If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

Ya, 30GB iPods are hard drive models. I think the magnets used for the latched of most iPod cases are likely too weak to do any harm. However if you want to be perfectly safe, then you could avoid those type of cases if you wished.

I have a iPod Touch (4TH Genration). It was frozen for two days straight on the apple logo. I kept holding the two keys and tried to connect it to itunes and it wouldn't budge. On the third day I conected it to itunes, and it told me that it nedded to be restored and that my photos would be backed up. Now here I am with a funny acting ipod and NO photos!

I was able to mount the Ipod 4 as a Disk Drive using iExplorer software.
I then used standard FAT32 Disc Recovery software to scan the entire contents of the internal drive for deleted data. Nothing found. This is due to the Ipod Touch 4th generation using Flash Drive technology, once its gone, its gone. Flashed off the device like ROM / RAM, instead of leaving a ghost image behind like stanard disc drives.
Lesson learned. Do not use Itunes, until they have some type of software change in which synching does not wipe your device, never had this trouble on a Zune or Sony mp3 player. -

I just got a new iPod Touch 4th generation for my daughter. I have a iPhone 5 that is already set up on iTunes. The only thing I want on her iPod from my iTunes is music and apps. Well, well, well. It seems that Apple iTunes had really ****** me off today. Here is what happened

Here is my story and at the bottom are my Questions
The hard drive on my old computer crashed and I bought myself a new one. When I finally decided to put more on music onto my iPod Classic something happened. iTunes disabled without deleting my $300 worth of iPod Classic Click Wheel Games. I've called and contacted them for support to no avail. I believe I forgot to authorize my new computer before putting on my new music.
Just before Christmas I called Apple support asking questions & the man on the phone didn't have very good advice for me. He said that maybe iTunes could replace the games for me. So I started looking at iTunes for iPod Classic Click Wheel Games and they were no where to be found. Apparently Apple had removed them from the store and yet they sell iPod classics.

After Christmas I tried again to contact them about my iPod Classic to try and have my $300 worth of click wheel games replaced. While I waited on the phone for an hour while they played poor quality music into my ear giving me sever headache. (I have poor hearing, had a headache and was frustrated) She gave me advice to contact Apple about the iTunes store. I called again and got a hold of someone who i could better understand. He gave me a step by step information which was the same as the last person I had contacted.

I made a that attempt at contacting apple and they told me that i Could "Check for Available Downloads". Which was the very first thing I'd Tried. If this isn't possible I Am Going to Be very Skeptical about ever getting a iPod Touch or iPhone. I've already been telling a lot of people about my problem.

I downloaded a trial version of Touch Copy
Somehow I managed to re-activate my lost games and copy most of the files back onto my computer using "Touch Copy".
Then I downloaded the last 4 missing files from somewhere else but I'm not posting where i got them.
Now that I have fixed my problem without Apple's expensive help

Not really. All ClickWheel games should be locked to the account used to purchase them. If your friend wished to authorize your library that would work. At the time of purchase you were told that you got only one (successful) download of the content after which it would be your responsibility to maintain backups.

It will be fine. If you transfer the games into your library they can then be copied to any compatible device where they will work. The key is that the library doing the transfer is authorized to the relevant account when you update the content.
