How do I reduce MB size for jpg photos?

How do I reduce the MB size for a group of photos I took. I want to save these reduced photos and send them to a client.

IF you want to reduce just the file size and not necessarily the dimensional size...
Create an action to "Save for Web", and run a batch using that action.
I'll show it on a Mac but it's the same for Windows.
1. Open one photo.
2. In the Actions panel click the menu selector and choose "New Action.
3. Name the action and click "Record".
4. Press Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S to Save for Web (Alt+Cmd+Shift+S on Mac).
5. Select a save destination and then close the file, selecting "Do Not Save" when you do so.
6. Press the Stop button.
7. Click File>Automate>Batch.
8. Choose the parameters for the batch and click "OK"
It'll reduce the file size of the photos you chose.

How can I reduce the size of a photo PROPORTIONALLY?  With my old Macmini I was able to place the pointer on the bottom right corner of the picture, hold down the shift key and move the pointer to achieve the desired size.

You'll need to use a 3rd party editor like one of these:
Some Image Editors That Support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
    Xee 2.1 - free
My personal preference would be for Photoshop Elements for Mac. Most of these will let you select and copy a head from one photo, paste it into another photo, resize and place where you need it.
PSE has a specific feature just for that function.  I belive the Adobe site for PSE has a demo video of that feature.

  • I have tried to use File - Export to reduce the size of my pics to send via email and all I get is a blank pic.  How do I reduce the size of the photo and still have the photo?

I have tried to use File > Export to a folder on my Desk top to reduce the size of my photos and all I get is a blank, grey screen.  How do I reduce the size of my pics so I can email them?

Where are you getting this screen?  In iPhoto after selecting the File ➙ Export menu option? If that's the case try this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/() Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences..
You can resize photos outside of iPhoto with 3rd party applications like Resize!.
With it you can change both the pixel size and file size of the photo to the size that suits your needs.  For other such apps go to MacUpDate.com and search for "image resize" to get a list of potential candidates.

  • How do I reduce the size of a photo after I copy (merge) it another?

Sorry for such a basic question, but when I was using Elements 5.0 I could open two photos, drag one photo into the other, then resize the photo by selecting it and using the handles.  I can't find a way to do this in Photoshop CS3.  Is this possible?   Am I missing a setting somewhere?
I can drag one photo into another and move it around, but just can't resize it.
    Thanks in Advance!

  • HT1229 How do I reduce the size of photo in iPhoto?  The size of my imported photos are 2 - 3 MB and for my purpose I need 200 - 400 KB.  Any suggestions appreciated.

How do I reduce the size of photo in iPhoto?  The size of my imported photos from my camera are 2 - 3 MB and for my purpose I need 200 - 400 KB.   Scanned copies of older photographs with a size of 100 to 500 KB work very well.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

File -> Export and make your choices in the Export dialogue.
Jpeg Quality and Size will have most effect on file size. Note that 'Size' refers to the pixel dimensions of the photo.

  • How can I reduce the size of a pdf file for emailing?

I want to send a pdf file which is 8 mb, it has bounced in an email because it is too big, how can I reduce the size of the pdf file for emailing?

Sometimes a simple "Save As" will reduce the file size slightly, but probably not enough to pass the <8 mb threshold of your recipient, as you need.
You've probably seen it, try the next option in the Save As menu, "Reduced Size PDF," and make it compatible with the latest version possible, again considering the recipient. This suggestion assumes Acrobat X. You don't say which version you're using, but this tool was available at least going back to Version 8, but in a different place, you'll have to hunt.
If all that doesn't work, you could remove some images from the source document, which also will reduce the overall size.
    Best luck.

  • HT201077 The photos I have transferred to my PC via Photo Stream are too large for me to share with friends.  How do I reduce the size and how do I share them with friends and family only?

I have the latest iPad update on my Ipad 3 as of September 23, 2012.
I havejust  taken a series of photographs with my iPad that I would like to share with family and specific friends ONLY.  I have set up the photos I want to share in Photo Stream.  I have synced them to my PC via iCloud.  Everything is fine except, the pictures are far too large to share ... and I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do in order to give my family access to these Photo Stream pictures.
How do I reduce the size of photo stream pictures once they are on my PC via iCloud?
What exactly do I do to give access to the photos on Photo Stream to specific people?
How can I share the videos I have taken with my iPad?
Many thanks for your attention.  I look forward to your reply.

