How do I recover a corrupt PowerPoint 2013 presentation?

Basically, I have three separate presentations with the same problem and I have read the other thread regarding this and have tried to load the presentation up through Open
Office and this has failed. Does anyone else have any ideas as these are extremely important to me!!!
F.Y.I - When I open the file within Open Office, it loads up a load of hashes in the writer function of the program.

Create a new blank presentation in PowerPoint, and save it under a new name.
Then, go to Format -> Slide Design, choose to show all documents, and choose the corrupt PowerPoint file. Now, go to Insert -> Slides from File, and
select the corrupt PowerPoint file. Make sure you are set to insert all slides, and then import. If that works, great! I suspect, however, that you might crash at that point. If so, try repeating the process, inserting specific slides one by one until you
find the problem one. After that, save the file, making sure that Fast Saves are off (in Preferences / Save).
If you are unable to open your PowerPoint files then try
PPTX Repair Kit recovery tool. This utility recovers your corrupt and damaged PowerPoint presentations (.ppt, .pot, .pps, pptx and ppsx formats) from MS PowerPoint files.

  • How to burn a powerpoint 2013 presentation to a DVD R and or USB flash drive.

My Powerpoint 2013 slideshow includes photo's, clip art with transitions and animations and embedded music.   I want to
burn this presentation to either  a DVD disk or a USB flash drive and send it to a friend.   My friend has a windows 7 desktop
computer and a DVD player attached to a TV.   Ideally I want to know how to burn the presentation to a DVD so that the presentation can be played back on the TV using the DVD player.    I do not want to lose any of the transitions
or animations when I burn the presentation to a DVD.          I know most TV's have a USB connection but have no idea how this works if the
presentation is copied to a USB flash drive.   What are my best options to keep the integrity of the presentation intact, and how do I go about doing this?   I need detailed instructions please.   Thanks in advance
    for your assistance.

    Hi,
The factor of keeping the integrity of presentation when you burn this presentation to either a DVD disk or a USB flash drive depends on performance of DVD disk and USB flash drive.
There are two ways to put PowerPoint presentation on a DVD convert PPT to video.
    1. Convert PPT Files To DVD is to use a screen capture software.
    2. Convert and Burn PowerPoint Presentation onto DVD would be to use a professional PowerPoint to DVD converter software.
    For more detail information:
    http://worldclassmedia.com/how-to-convert-powerpoint-files-to-dvd-put-a-powerpoint-presentation-on-tv/
If your TV doesn’t have built-in processors or Windows installed, it can’t run PowerPoint presentations in their native environment from a USB connectors. If so, you should convert it to video format first.

    Hello,
Corrupt movies like yours can be recovered. It's quite hard, you have to rebuild the movie index.
There's a free application called Treasured to diagnose and preview your damaged movie files:

  • How to get a theme from powerpoint 2010 into my powerpoint 2013 presentation?

I really need them Module theme for my powerpoint presentation. However it is not available in the 2013 version. Is there any way I can download the theme to use it?

The Module theme is one of several Office Themes which shipped with Office2010, and it doesn't seem to be available for separate download. If you have a presentation/document which uses the theme you want, you should be able to open that presentation, and
    then "Save As" a theme.
On my PC, this saves the custom theme to: C:\Users\Don\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Document Themes
On my old PC (Office2010), the Module theme is stored at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Document Themes 14\
On my new PC (Office2013), the builtin themes are stored at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Document Themes 15\

  • How do I recover a corrupt PSD file?

My last save of a 1.5GB PSD file went without a hitch. Routine save, as I always do before closing Photoshop (using CTRL-S). The save was not interrupted in any way, nor did it behave differently than it did the previous 100 times I saved this particular file.
However, upon reloading, now the progress bar stalls at appx. 30% before the thing gives me a disk error.
I have 600GB and 700GB free on both of my hard drives, so disk space is not the problem.
I tried loading the file with both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 64-bit Edition. Both produce the same results. Disk error.
    Rebooting did not change anything.
I tried copying the file to another location, but I get a "Cannot read from source disk" error.
But it's there, seemingly full size, with two weeks worth of work in it.
I ran a Google search for PSD recovery tools, and there are several commercial products claiming to be able to help. But I wanted to know if Adobe provided one first, then if anyone ever tried any of the other tools out there and saw it actually work.
    Thanks!

I mean, these are all "Bad Block" disk errors. What's the worst that can happen?
What non-Windows repair tools have I advised you to use?  I suggested a full System Image backup, using Windows Backup.
It's not a software problem, it's a confirmed hardware failure.  Software repair tools will not fix it.  This is experience talking.
The worst that can happen is that the drive will fail completely and you will lose all your data.  And yes, even Caviar Black drives do fail.
If something under the hood of your car goes boom and you lose power, do you just floor it to maintain speed so that you can keep driving?  No.  You stop immediately, to take the stress off your engine so that you don't compound the problem.  Something like a CHKDSK /R would exercise heck out of your drive - the very thing that's failing.  Is that really what you want?

