How do i recover unsaved documents...HELP!

Is there anyway to recover unsaved documents. I was working on an essay and walked away from my computer for a little bit. My computer turned off and I didn't save my document. Is there anyway to recover it or do I just have to start it over??? Please help!

There is no built-in Autosave feature in iWork's components but such a tool is available for months.
Go to my idisk:

and download:
foriWork:autoSaveiWork.zip
I was able to write the tool but I can't install it for you

If you don't know your ID, you can try to find it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625.  Then you can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617.  Of course, you can only do this if it's your ID.

  • Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of clicking the button save I clicked the delete button at the end. Is there any way to recover it?

Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of saving the doc I clicked the delete button. Is there any way to recover it?

Regardless of application, the first step that I take is to save and name the current document — even if it has no content yet. With Pages, this good habit enables autosave. As you add content, your document revision history is restorable via the File Revert To menu. The delete key has the same document foreboding as only teaching a pet raven to speak "Nevermore."

How do I recover deleted documents from NOTES?

You cannot unless you had a backup with the deleted items.

  • HT1338 how do I recover a document I was working on but didn't save?

I was working on a document and didn't save when my program crashed. Does anyone know how I can recover this document?

I'm assuming the program in question was MS Word, judging from the tags you used. Word has an AutoRecover feature that may be of some assistance, but only if you had it turned on. If you did, you may be able to find your document here:
/Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office version AutoRecovery/Autorecovery save of filename
If you didn't have AutoRecover turned on, there's nothing you can do to get that document back.

  • My Pages app for iPad tells me I can't open a document and even iCloud won't let me download it to my Mac, how can I recover my document?

I really don't know what happened to Pages. First I was using the app, working on a document and everything was fine. I updated it a couple of times and there was no problem. Then, when I tried to open it once more snd continue to work with it, a message appeared telling me that the document had been modified in other iPad. Usually this would make sense but not this time because this file was only used on my iPad. So I chose to keep the document version created on my iPad and **** got loose since then. The document could't open, every time I tried, a message told me "The file cannot be open", so I read A LOT of what to do in this horrible case and tried to open it via iTunes but the option withbthe little arrow that usually works for send the file via e-mail, or to dropbox, or to print appear like I can't use it for anything so most of my options and hopes died. Then on a Mac I tried to dowñoad the file to see if there I could open it or at least change the file code from .pages to .zip and then unzip it but I can't even dowload it form iCloud so you see, I'm desperate. I need help, please! The document is very very important so could you tell me how can I recover it?

Having the same issue, can someone please enlighten us?

  • Recover unsaved document?

How do I recover an unsaved Photoshop document after closing the program?

Check your preferences and see if there is an auto save option listed. If so and it is enabled, then do a search for psd or psb file extensions.

  • Can you recover unsaved documents after the application shuts down

I just finished editing a previously saved 5 page rough draft and i was trying to add a header before i saved my changes and then the Pages application shut down. Now after 3 hours of editing, all of my changes are now deleted. Is there any way to recover an unsaved document? Is there like a temporary storage file or autosave file I can access? My paper is due tomorrow so any responses would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't said what version of Pages on what version of OSX but since OSX 10.7 they all require you to save the first time to create the named file that all subsequent versions will be saved to.
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/29454/foreversave-lite
Will prompt you to save the first time and then save at set intervals.
Apple as usual has created a novel auto-saving and versioning system that falls at the first hurdle.
It should save a temporary file in Documents with a unique System tag, or the first line of the document, if you haven't saved within 5 minutes of opening it.
Then if you chose to not Save, move that copy to the Trash.
Finally to give you a 3rd chance to recover, let you reopen the unsaved document from the Recent menu, returning the temporary file from the Trash.
This would cover the usual human behavioral problems. People tend to get into their work and forget to do the mundane things like Save until too late. It is easy to hit Don't Save when that pops up either by misclicking, or out of some long standing habit. Only thinking about it after the event.

  • Does Pages recover unsaved documents if your computer crashes?

I had some things open in pages (A story, some notes from class) that I hadn't yet saved, and then my computer crashed totally at random. Is there any way to recover them? I know Word has unsaved document recovery....

If you never saved it, No.
Are you still on OSX 10.5.8?
ForeverSave Lite will automatically save for you. OSX 10.7 will also autosave, but still needs to have you save the first time so it knows where to save it.
Word must leave a heck of a lot of randomly named files lying around if you never save.

  • How to recover unsaved document in Word 2011 for Mac?

