How do I recover play counts/dates, etc?

I just reformatted my pc. Assuming I do have the iTunes program folder backed up somewhere, what file(s) do I need to recover to restore the play counts/dates from my old library?
I imported the saved .xml file, that shows all the files, playlists and ratings but does not show play information.
My library has 50000+ songs, I normally listen to things based on play count. I really need to get this back.
Thanks.

I did have that folder backed up, but there are no .itl files.
The .qtr file looks like the best to me, any other suggestions?

  • Please help - shuffle has stopped updating play count & date last played

All of a sudden these features have stopped working. (I've had this shuffle since January and it worked just fine till last week.) If I play a tune from iTunes on the computer, the play count & date are updated; but if I play a tune on the iPod, this information doesn't change as it used to. Can anyone help me out? I've already restored etc.

I had a similar problem and was able to recover. I deleted all files on the iShuffle including the hidden ones. On Windows I killed the iPodservice and iTuneshelper processes. That allowed me to view the iShuffle memory in an Explorer window. Blow away all of the files and directories. (Be sure they are not hidden.) Pull the iShuffle out, launch iTunes (to restart the services - or reboot to play it safe), and plug the iShuffle back in.
    Hope this helps!

The trail contains changed-data events: inserts, updates & deletes (and optionally DDL events.) The GG replicat reads this data and converts the data to SQL to be applied to the target.
The GG trail files are not the same as the data as originally seen in the redo logs (GG is not doing any type of log-shipping of redo logs). The actual data in the trail isn't really important for end-users; it's an implementation detail (much like you shouldn't care what Oracle's redo log format is). But you can use "logdump" to inspect the contents of this (binary) file... again, kind of like LogMiner can be used to inspect archive logs.
There are a number of (conceptual) analogies one can draw between Oracle redo logs & GG trail files. But they're not the same. Your questions are mostly internal implementation details that are not really important for understanding how GoldenGate works. Nonetheless, it is useful to become familiar with logdump for advanced troubleshooting.
    Good luck,

  • Savings play counts/dates added?

Hi, I'm going through the process of re-installing Windows XP on my computer, which means I'll have to back up all of my music on CD's, but I really want to keep my play counts and my dates added for my music when I add it back to the computer...is that what I use the Export Song List/Export Library for?

If you're using iTunes to do the backup, and you select "Backup the entire library and playlists", one of the files it should copy to the CD/DVD is "iTunes Library.itl". This file has all your playlists, play counts, etc.
    See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302392
If you're not using iTunes to do the backup for some reason, then make sure to copy that file. It is located (by default) in <pre>My Documents\My Music\iTunes\</pre>
In fact, you should backup that entire folder.
If you backup the ITL file, then you don't need to export your playlists. But FYI:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763

  • Library transfer - hasn't retained play counts, ratings etc.

Recently got a new laptop, and tried to transfer my iTunes library to it. I followed a guide to do it and still keep all my play counts and song ratings etc. but it hasn't worked. I've got the xml and library files still, so can anyone tell me what i need to do to fix it?

Assuming you have a default installation of iTunes, you need to backup the iTunes folder in Music with all its sub folders.
But I Assume you will be backing up all your data including the Music folder, so that should get it.
When you get your PC back, install iTunes, then drag the iTunes folder out of music to the desktop. Then copy the iTunes folder from backup into your Music folder so it replaces the one you dragged out.
You may need to adjust the permissions on your iTunes folder so that your account and SYSTEM have full control.

  • How to manually recover user state data saved to a State Migration Point

    Hi,
In SCCM 2012, how would you recover the User State saved to the State Migration Point manually?
In SCCM 2007 you could do what was outlined here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/159affd3-1726-4829-a0f4-0c875481fc11
However this does not work for SCCM 2012 because the User State Recovery key so long that it cannot be used with a loadstate command (Loadstate commands cannot be longer than 256 characters)
Previously you could also have just opened the User.mig file using Windows Easy Transfer and entered the User State Recovery key stored in SCCM - however in SCCM 2012 this does not work either!
I really need to recover the contents for a user who got a new computer (old one stolen) and requires data from a previous user state capture on the State Migration Point.

    Hi,
It seems something changed in SCCM 2012.
I've got the same problem and after couple hours of research I found MS article that only helped me -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824962.aspx
In SCCM server I run this command:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool\amd64>usmtutils.exe /extract C:\tmp\_MIG\USMT.MIG C:\tmp\_MIG\Extract /decrypt /keyfile:C:\tmp\_MIG\Key.txt
    and received necessary data.

  • How to view custom performance counter data?

I have created a new MVC application and have added Application Insights to the project. I modified the ApplicationInsights.config file to start collecting the performance counter for Memory\Page Faults/sec. How can I tell if this data is making it to App
Insights? I can't see the data in the portal. When I add a chart in metrics explorer this counter does not exist under the Performance Counters.
Where do I go to view this data? How can I determine if it's working or not? Also the documentation I'm finding on the subject appears to be outdated. Is MMA still used to capture this data? If not, what is used now? Do I need to restart something in order
for this data to start getting collected?