Yes, I tried the Rebuild command and after about three or four minutes received an error message. However, since posting the question the problem has mysteriously vanished. I don't know what I did to cause the problem, or to solve the problem, but thank you very much for trying to help.

  • Record narration in Powerpoint 2013 with returns to previous slides

    Hi,
I am trying to record narration on a Powerpoint slide show  (Powerpoint 2013). However I discovered that I can go only forward with slides. When I return to a previous slide the audio simply overwrites the narration of the first visit to the slide.
I s there any way to have Powerpoint store multiple audio segments and the timing on returning to previous slides ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Could you please tell me how do you record narration in PowerPoint 2013? Do you use record slide show from Slide Show?
If yes, it records narration on each slide not by time. This is why you return to a previous slide the audio simply overwrites the narration of the first visit to the slide.

Process for creating a test file is as follows
Via youtube and your preferred browser, search for any video file (eg rubik's cube), select a video and start to watch it.  Choose Share, Embed and copy the link information (eg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/MaltgJGz-dU"
    frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>)
Close browser and create a new powerpoint 2013 presentation.
    Insert, Video, Online Video
In the "From a Video Embed Code" box, paste the link information then click the arrow to apply
Save the file and then Right Click on the file and Preview.
In advance of the creation/running, I've applied the following KBs to the machine(s)
    kb2817636 & kb2837627
As i said at the start, members of the Power Uses or Administrators group don't have this issue - but as 99% of our users are "users" and not really an option to make them all members of PU group.
Same also happens if the computer is removed from the domain.  Admin & power users work, standard users crash IE.
Uninstall and reinstall of Office 2013 and IE11 has no apparent difference.
    Assistance in this is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to add sound in each slide of powerpoint 2013

    Hi,
I want to add sound in each slide of my powerpoint presentations in 2013.Please let us know how to do these things.
    Regards
    Pradeep

    Hi Pradeep,
I would like to confirm that how exactly you want PowerPoint 2013 to play a sound. For example, add sound to your PowerPoint slide transitions, add background music, or play a sound during an Animation.
To play a sound during a transition, go to the Transitions tab on the ribbon, apply a transition, then click the drop-down for
Sound, and choose one from the list.
To add audio in the background, you can go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and click the
Audio button, choosing Online Audio... to search a clip media on Office.com or select a sound from your computer by selecting
    Audio on My PC...
To add sound effects to an animation, you can refer to this article:https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Add-sound-effects-to-an-animation-7d0e2d70-caca-495e-a738-a8257474605e

The SD card I used in a GoPro camera seems corrupt, I cannot detect in either in the camera or on the computer. How can I recover my photos and videos?

  • How do I Update PowerPoint 2013 Slide Deck Preview Thumbnail?

I often copy previous presentations and revamp them for my next presentation. I notice that after changing the title slide in PowerPoint 2013 the embedded thumbnail.jpeg file is not updated. Ordinarily I would not care, but recently I am presenting to two
competing comanies and I cannot have the branding for one company on the presentation for another.
Short of completely recreating the deck, is there a way to force the update of the thumbnail.jpeg file in the PPTX?
    Thanks!

OK, I discovered that You can go to Backstage and chose Properties | Advanced Properties | Summary | Save preview with picture. Uncheck and save then recheck and save and PowerPoint will refresh the thumbnail...unless it doesn't. Which was true for half
    of my decks.
    For those I:
    Renamed the file to zip
    Deleted the thumbnail.
Renamed the file back to PPTX
    Opened in PowerPoint.
    Let PowerPoint perform the repair.
Toggle the preview setting as above

  • How to prevent PowerPoint 2013 from mucking with my laptop display mode?

I have an EliteBook 8570p in a docking station, with an external monitor and keyboard attached.
I typically have my display mode as "duplicate", with the same thing  showing on both my laptop screen and external monitor.  I use the external monitor as the main screen. This might be uncommon, but I prefer it this way.  I've
been working this way for quite a while.
I very recently started using MS PowerPoint 2013.  Today I discovered an annoying bug (feature?) with this combination.  I was in "slideshow mode" for a pptx I was working on, and I pressed ESC to get back to editing the doc.  What
happened was that the external monitor just showed my background wallpaper, and the laptop screen showed the normal display, along with my background wallpaper.  I then had to slide over to my laptop keyboard and press Fn-F4 and set it to "Duplicate",
and that restored my external monitor display.
I don't like this behavior.  I also noticed that when I go into slideshow mode, the display on the laptop screen is different from what I see on the external monitor. It looks like it's showing an "intelligent" view of the slideshow, with
a big panel showing the current page, and the next page in a smaller panel. That's interesting, but I don't want it to do that if I'm in "Duplicate" display mode.
Is there a way to get the "older" behavior from PowerPoint 2013?

    Thanks Milan for the explanation.
And the mentioned option can be found by going to the "SLID SHOW" tab>"Monitors" section on the ribbon in PowerPoint 2013.