I had a document that I saved under the name Travel Journals, and there's about 4 pages there. I added onto those four pages later but I guess I accidentally hit "do not save" or something. I can find the first 4 pages, but nothing else. Help please?

If you did not save it then there is nothing to recover.
If you want specifics then I suggest you post your question on the Micrsoft Mac forums, since it's their softawre you're asking about.

  • I have been creating a document in numbers on my iPhone and synced to iCloud. Now I cannot open it, and when trying to download via browser I get an error message. How can I recover this document?

    Dear all,
I have created a document on my iPhone, and stored it on iCloud. I have updated the document both on my iPhone and on my iPad. Now, I cannot open the document on my iPhone anymore, even a reset of the phone did not help. Via iPad I also cannot open the file, and when I try to download it to my PC via icloud.com I get an error message.I suspect that the file has become corrupt as I have updated it on the iPhone while I did not have network connectivity.
    I have two questions:
1.) Is it possible to recover an earlier version of the file?
2.) What can I do to prevent this from happening again in the future?
3.) Does the iPhone sync changes to iCloud in the background or does the application need to be active?
    Thank you,
    Niftan

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I have seen previous versions mentioned in a pop up message before on iCloud.com, but I'm not really sure at all how it would help, as I couldn't get it to do anything.
The best advice I have at this time is to back up your work on your iOS device by regularly saving it to iTunes, if anything goes wrong you can then either load it into the numbers app again on the device or recover it via iTunes on your computer.
My syncs are immediate, I never get chance to see if it works in the background, sorry.

  • Hi, I lost some of my keynote documents during manage storage in icloud. How can i recover these documents in icloud so I can back it up to my ios devices? Because they were erased fro icloud itself! Thanks

How can I retrieve the lost data that I erase it accidentally from my icloud during manage storage of icloud?

I'm not sure you can unless you have a Mac with a back up.
Whilst it won't help you recover documents that have already become corrupt, can I suggest you get into the habit of backing up your documents in the cloud regularly.

  • OS 3.1 install nuked my iPhone data! How can I recover it? Help!

I have an original 2G iPhone. This week, I updated my MacBook Pro (previous generation, OS 10.5.8) to iTunes 9, and installed the iPhone OS 3.1. Before doing so, I made sure to back up all the apps, music and media and all data on my iPhone. When I installed OS 3.1 however, all **** broke loose. My phone "bricked" (i.e., greeted me with a screen showing the iTunes icon and the USB cable plug), and would not let me restore it on my Mac. The folks at my local Apple Store helped me by re-installing OS 3.1 and restoring my iPhone.
When I returned to my office, I ran another sync with my MacBook Pro. The sync sessions only lasted a few seconds and stopped. I left my iPhone in its cradle, and to my surprise, the Mac and iPhone repeatedly and spontaneously tried to re-sync, each time with the same result. After shutting down and re-launching my Mac and my iPhone several times, I had a successful sync. But now for the bad news: while I recovered all my music, media and apps, all the data that I had entered in my apps was lost. I checked the Preferences in iTunes and inspected the Devices tab, it confirmed that all the previous data was lost.
Needless to say, I'm bummed. Is there any way to get the lost data back?
My hunch is that there was either some bug in the 3.1 installer, or a momentary hiccup in my Internet connection while downloading and installing 3.1. I haven't held out that Soviet interference might have played a role in all of this either. But seriously, if anyone has any clues on the cause, or more important, how to track down the package file containing my lost data, and restoring it, I will reward you with the Order of Hero of the Soviet Socialist People, and have a statue of you erected in front of Socialist People's Tractor Factory #14 in the lovely city of Chelablinsk, USSR. Thanks, comrades!

You can't. You have to restore the phone as new without restoring your backup as the password will just be restored if you do that.

  • How can I recover the documents I had in Pages, Numbers and Keynote?

I have an iPad that couldn't be updated because my laptop was an old one. Recently, I bought a new laptop and tried to updated my iPad plugging to the laptop. The problem was that the documents I had in Pages, Numbers and Keynote as well as the PDF files in iBooks have disappeared. I just checked the size of those apps and compared it to the one that Finder says those have on my computer and it looks as if the files were there. I have tried to access them but the type of file is .ipa and I have no idea on how to open them. Is it possible to recover those files? If so, how can I do it?

I had to restore my iPad earlier tonight. Some of my apps, docs...including numbers and keynote did not transfer to my iPad. I thought of how I transfer music to my iPhone (double tap and slide to device)  and low and b, you can transfer apps the same way. However, I lost a lot of data in both numbers and keynote...I too would like to know how I can restore my files. If not, work, time and energy down the drain!
