Hi there, I need to compose and print a piece in 3/2 time (ie three minums in a bar) not in the standard list. Just wondering if its possible.

Better than store-bought programs are abc2midi and abcm2ps for converting abc musical notation to midi and postscript respectively. Such a midi can be imported into Garage Band. The postscript can of course be converted to pdf using Preview.
My only regret in this system is that I cannot export my mixed and edited GB song back to midi.

You're not very clear in stating your problem. Maybe it's terminology: "takes" in recording lingo (and in GB lingo) are different version of exactly the same part in a song, so you only want one of them in the end. Please tell us exactly what you did and what it is that you don't like.

How to recording a 3 piece bluegrass band Live

I would like to use GaragBand to record a live demo of a 3 piece acoustic band.
Two male vocals, One female vocal, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and cello.
Any suggestions for mic set up, number of mics to use. Kind of mic (s) to use.

Here is what I would suggest, and we can stay well under your budget.
Use either mixer (the behringer would be fine), set up the SM57s for the vocalists (2 would have to share 1 unless you can scare up another mic) and then the omnis to pick up the room.

I found in the function modul BAPI_RECORD_ADDELEMENT no entry for the creation of a model node. Only the instance and the structure node can create by this function modul.
So, does anyone know a solution to create a model note?

But you can do that by using directly the Records API. How to use this is demonstrated in the report 'SRM_RECORD_API_HOWTO'. Search there for the subroutine 'fillrecordelement'. There a record element for insert is created and its type is set. You can set the type there to 'IF_SRM_SP_RECORD_ELEMENT~TYPE_MODEL'. Of course your POID then may not be an instance POID.

How to stop report updating the records

Morning all,
I have created a report which calculates reworked jobs according to a group (reason code). I later on added a sub report which calculates all the jobs (that is all the processed jobs). The sub report is linked with main report by Reason code.
Reason Code 1 to 99 in main report is linked with the reason code 1 to 99 in the sub report.
There are 9 specified reason codes. for example
Customer care - 1-99 reason code - This reason code total processed orders value is the same as Supplier.
Lab Surfacing - 200-299 reason code -
Lab Tinting - 400-499 reason code -
Hard Coating - 800-899 reason code -
Supplier etc. - 900-99 reason code - This reason code total processed orders value is the same as CstCare.
When the report runs, it calculates the value of the first group 1-99, sub report counts the total processed orders and displays the value (upto here it is fine). As the report goes on reading records, it updates the values and shows an updated value in some groups which needs to be the same as the first group value.
For example
If Customer Care had 470 processed orders, by the time it reaches Supplier it shows 507 processed orders, where as it should have kept it to 470 processed orders for Supplier group as both should have same value of orders processed.
The report is running fine however the records which are being pulled from the sub report gets updated by the time report finish counting all the records.
The main reason why it is doing is because it starts recounting on each group reason code. So when it sets off from reason code 1 to 99, it calculates all the records and then filters them to get 1 to 99 reason code records. Then when it comes to 100-199 group it starts recounting again all the records. The process kept itself until it stops matching reason codes between two reports.
Any ideas how to process all the records at once from the sub report? so that each time it looks for the record, it just picks what has been processed?
I suspect instead of keeping it on the group level I should move the sub reports on the header of the main report?
Any ideas will be welcomed.

Hi J,
This is not possible in Crystal, as you are well aware that when it is processing a group in the report, it will process that particular group objects like sub totals, group totals, sub reports etc. You can't pull all information (sub report) at once and show in bits and pieces.
You may have to create an intermediate database and replicate the data from your main database in certain intervals. It will help you to prevent different count in groups.

How to show Session Error Records to End Users

Hi all,
I had to populate data using SESSION Method...
I have 1000 records, out of which 750 records where updated correctly but i got 250 error records in it.
i know that error records are stored in Error log/ INCORRECT SESSION in SM35.
Now i want to modify these errounous records and repopulate them.
Questions.
1) We click on ANALYSE in SM35 to determine which sreen and value produced the error. if we have small data we can correct them interactively there only. But for 250 records how we have to correct them and upload 250 errors records.
2) Can we download those error records into a flatfile.
3) Is there any other method to handle such situation.

Dear Freinds,
How can we know whether a record is already exisitng in the database ,
for us to decide to do the LSMW in INS or MOD.
I mean to say if for a record already exisits in the database (ex pa0002) and we are doing a LSMW , How can we check a record already exsits in the database and modify of that record and if doesn't exits go for create option. Please let me know in which step we can do this validation?