    Select your photo/s.
    File menu > Export..
    Kind: JPEG
    JPEG Quality: Maximum
    Include: [√] Title and keywords
                [√] Location information
    Size: Full Size
    File Name: Use filename
Select one of the photos and open in with Preview.
    Tools menu > Show Inspector
Under the second button choose IPTC and it is all there.
    Sorry for all the confusion.

  • How do I reduce the size of photos to use on website?

Thanks to the helpful person who recommended I use Rapidweaver to build a website, I am slowly getting somewhere. It is so simple and just like Apple applications that I think I can do this.
My problem now is that when I tried to transfer a photo from iPhoto to the draft website page it comes across so large it fills the page.
How do I reduce the size of photos so that I can bring them across? I need to show about 20 photos on the web pages. Do they need to be in a different format and if so how do I change it to the appropriate one?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Casuarina,
Go to this site and click on the Desktop Version Quicktime movie for a small tutorial. It will explain everything to you and you can see how you resize right within Rapid Weaver. It's really quite nifty.

  • How do I reduce the size of a graphic in Preview and maintain resolution?

    Preview 6.0.1
    Hi,
I have a graphic in Preview. The largest file is a .jpg at 77 KB. Information about the graphic is in the attached "Adjust Size ScreenPreview Galleon 77.
I find that when I reduce the size of the file using Previews menu bar functions that I usually use — Screenshot>Zoom reduce>Select the smaller picture>Screenshot — that the result is an image that has lost the focus, the resolution of the original graphic.
How do I reduce the size of a graphic and maintain resolution? I've never used the Adjust Size Screen functions.
I'm not stuck on having to use Preview to accomplish this, but I do use Preview a lot.
    Thanks,
    Rafael

Choose a smaller width, the height will adjust appropriately, and the resolution will stay the same.

  • How do i reduce the size of my Giant library file?

My laptop is running out of room.  I have only 80gigs left (11% of the HD) and it is causing issues with the system.  I am assuming the virtual memory is unable to run properly as there isn't enough HD space for it.  So i have been trying to clean out my large number of video files (I make a lot of movies in iMovie).  I have deleted a lot of files so far, but so far that has only freed up 12gigs.
Inoticed the "Library.imovielibrary" file is 322 gigs.  I tried deleting some of the projects in there, but the file has not changed size.  How do i reduce its size?

Have you as well deleted them in the basket in iMovie and then as well on the basket in the dock ??

  • How can I reduce the size of "Other" usage?

I  unable to update my IOS because "Other" memory usage is too high and I have insufficient memory available for the upgrade. What does other include and how can I reduce its size?

You can update using iTunes on your computer, which will bypass the space requirement that is imposed on over the air downloads.
To reduce the size of other, back up the phone, restore it using iTunes, then restore your backup. That should get it down to a reasonable size.

  • How can I reduce the size of the jvm?

I would like to decrease the size of a jvm; I've found a program that makes it, but you don't know how does it works (and you have to pay for it), I'm talking about VM Optimizer 2.0, from Invirtus.
Can anyone tell me how can I reduce the size of the jvm?
    Thanks a lot.

I assume you mean the size of a JVM instance in memory and not the size of the JRE which is on the disk.
I don't believe that there is any way at present for your Java code to change the amount of memory available to the JVM. This shouldn't matter too much, though. Firstly, you can control the size of the JVM from the command prompt with the -Xms and -Xmx options. Secondly, any remotely reasonable operating system is going to wait until the JVM has requested memory before allocating all of it. If you start a JVM with a 2Gb heap, it does not occupy 2Gb of physical memory straight away.
Finally, I did a Google on InVirtus VM Optimizer and must request some information. What does that software have to do with Java? It's designed to reduce the size of a virtual computer as created by a prorgam such as VMWare. It has nothing to do with the Java virtual machine.