    </ApplicationInsights>

Can you please let us know which documentation you're referring to? It does seem to be outdated.
Application Insights collects certain performance counters on its own; unfortunately, the list of performance counters is not configurable as of now. The syntax you're using
    <PerformanceCounters>
        <PerformanceCounterConfiguration counterSpecifier="\Memory\Page Faults/sec"/>
      </PerformanceCounters>
    is not supported.
Performance data will be collected automatically (no further configuration needed) as long as the following element is in your ApplicationInsights.config (and it is indeed present in your sample):
      <Add Type="Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.Extensibility.PerfCollector.PerformanceCollectorModule,
    Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.Extensibility.PerfCollector" />
Performance counters currently collected by Application Insights are:
    \Process(<application process>)\% Processor Time
    \Memory\Available MBytes
    \ASP.NET Applications(<IIS process>)\Requests/Sec
    \.NET CLR Exceptions(<application process>)\# of Exceps Thrown / sec
    \ASP.NET Applications(<IIS process>)\Request Execution Time
    \Process(<application process>)\Private Bytes
    \Process(<application process>)\IO Data Bytes/sec
    \ASP.NET Applications(<IIS process>)\Requests In Application Queue
    \Processor(_Total)\% Processor Time
There are additional factors that may affect performance collection; this blog article contains a section detailing performance collection in Application Insights SDK:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2014/12/11/updated-application-insights-status-monitor-to-support-12-and-later-application-insights-sdk.aspx
Please check out the section starting with the words "One of the changes made in the .12 version
    of the Application
Insights for Web Applications SDK is the collection of the following Windows performance counters."
As you can see from the blog post, you are indeed looking in the right place in the portal (Metric Explorer under Performance Counters), but only the default counters will be collected.
As a workaround, consider taking advantage of one of TelemetryClient.Track* methods to report data to Application Insights.

  • How do i reset play count?

How do i reset the play count on my iPod? (I have an iPod Video.) Also, in anyone knows how to do it on itunes too, that would be awesome. Thanks.

In iTunes go to edit/select all (or highlight just the songs that you want to reset). Right click on the songs and select "reset play count". Click 'ok'.
Sync your ipod to iTunes to reflect the changes on there also.

  • How to I get play count on my iphone to show up in itunes on new mac?

I got a new macbook pro and downloaded the music from my other computer through homeshare. The play count on my phone would show up on the old computer but hasnt on the new mac even after syncing multiple times. I want the play count from the old computer's itunes to transfer to the new one.

Try syncing them back to your iPhone using iTunes.  Open iTunes on your Mac.  Connect your iPhone.  Select the albums or photos on your Mac that you wish to transfer back to the iPhone.  Click Sync.  They should then be synced to your iPhone.

  • I want to transfer my itunes music from my old laptop to my new one but I want to also preserve the library data such as play count, date added etc.

The thing is, my itunes media folder where the .itl and .xml files are located are different from where my actual music folder is located (on my desktop), but my itunes library is still managed by itunes so I'm not sure how to go about it because I can't just simply copy the whole itunes folder because I have two seperate ones

There are multiple threads and documents on how to accomplish this.  Was a search of the forums or your favorite search engine done before posting this common issue?
The library files and media files being in different locations is a minor issue.. same basic concept still applies.  Move the ENTIRE iTunes folder (and any media folders) to the new computer from the old computer.

  • How can i recover all my data from my HDD?

My main External Hdd while writing to it got an error saying Cyclic Redundancy I tried using Chkdsk but it states that the data had turned RAW. Upon
restarting my pc the disk drive H was no longer visible and the Hdd space is now unallocated space.
I want to recover all of the data if possible but most of the software i found was only one file type recovery software, I know that resigning the Volume
to H will format the drive but as i dont want that i m lost . Can MiniTool Power Data Recovery help me ?

    Hi,
As you said, in order to recovery deleted files or files on a corrupted disk, we will have to use a third party application.
At this situation you may have to confirm with application provider to contact a data recovery company to see if files could be recovery. Generally a format will not affect finding the files back but as files on that disk is important, it is not recommended.
Also if available it is good to ghost that disk and try steps on that ghost copy to product the original one. But if it is a hardware issue you may not able to get data back.

  • How can I recover lost iPhone data

I recently performed a sync with Oulook. The file was corrupted and I lost all my iPhone contacts and calendar data. I am unable to repair the pst file. Can I restore my device from an old backup in iOS?

Yes, you can recover from an old backup, but it will recover everything in that backup; there's no way to selectively recover from a backup. Which is a good reason to back up daily.
If you back up to your computer connect the phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose "restore from backup". If you back up to iCloud go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase All Content and Settings. You will then be asked if you want to restore from the iCloud backup.

  • How do I recover my sync data without the key?

I had a username and password on my account, and I thought that'd be enough to access my data. After wiping my laptop and reinstalling windows and firefox, I found this was not the case. All I want back are all my bookmarks that I had been storing for work, I don't need passwords or anything else. I am hugely frustrated right now; what can I do to recover my bookmarks?

    Hey jacfalcon,
This is confusing and needs clarification:
    Due to this bug: [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=642969]
The username and password have to be entered before the link "I have lost my device" link works.
    From the browser
    # Select Set up Sync
    # Select I have an account
    # Click I do not have the device with me
    # Enter the username and password
    # Click "I have lost my other device"
This will take you to the next dialogue.
There is a local file if you have a back up of the machine before you whipped it, or there is a way to recover the account when you set up sync on the new profile of the wiped computer. If you need help with this [http://mzl.la/LHJo6V Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles] Otherwise, I am sorry there is not a way to restore.

  • How do you stop play counts and song ratings being synced?, How do you stop play counts and song ratings being synced?

There are 5 ios devices being synced to my itunes on my conputer, how do i only make my devices sync song eatings and play countback and forth?
    Cheers.

There are a couple of ways to do this.
    1) Open the music trimmer and trim the track that way.
    2) Drag the music track onto the frame of your video where you want it to start. The music track will be below the video track. You can drag the right edge of this music track to the left to make it stop at any point. In essence, you can treat a music track just like a sound effects track or a voice track.