By adding a line userenv('language') we solve the problem.
But the coding was written inside the standard "OKSITMSL.pll". Here For the Field "NAME", LOV

How do I break music files into smaller pieces to save battery life?

Apple claims that ipod battery life is improved if music files are less than 9mb for some reason that involves having to load music into the cache more often. Most of my music files are much larger than 9mb and I would like to break up the files into smaller pieces. How can I do this using itunes? Or do I need to use another program?

Most likely the reason your songs are over 9 MB are because they were recorded or "Ripped" In a high bit rate. The bit rate is basicly how many bits per second are played. the higher the bit rate the better the sound is in most cases. in MP3's 128kbs is CD qualidy and is the average, theres also 160kbs and 192kbs. anything above 192 most humans can't tell the difference. theres 2 things u can do, if you have the music on CD u can take the time to rip them again at a lower bit rate MP3 in iTunes or you can have iTunes convert all your songs into the AAC format. If you convert them to AAC tho, you will only be able to play them on your iPod and iTunes only.
You may be able to find free software that will convert all your mp3s to a lower bit rate or compact them more but there are other things you can do to extend your battery. Make sure your iPods EQ setting is off, shorted the amount of time the backlight is on in the iPod settings, lower the volume while playing ur iPod will save the battery. Another thing is to make a good playlist of all the songs u like, so your not constantly switching to other songs. every time u switch songs the iPod has to spin the harddrive inside it and thats a big power drain on the battery.

MPEG Streamclip and the Apple MPEG-2 component will allow you to edit the VOB files off the DVD and export to MPEG-4. Searching here will provide this answer several hundred times as it is asked a LOT. More so for iPod users. You cannot export or edit and then export MPEG1/2 with Quicktime unless you do not need the audio as there won't be any.

How to publish a Captivate piece to Import as Animation with Media Player Controls

I want to record a demonstration of an application using
Captivate 3. Then, I want to publish this as a flash piece. (swf).
Then, I want to "import as animation" into a WBT template using
Captivate. The issue I am having is importing the flash piece to
include the media player controls so the user has control of only
that flash piece. Usually, we get two swf files one of the main
recording and another of the skin (media player). I know I am
missing something either in my publishing options or somewhere
else.
Can anyone help?

You might try this. In the first project, click Project >
Skin... > Borders tab and DE-select the "Show Borders" check
box. This should coax the playback controls into the main part of
the movie so there is a single .SWF. You could then have the
playback controls present in the .SWF you insert into the second
Captivate.
Note that doing this will also cause the playback controls to
cover part of the movie.
I'm not sure how well the playback controls will work once
the project gets inside the second. So I wouldn't be too surprised
if they failed to work. But they might. So it's definitely worth
trying to see.

How to make Different Tracks in a Recording

I'm just starting to make my way around GarageBand ...
I have to do a recording tomorrow ... its an audition for a pianist. He's going to have to play some solos, scales etc ... all told it will be about an hour and a half of recording or more ...
What I need to know is ..... Every part of the audition has to end up as a different track on the cd I make of it. For example the ten scales has to play would each be a track number ... his solo piece another number and so on.
How do I mark tracks on the recording? Also ... if I set up the recording and just press record every time he plays ..... am I going to have enough space in the one project to record everything? I thought I read somewhere that garageband has a limit on the number of bars that it can record.

Do You mean miniDV tape (interlaced video PAL or NTSC) ?
If so - iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - are not tools of Choise if You want a DVD as result - They all discards every second line resulting in less quality.
Sync. Problem - If miniDV tape - How was it recorded -
Audio mode - Is Camera set to record in 12-bit 32kHz - Should be 16-bit 48kHz
Recording mode - SP (60 min on a 60 min tape) or LP (90 min on 60 min tape)
If LP-mode - Then You need - Same Camera as recorded - tolerances is to small even for a Camera of same brand and type to play-back.
I would use FinalCut Express and a setting of PAL/N TSC and 32kHz audio if Camera is set to record in 12-bit
If LP-mode - iMovie HD6 is more tolerant in Captuing than FinalCut and Imediatly after Import/Capture - Extract Audio
And set iM HD6 to NOT IMPORT AS INDIVIDUAL Clips - to many drop outs to work.

How do I create more depth in my recording?

I finished the recording and editing of an orchestra piece in Logic and are very happy with the results. Only, everything sounds very much "on the nose" too close on my face. Is there a way to have the experience as if I am an audience sitting in a concert hall? More depth to the sound? I already using the concert hall reverb but that doesn't do it.
