How do I reenable Firefox 11 to download pdf files without opening them? Thank you!

First, I'd just get a blank screen. Then I learned to change 'get info.' window to open Firefox in 32-bit mode. Now, pdfs easily open, but I don't how to just download them (for later viewing) without opening them.

On Mac, use: Firefox > Preferences > Applications

Which application are you trying to open the PDF files in? Firefox or Adobe Reader? Or another?
If adobe reader then please make sure that your copy is up to date. You can get the latest version here - http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
Also I notice that you are using Firefox 19. Unless you have a particular reason to run an old version of Firefox is it much better to keep updated. The latest version is v22. New security fixes are applied in every new version of Firefox. Without them your PC is vulnerable. Please see this article: [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]

How do I stop firefox from pre-downloading a file during a file download prompt?

I use DownThemAll as my download manager for files generally over 10MB, as my internet connection is generally too slow for firefox to download a file larger then this without firefox "finishing" a download before it's complete, corrupting the file. This never happens with DownThemAll.
For some sites, either there is no download link to right click or it starts automatically, launching the download prompt. Firefox's internal download manager automatically starts downloading the file (not visibly, but in the background) before I can choose to use DownThemAll from the prompt instead.
This wastes bandwidth. Even worse, some hosting sites have randomly generated download gates for each session that expire after disconnection or limit you to a single download in a given time frame. This means that I effectively can't use DownThemAll on certain websites because firefox's own download manager steps in and gets in the way.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

How can I get firefox to not save pdf files (such as bank statements I have looked at) to my documents and settings/temp folder?

I just realized that some (but not all pdf files that I have opened) pdf files of bank statements as well as other pdf files that I have opened when browsing with firefox have been saved to my documents and settings/temp folder. I am concerned about this for security of my data, but also confused as to why all of these documents (as well as some word documents and other types of non .tmp files) are being stored here. Please tell me how to stop this from happening.

I can understand that they would appear there if I have the document open, or have recently viewed it. These documents are over a month old, some are over a year old.
Also, it is not just PDF files, I also see word docs and java.exe files in this folder. None of these files have the %temp% in the title as they do when I have a particular document open, rather they are a copy of the file or document that I have saved to my data file.
My main concern is the security of information when random PDF and doc files are stored here without my knowledge.

Firefox does not download pdf files properly

On my progressive website, when I try to view pdf documents, I click the document, nothing happens, but the file is downloaded into downloads. However, the file is downloaded as (example) test.pdf.part?
This website works flawlessly using the fault android web browser, and I can see in the notifications that the file is being downloaded. Subsequently clicking it and opening the file in Adobe.
Firefox had updated at least 4 times since I reported this issue Terry is still broken
Please don't all for the link to the problem because you can't get there without logging into my account with progressive. The site works, it is Firefox that's still broken.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. And yes, that applies to Adobe Reader plugin too. This isn't a bug with Firefox.

Firefox won't download PDF files with javascript:doDownload();

I just installed Firefox version 9.0.1 hoping it would solve this problem, but no such luck. My bank allows me to download and print my bank statements as PDF files from their website. I checked the code and the button I click on implements a javascript:doDownload(); function. A small panel opens that allows me to enter the page range. I then click OK and nothing happens. An earlier version of Firefox (3.0) had no problem with this and I was able to download and save my bank statements to my hardrive as PDF files.

I found that the problem was with the addon PDF Download 3.0.0.2
I disabled it and was able to download and print my bank statements. I'm just not sure if I need to change the settings or completely un-install it.

Download a file without opening new window

Hi everybody,
I need to save a file to local PC into a certain predefined file in such a way that user does not get any pop-ups or new windows - i.e. 'in background'.
I have tried 'FileDownload' - this get file content displayed in new window and if saved is to be allowed - a save pop-up is displayed.
If I try attach_file_to_response of cl_wd_runtime_services - it also gives a pop-up.
Does anybody know a way to download a file to local PC in such a way that the content of the file is not displayed in the new pop-up window and save dialog does not appear?

Hi Olena,
You will not be able to download a file in the background due to the browser security defaults. All browsers always prompt the users to accept files otherwise viruses and trojans would be able to be installed on your pc without you accepting them.
I know it is possible to write via SAPGui without a prompt but not from a browser.

How can I select all stamps in a PDF file without having to click on each individual one?

I use the stamps and text box feature to mark up engineering drawings in abobe acrobat 10. Sometimes revisions come for already worked on drawings so I need to transfer my work over. Usually I just hold control and click each stamp and text box then hit CTRL+C to copy all of them. However, sometimes there are 200+ stamps on a single PDF and clicking each and every one without letting go of CTRL is a lot harder than it sounds.
Any ideas on how to do a "select all" function? (the actual select all doesn't work in this case, it looks for words.)

Stamps are basically comments. As such, they appear in the Comments List,
where you can easily select them by clicking inside the list and then
pressing Ctrl+A.
