How do I recover the system?

Help! My Lenovo 3000 N100 was running slower and slower, especially when browsing on the web. So I looked for a way to restore it's speed. The Lenovo has a care button. In it, there is security and maintenance option. When I clicked on that, it offer an option to rejuvenate the sysem. It asked me to select a restore day and it will delete all except the data and programs and then it will restore. That seems fine to me so I proceeded. When it got to the system restore in progress screen, it seems to be stuck and stayed at 0% progress for a long time. It won't respond to any key I pressed. So out of desperation I clicked the restart button. That did it! It went to a screen that said something like cannot start windows because a file in Windows root/system32/hal.dll is missing or corrupt.
Since no Window XP disc or any other disc come with the purchase, how do I get my computer to restore and work again?

The system rejuvinaton feature uses the basebackups to restore your computer to an earlier time.If you still have not made any recovery cds as such contact lenovo and explain your situation,and obtain the recovery cd's

The Notbook has an invisible partition, from which the system can repair or restore. Theoretically, should I start with f8 in the meantime. It does not work.
The main problem is a mini change. I have to start over LAN to Disable. After the restart standing: "NTLDR is missing ...."
After much Experiment, I think, I have made more damage than necessary.
"NTLDR is missing ..." also, if I start with F8.
With F2 or F12 can I get a surface from which I get from CD, USB stick or memory card can start.
Can I get from there to somehow to invisible partition to recovery the system?
The device is without Recovery DVD. Whether i have asked by the shop, if i can get one. If i get one, I still don`t know. Currently, I have none.

I think there is no much to do
If you have a original Microsoft Windows XP CD then you could use it and could star the repair console. But to be honest its really tricky to use the XP repair console and youve got limited access capabilities.
But it looks like you dont have such CD and therefore you last resort would be the new OS installation.

What operating system are you using?
Have you created a set of Recovery DVDs?
Click the Start Menu and open Computer - do you see a Recovery D partition showing here?

If you did register it back then, open your Adobe account with your Adobe ID and you will find it there: Find your serial number quickly

1. In case you have access to BUI 7120 as root but lost password to ILOM.
      Try change password on ZFS stroage via BUI interface. Genaraly ZFS Appliance synchronize BUI and ILOM passwords.
2. In case You have ILOM password but lost password to BUI.
      Read doc "Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System: How to Recover from a Lost Root Password (Doc ID 1547912.1)" on support.oracle.com.
3. You lost all passwords.
      on support.oracle.com present doc:
      Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System: How to recover from lost ILOM password (Doc ID 1548188.1)
But it nothing usefull for genereal user.
Array 7120 based on server: Sun Fire X4270 M2 you can try find information about clear ILOM password for this system.

System Image Restore Fails "No disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found"

                                    - Our critical server image backup Fails on one
server -
Two 2008 R2 servers. Both do a nightly "Windows Server Backup" of Bare Metal Recovery, System State, C:, System Reserved partition, to another storage hard drive on the same machine as the source. Active Directory is on the C: The much larger D: data
partition on each source hard drive is not included.
Test recovery by disconnecting 500G System drive, booting from 2008R2 Install DVD, recovering to a new 500G SATA hard drive.
Server A good.
Server B fails. It finds the backed-up image, & then we can select the date we want. As soon as the image restore is beginning and the timeline appears, it bombs with "The system image restore failed. No disk that can be used for recovering the system
disk can be found." There is a wordy Details message but none of it seems relevant (we are not using USB etc).
At some point after this, in one (or two?) of the scenarios below, (I forget exactly where) we also got :
"The system image restore failed. (0x80042403)"
The destination drive is Not "Excluded".
Used   diskpart clean   to remove volumes from destination drive. Recovery still errored.
Tried a second restore-to drive, same make/model Seagate ST3500418AS, fails.
Tried the earliest dated B image rather than the most recent, fail.
The Server B backups show as "Success" each night.
Copied image from B to the same storage drive on A where the A backup image is kept, and used the A hardware to attempt restore. Now only the latest backup date is available (as would occur normally if we had originally saved the backup to a network location).
Restore still fails.         It looks like its to do with the image rather than with the hardware.
Tried unticking "automatically check and update disk error info", still fail.
Server A SRP 100MB C: 50.6GB on Seagate ST3500418AS 465.76GB Microsoft driver 6.1.7600.16385   write cache off
Server B SRP 100MB C: 102GB on Seagate ST3500418AS 465.76GB Microsoft driver 6.1.7600.16385   write cache off
Restore-to hard drive is also Seagate ST3500418AS.

1. While recovering the OS to the new Hard disk, please don't keep the original boot disk attached to the System. There is a Disk signature for each hard disk. The signature will collide if the original boot disk signature is assigned to the new disk.
You may attach the older disk after recovering the OS. If you want to recover data to the older disk then they should be attached as they were during backup.
2. Make sure that the new boot disk is attached as the First Boot disk in hardware (IDE/SATA port 0/master) and is the first disk in boot order priority.
3. In Windows Recovery Env (WinRE) check the Boot disk using: Cmd prompt -> Diskpart.exe -> Select Disk = System. This will show the disk where OS restore will be attempted. If the disk is different than the intended 2 TB disk then swap the disks in
correct order in the hardware.
4. Please make sure that the OS is always recovered to the System disk. (Due to an issue: BMR might recover the OS to some other disk if System disk is small in size. Here the OS won't boot. If you belive this is the case, then you should attach the
bigger sized disk as System disk and/or exclude other disks from recovery). Disk exclusion is provided in System Image Restore/Complete PC Restore UI/cmdline.
5. Make sure that Number and Size of disks during restore match the backup config. Apart from boot volumes, some other volumes are also considered critical if there are services/roles installed on them. These disks will be marked critical for recovery and
should be present with minimum size requirement.

I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

Before you have another accident:
Buy a UPS of good quality and sufficient to your needs.
I would have to assume that the drives were connected to a PCI PATA card, hopefully. Otherwise, well RAID and having drives on the same bus (master and slave).
And no backup, none at all...
Get your hands on a G4.
Data Rescue 3 from Prosoft maybe.
If they were SATA and running on PCI SATA controller, very popular and common really in G4s, more options would be open.

The password used to log in to a user account remotely is the same as you would use to log into it locally. You can also use your Apple ID, so try that.

If you have forgotten the password to that Apple ID, then go to My Apple ID and you will see and option to reset your password. You will need to answer the security questions or if you have a rescue email address set up you can get it sent to that email to reset the password. Check out the article for more information.

If when you go to icloud.com and sign in with your current iCloud ID you see all your iCloud data there, you can safely sign out of the iCloud account on your Mac and choose Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the current ID. This only deletes the data from your Mac, not from iCloud. Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in after a brief delay as it redownloads. If you have automatically imported your photo stream photos to your iPhoto library you won't lose them either (if you haven't, save them to your library first).
Again, only do this if when you go to icloud.com with your current ID you see your iCloud data there.

I was told by HP support that the registry was corrupted and that I had to re-install Windows and programs from CDs that came with the computer. I did this and Windows started working correctly again. The only trouble is that all of the music I bought is gone. I have learned my lesson about Windows. In the short run I plan to buy a backup drive that I can plug into this computer that I can restore from if and when something like this happens to Windows again. In the long run I plan to buy an Apple computer the next time I buy a computer.

You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you may be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download however they are not under any obligation to do so. The policy on lost songs is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
