sure we did not have any snapshots. When I do a du -h on the filesystem, it shows the correct space, but zfs list does not show the extra space. Any ideas?
Hi,
You should make sure that the removed Oracle Datafiles were on a ZFS file system. If they were under an UFS file system, the ZFS space will remain unchanged.

How much free disk space after setup
I am just about to purchase a macbook and I am trying to find out how much disk space I can expect to have free.
I was thinking of getting the 80gb model but I also have a 40gb ipod which is two thirds full.
How much free space can I expect or should I go for the 120gb HD model? To give you an indication, my System and Library folders add up to around 12GB and my Applications folder is around 10GB.
While these aren't small they are rather typical as it includes the standard Mac OS X installation, full iLife 06, Adobe CS2, Microsoft Office v.X, Macromedia Studio MX plus a few other things. So you can realistically count on anything from 20 to 30GB for the OS and software. Yes you can obviously get less than that by optimising your installations. From there it's just how much data you have and what sort of data you use.
For most average users 60GB is plenty. If you do anything with video, have a large music library (mine is 10GB) and play games then obviously these will afftect your drive choice.
If price is not an issue then go for a 120GB drive, Apple or 3rd party. For cost effectiveness the best choice is an Apple upgrade to 80GB. -

Reclaim disk space after delete an index
Hi ,
I have deleted unused indexes from a history table to reclaim the disk space was allocated for these indexes , yet the size on the disk is the same , any steps I can follow to achieve this would be greatly appreciated..
indexes size is 70 GB
table size is 45 GB , # of rows is above 200 Million
Thanks in advancein order to reclaim space after your big delete. Don't shrink your data files unless you have no other choice.
The space will automatically go back to SQL server. You don't have to do anything.
The database size will be the same plus the growth of your log file due to logging the transactions. However, internally, SQL server knows that it still has that space to play with.
Other wise you can go for update the statistics and rebuild indexes . but I think it would be the part of your normal weekend nightly maintenance plan

Benefits of Reorg to reclaim space in Oracle
Hi All,
I have archived and deleted records from few big tables from my database, now how want to reclaim space by doing reorg.
Can anyone please guide me how to find out If I can reclaim some space by doing reorg.
What are the queries which can help me find out space used before and after reorg.
Thanks & Regards,
DeepakYou cannot do much with a long raw short of export/import it - so you would export it, drop the old table, create a new one in the new tablespace and import with ignore=y. Other objects can be online redefined into this tablespace - or indexes if they are in there can be rebuilt online into this new tablespace, but moving the long raw is going to be offline.
Source:Ask Tom "Reclaim space"
Shrink, Move, CTAS (Reclaiming space) do not works for LONG datatype. For LONG dataype export/import is the best and feasible solution.

Re-organizing table to reclaim space
Hi All,
Recently we have purged data from some tables in the database.
Is it necessary to reorganize the table to reclaim space after we remove the data from the tables? How can we find out that the table can be reorganized?
Database version:11.2.0.2
OS version:AIXhow did you purge the data?
have you used delete or truncate.
please check space under dba_segments for particular object which was purged.
from 10g onwards we have segment advisor.
The segment advisor performs analysis on the fragmentation of specified tablespaces, segments or objects and makes recommendations on how space can be reclaimed. The advisor is accessible from Enterprise Manager (Home > Advisor Central > Segment Advisor) or from PL/SQL by using the DBMS_ADVISOR package.

1) Could someone tell me the steps using GC how can I find how much flashback space I have allocated and how much is left.
2) Also if you can tell after removing old archives how can I reclaime space for flashback space.
ThxHi,
1) Could someone tell me the steps using GC how can I find how much flashback space I have allocated and how much is left.
Use v$recovery_file_dest and v$flash_recovery_area_usage.
2) Also if you can tell after removing old archives how can I reclaime space for flashback space.
Instead of removing old archives manually, set the retention policy in rman and depending upon the recovery windows the old archives will be obsolete and u can delete obsolete files through delete obsolete.

Release of space after delete/truncate table
Hello,
How does release of space after delete/truncate table works? Is the space used before deletion released once delete is complete or not? Will I see the space occupied by deleted table as free in dba_segments or will I need to reorganize the table (drop and recreate again?). Reason why I am asking is that I can see table with 0 rows, but in dba_segment I can see it is occupying few gigabytes....
Thank youHere is a little illustration for you;
